Hey evo thanks for the heads up on this. My current 4 year subscription that I got for $5 is ending in November, so this came at a great time. Thanks and repped!

Hmm possible problem, it seems when I went to the renew the sub it charged my credit card for the usual $11.99 even though it says clearly below its for $1. Oh well if the charge goes through ill just cancel it, meh.

In addition, we'll upgrade your account to include FREE access, which unlocks ESPN.com's premium online content for you.

Very odd.
Definitely should bill out as $1 only.
Double-check that when it posts.
Maybe they adjust it?

Yeah lets hope so. I logged onto my account and it does not see the new transaction yet. Ill check later to see if they adjusted, if not ill talk to someone on live chat.

nsinfamous 02-12-2013 04:55 AM

Dammit. Just renewed couple months ago for 11 bucks when the expiration wasn't till March.

tml4gre 02-12-2013 05:04 AM

Yes, same issue with the price saying 11.97. Anyone able to confirm it will only charge $1?

pobonilla415 02-12-2013 05:18 AM

if that doesn't work, you can also try espn.com/thankyou

It's what I use every year.

wahoooob 02-12-2013 05:31 AM

Got some java error on the 1st link, but espn.com/thankyou worked for me.

Does anyone know if you can cancel the magazine - I really just want insider access!?

f1dwc 02-12-2013 05:46 AM

Yes, OPs link got me the page with the 11.97 subscription. Renewed using espn.com/thankyou. Repped both.

smkmn13 02-12-2013 06:23 AM

Worked from espn.com/thankyou for me! Thx.

The OP link didn't seem to work. Got to a page where I could enter my ESPN mag ESN or login with my mailing address. Got java error doing ESN and I could login with my mailing address but I didn't see any option to renew the subscription for $1.

That espn.com/thank you link worked though. Thx.

I don't think so. The price of getting Insider on the cheap is being forced to get that crappy mag every month.

akaussie 02-12-2013 06:55 AM

I've got a subscription which runs through October - anyone know if I renew now if it just tacks on an additional year? Thanks.

freshjiv 02-12-2013 06:59 AM

I had to check the 26 for $26 box to get the offer, even though it states a $1 for the year, it says it charged $26 to my VISA on the final page. Anyone else have this?

Yes, that was the only option I had, and same result. Good thing I gave them a virtual visa with less than $2 on it!

msuchamps00 02-12-2013 07:17 AM

I got the same thing that it says it charged me $26. I took a screen shot of the $1 offer to contest it if there are problems (i.e. I am charged more than $1)

Thanks! Just added another year to my subscription. Now bumped out to 2020!

Richmond1231 02-12-2013 08:00 AM

Use the espn.com/thankyou link. The first link only gave me the $9.97+$2 price, but the second link got me the $1 price.

Great deal!

Great deal!

The first issue of your current order is Jun 1, 2009.
Your subscription will expire with the May 11, 2015.

Used the thank you link and that showed $1. The other said $1 but showed $26 as the selection.

We'll see if it adds another year.

Billymadison51 02-12-2013 08:55 AM

Anyone know why my subscription for ESPN magazine is good for another year, but apparently I have to sign up for Insider again, which depending on which website I'm on, could incur a charge? Always thought that as long as I had ESPN magazine, I had Insider access.

I hate ESPN's website - it's so poorly managed.

Also, did anyone get a confirmation email for the 1-year extension?

fursie 02-12-2013 09:08 AM

got the $1 with the thankyou link, best dollar spent on fantasy football all year!

deshwasi 02-12-2013 09:14 AM

same here. OPs link led to a "$26 for 26" bullet. went thru espn.com/thankyou and was $1 all the way. thanks OP & whoever posted the thankyou link.

Suz726 02-12-2013 09:23 AM

Just got an email today that I had to renew my subscription. I used the espn.com/thankyou site.

IE_dealfinder 02-12-2013 09:27 AM

Renewal at the espn.com/thankyou link worked perfectly. $1 for 12 months more of colorful packaging material!

rpearlberg 02-12-2013 09:39 AM

I used the thankyou link on to renew my subscription which expired in October of 2012. The order was accepted based on my account. Have not gotten a verification email yet, but when I put in my subscription information, it confirmed I was eligible for the offer. Maybe there is some grace period on renewals.

I am new to ESPN (well, subscribed about 10 months ago. How did you get to this page (the first issue of your current order is.... etc etc)?

I tried espn.com/thankyou, went through the checkout. It said thank you for the renewal for $1. But on my Magazine page, it still says it's going to expire Apr 1, 2013.

Thanks ahead

lakerforever24 02-12-2013 09:18 PM

is this only for current members? not new ones?

silliness 02-12-2013 09:32 PM

The first link has the message about $1 renewal for 26 issues but the only thing you can select is 23 issues for $11.97. The second link quickly goes to the page and then redirects to the main insider access page. I guess that one isn't working anymore. I guess no deal for me.

mightywatcher 02-12-2013 10:02 PM

Used the espn.com/thankyou link and was able to get the 26 issue renewal for $1. Thanks OP!

ninjaitt 02-12-2013 10:06 PM

OP link gave me $26 for 26 issues. Used the espn.com/thankyou like the others to get the $1 for 1 year. Thanks for the heads up

Has anyone gotten any e-mail confirmation after going through the checkout? I tried it with Firefox, and IE, none worked. I entered my CC information at checkout, and then it got to the acknowledgement page saying I will receive an email shortly regarding ESPN insider activation. But I have received no email(s) after that.

Finally got it to work. espn.com/thankyou worked in IE.

tmarkille 02-12-2013 10:44 PM

I signed up for the one year subscription two years ago and they're still sending me magazines. The Insider, the only real useful part, expired after a year a scheduled though. The only use I've found for the magazines is as lining for my parrot cages.

hypnero 02-12-2013 10:45 PM

Updated the original post to let people know to try using IE / Firefox / Chrome if it is not working for them.
I use Chrome, FYI.

thesheaux 02-12-2013 10:58 PM

I've had the same issue in the past. Apparently, even if you have a long-running subscription (like I have--taking advantage every time one of these deals pop up), you have to call in to customer service and re-activate your Insider access annually. It's kind of an annoyance, but they'll walk you through it, and there is no additional charge as a magazine subscriber.

GoGoGadgetFlow 02-12-2013 11:50 PM

For some reason I can only do 26 dollars for $26 issues. I've tried both link, on the second link clicking "manage account." Am I missing something?

EDIT: Nvm. Both first and second link didn't take me anywhere. Just manually type in ESPN.com/thankyou.

Thanks!

Nothing like 52 weeks of bathroom fodder plus website access to geek info when it comes time for Fantasy Football season for $1.

And, even after all the years, I still smile when a deal makes front page.

espn.com/thankyou has been around for years...just not always active.

FYI - Once you renew for a year you can go right back and extend for another year. Since I've done this a few times in the past (good until 2017) I'm going to pass this time around.

FYI - if you have extended your ESPN the Mag subscription more than 48 months (as I have, I think I'm paid until 2019 under various deals like this) the Insider subscription will not associate properly online. You have to call their customer service dept. Apparently they have a tripwire set in the system to not allow Insider subscriptions to run for more than 48 months to prevent fraud. They will give you the Insider subscription, it just has to be over-ridden by customer care.

Brendan73 02-13-2013 06:53 AM

This has been around forever. Please don't front page this thing, or else ESPN will remove it for sure!

Literally, this has been around for years.

grueber 02-13-2013 07:00 AM

Took about 7 hours after I ordered before I got a verification email.

trulaker9 02-13-2013 07:04 AM

In for 1 more year at $1. Insider is really what makes this worth it. FYI, didn't work on IE, but did work on my Android Browser.

word2yamother 02-13-2013 07:16 AM

Neither of the links offered the $1/yr price in Chrome for me, but the second link did work in Firefox. Thanks OP. Repped.

lvssushi 02-13-2013 07:17 AM

Thanks and reps to both!! In for another year!!

rpearlberg 02-13-2013 07:21 AM

I was able to type in the web address and I got it to work. I have a confirmation that says $1 to my MasterCard. Now I'll wait for the confirmation email.

goraptors15 02-13-2013 07:22 AM

Second link with firefox works, Renewed it with a disposable credit card with $5 limit, I should be good till 2016 :)

Thanks and Repped.

splendorlex 02-13-2013 07:24 AM

I also used espn.com/thankyou and got it for the $1. Great deal!

freshjiv 02-13-2013 07:25 AM

The 2nd link keeps redirecting on me. It won't stay on the page to enter my info. Tried in both IE and Firefox. Anyone else experience this?

that was doing it for me too. I went to firefox and just typed espn.com/thankyou and it did not redirect.

cdaniels50 02-13-2013 07:40 AM

I got in on the $15 for 4 years deal a while back but if I get in on this one will it also add another year to those 4 years?

linkin06 02-13-2013 07:51 AM

had to use safari to get it to work w/ espn.com/thankyou

mdub311 02-13-2013 07:55 AM

Sweet! I'm in! I haven't been an insider for several years, but it worked for me!

Sent from Slickdeals App for iPhone & iPod Touch.

smacky00 02-13-2013 08:00 AM

Even if this doesn't work, the RewardsGold link in the Free Magazines section can net you another year for free, I think.

eapolica 02-13-2013 08:05 AM

Link did not work, however, Espn.com/thankyou did work!

sharky1214 02-13-2013 08:33 AM

According to Espn CS, if you try to use the link and you are more than 1 yr from your account expiring, you will not be allowed to get the $1/1 yr deal. Your account would default to the $26/1 yr.

I'll post this in the wiki too...

jfreak623 02-13-2013 08:35 AM

i purchased but my account is not showing anything yet. anybody else? I also didnt get a email

Bruno137 02-13-2013 08:40 AM

Now covered until August of 2017...solid!

sharky1214 02-13-2013 08:43 AM

it can take up to 24 hours to receive confirmation from ESPN according to their customer service.

Good to know. I was within a few months from my cancellation so it appears this should work.

Anyone received their confirmation email yet?

Hawk2007 02-13-2013 09:03 AM

When I subscribed to the magazine, I periodically got these offers in the mail for one dollar for a year. The magazine is fine, but they get you on the autorenew and hope that you forget.

beowulf7 02-13-2013 10:12 AM

This sounds like a great deal, even if it was just $1 for Insider access without the mag. However, the auto-renewal part concerns me since I can see me forgetting about it and then getting charged the full amount next year. : \

geniusboy91 02-13-2013 10:48 AM

Will this work if I have one of those weird free 3 issue e-subs from Zinio they gave away a month or so ago? The only thing I *really* care about is the Insider.

Probably not, as you need a subscriber number to access. I don't know if you get one with Zinio.

edjrwinnt 02-13-2013 10:52 AM

Is there a way to get your insider access online before you get the first issue? My subscription lapsed but I was still able to renew for $1. However when I login it wants me to input the code off the label from the magazine to get Insider access.

call espn the magazine support (888-267-3684) and ask for you ESN number
they answered the phone pretty quickly and i was able to get my number in minutes (took about ~2 weeks after I ordered the sub to get my ESN not sure how long it takes for renewals -- they might be able to provide it immediately)

Thank you to the both of you and I repped both of you. I was able to call to get the refund and I don't mind waiting about two weeks. I really wanted Insider access mostly for the NFL Draft.

If you log into your account at the mag website, you can pull your account number from there and start your insider access.

Look up your account here:
https://w1.buysub.com/pubs/ES/ESN...4720&vid=1

Once you're logged into your account, there is a place to click to start insider...or, when you have your acct # - go here to start Insider:

also what i did after renewing for buck was generate a fake credit card number and replace mine that they now had on file so that in case i forgot to cancel (oct. 2014; im sure i would) i shouldnt be charged.

mister42 02-13-2013 12:54 PM

i used the espn.com/thankyou link and it appeared to have worked on that page but i don't see an extension of my account in my account summary and i don't see a $1 charge on my CC. maybe it will take time to show up or maybe it won't work at all. if so, oh well. current subscription (2 years for $8) goes til Dec 2014.

+1

The key is to TYPE it in. I tried the link in several different browsers - each time I got the $26 offer. But when I typed it in (Mac OS - Chrome) it worked. Thanks!

washburn12 02-13-2013 09:14 PM

yes, definitely make sure you guys cancel ESPN insider! i had cancelled online with ESPN the magazine and STILL got charged 44.95 for ESPN insider and it was my first year with insider so i didn't know the magazine and insider were two different things kind of. quick call and they refunded my money, but yeah just a heads up :) it's quite silly that insider costs 44.95/year when you can subscribe to espn the magazine for 11.99 (and even cheaper sometimes) and get free insider.

Thanks, OP! Repped!

Chae 02-14-2013 08:28 AM

Good deal. I don't even bother opening the magazine except during college football seasons. ESPN Insider access is pretty useful though, since they tend to put more and more interesting articles behind the paywall.

I checked my online bank statement and got charged the $26 for a year. I called 888-549-3776 and got transferred to the Magazine Subscription department and they gladly refunded me $25 to my credit card. Can't beat $1 for a year subscription of ESPN.

Please point to the, "whining" part.
Did I say something untrue?

Also, for the record, my Android deals regularly end up with almost this much response / rating.
I feel like you simply have a subjective opinion of what constitutes a, "great deal".....that's all.

It's all good, either way. I would invite you to calm yourself as well.

That's just nuts.
I wonder how much money Disney (ESPN is owned by Disney, right?) has to pump into that magazine to make sure it stays afloat.
Especially when Slickdealers are paying a few bucks for a few years of membership / subscription.

It has worked for others.
No reason not to give it a try.
There are a few different ways to go about it, check the original post and try them all.
Others have reported that they were able to get it with long-expired subscriptions and I want to say that there has been at least one post from someone who was never a subscriber.

Only one way to find out. ;)

Not sure if it is helpful, but I had renewed my subscription a week before this post, at regular price ($79.95/2 years). I called customer service to cancel, and they offered me a 50% refund, reducing the 2 year cost to $40. If anyone else is in this predicament, a decent consolation prize...

Customer service is like a box of chocolates....

Try again, another CS agent should be able to prorate the cost and cancel your subscription.

I auto-renewed, called them and told them I did not want to renew. The gentleman was kind enough to credit everything back to my cc.

Let me know if a different agent works out for you.

Not really when you can often get it for free or less than $5 per year. I'd call back and cancel the renewal completely and get all your $ back. That's just me though! :D

You can get it way cheaper online constantly. Probably because it's one of the worst magazines out there. It's literally only worth it for insider.

26 issues of ESPN The Magazine (1 year) + ESPN Insider for $1.
Only catch is "The $1 price is valid for current subscriber renewals only."
As always make sure you can your subscription before it expires because of auto-renewal. Let me know if you don't see the price!

This has been going for years, I'm good through 2015 because of this link.

Good deal, but I wish they would stop sending the magazine :) That thing is worthless, but having Insider is great!

Yea I know! They just go straight to the recycle bin when I get them in the mail. Insider is much more worth it.

Prettty much. There are like two issues monthly I take a look at - the fantasy football issue and the naked issue. Occasionally the MLB preview too, but insider for a dollar is absolutely fabulous. Just a note I did have some issues last year when using the promo - they tried to auto renew me for 27 bucks or something dumb but a phone call after fixed it right up.

I usually re-up once a year after signing up initially for 2 years.

Gonna give this a try, thanks. I got the original for $1 and did this thanks deal a few years ago. I forgot to cancel and they got me for $24 last winter. I was too lazy to call about it. I actually read the magazine so it didn't seem terrible... after this it will be $27 for 4 years.. meh. rep'd.

Think it actually works more often than once a year. I'm subscribed through 2020 now. Not sure how much further I want to push that.

I think that was my point in my other post on this thread, which is how did you get subscribed through 2020? Did you you use the same link over and over and they charged you $1 for each year? I think I just recently receive an email that gives me an additional year free. Anybody else receive this? tia

Right, I just use that same link every time I see it here. People repost it every few months.

Be careful! Check your credit card charges. I got charged the full $26/year on this month's statement and had to call in to get it changed to a dollar. And I was already subscribed through 2018.

The second link worked for me
