This was much different than other promotions through Twitter that Amex has run before. For this one, you tweet the first hashtag, enter card information on the Amex site, and then you tweet a second hashtag within 15 minutes to purchase the gift card and it's shipped to your billing address. Felt a bit bizarre purchasing something via Twitter hashtag...

You'll get a response in a bit. Took about ten minutes for me. Or maybe you can just do it now. Just tweet back #ConfirmAmexGiftCard25 once you filled out the form. I just did that and got an email from Amex saying my order was confirmed and I'm all set.

Amex was actually my first card when I originally applied as a student. Got turned down by Capital One, Citi, and Discover for their student cards, and in the beginning I got a "wait" from Amex for their student charge at the time, only to be offered a Premier Rewards Gold a few weeks later and 70,000 membership rewards points. I first thought it was a joke (considering my lack of credit history at the time), until they sent me like a gold cardboard box 2 weeks after that re-inviting me to apply. :lol: Instantly approved too.

Cardmember for life, because they took a chance with me, and it paid off for them in the end. They've always been awesome to me and have never been stingy with crediting me bonus points when I ask or any billing issues.

An Amex is not hard to get. Try the Costco Amex maybe, I hear it's pretty easy to get.

costco amex is a shared card. You pay for costco membership and get amex card with no annual fee. You can still use the amex just like any other amex, it just has the costco logo on the back.

You have to follow that link, input your shipping address and some card details, and then it syncs that card "for purchases."

Even though your card is already synced, you have to sync it again for purchases. After you do that, you have to wait for the twitter reply from Amex, and then you have 15 minutes to tweet the confirmation (#ConfirmAmexGiftCard25), and that's the final step.

Just don't tweet that last confirmation until AFTER you receive the instruction from Amex to do so on your twitter mentions feed.

I did that but still no e-mail w/ order confirmation. Did you get the order confirmation right after you tweeted #ConfirmAmexGiftCard25?

first amex i did it only took 5 minutes to get the confirmation tweet. 3rd one took 26 minutes, so its getting slower

Yea, still haven't gotten the email, been over 15 minutes. I also do NOT have the pending $1 charge like most. Not sure this is gonna work for me :-/

That did not work for me. It actually mess things up because I can't retweet when the confirmation came.

just be patient guys. Just got my confirmation e-mail of the order like 20min after initial tweet. never did get a response tweet. went with #ConfirmAmexGiftCard25 right after the buy hastag. I deleted both tweets and did it a 2nd time. I am not sure which one went through. If they end up charging me for both then they better send 2 cards lol.

thats prob just an initial authorization to confirm the card is valid when you synch..(like they do with any service when you add a card) a second pre auth will likely show up when the actual item is charged.

I did it before getting the go-ahead AMEX tweet, and haven't gotten confirmation e-mail and can't retweet #ConfirmAmexGiftCard25

I think that is the point, they want you to sign up and link your card to their twitter feed deals.

How does the credit play in? You two are seriously going to tell me that anyone can get a costco membership and get a freakin cc card. give me a break.
