bpvh's unofficial Office Depot FARewards FAQ (vers. 2013.01.03): This is a work in progress. Q01. Is membership in Office Depot's Worklife Rewards program required to take advantage of these bonus offers? Q02. What are Office Depot's Worklife Rewards and what can the rewards purchase? Q03. If a bonus rewards item is paid for with rewards will the bonus rewards still be awarded? Do rewards "roll"? Q04. Does using coupons impact the rewards payout? Q05. Any other payment concerns? Q06. The terms state "Limit 2 of each item per member per day" or similar. What is an "item" for the purposes of this offer? Q07. The item comes in N different colors and has N different SKUs. Can two of each SKU be purchased per day of the offer and receive rewards? Q08. A sign in-store has an item not on the official PDF advertised as part of the 100% back in rewards offer. Will the item earn 100% back in rewards? Q09. The item's online price does not match the item's price in the advertisement. Will the rewards payout be the advertised price or the purchase price? Q10. According to the offer's official pdf file, the item is listed as only being available online (or alternatively in-store). Will the item earn rewards if purchased in-store (or alternatively online)? Q11. What "date" does Office Depot's reward site use as the date of record for online transactions? Q12. When will the rewards be noted on the rewards account? Q13. How and when will the rewards from this offer be received? Q14. Do rewards expire? Q15. Do purchases of 100% back in rewards items count toward the total qualifying annual purchases for Office Depot's ink/toner recycling program? Q01. Is membership in Office Depot's Worklife Rewards program required to take advantage of these bonus offers? Yes. Office Depot's rewards program is called Worklife Rewards. To join either fill out an application in-store or online at www.myworkliferewards.com [myworkliferewards.com]. Q02. What are Office Depot's Worklife Rewards and what can the rewards purchase? Office Depot's Worklife Rewards are effectively Office Depot store credit. "Rewards Certificates may be redeemed on purchases of merchandise only, which excludes any type of prepaid gift, merchandise, debit, phone, service or other stored value card or device."* Rewards certificates are unlimited use until funds exhausted. No idea if there is a limit on the number of rewards (and gift and merchandise) cards that can be used on a single purchase in-store. Online there is a limit to the number of rewards (and gift and merchandise) cards that can be used on a single purchase. Not sure what it is but it is at least four. Q03. If a bonus rewards item is paid for with rewards will the bonus rewards still be awarded? Do rewards "roll"? No. To the extent bonus rewards items (e.g. 100% back in rewards items) are paid for with previously issued rewards, the bonus rewards payout will be reduced dollar for dollar. Do not use rewards to pay for 100% back in rewards items. "Purchases (or portions of purchases) made with Office Depot Rewards or Merchandise Cards/Certificates do not qualify for Rewards."* Q04. Does using coupons impact the rewards payout? Yes. Using coupons to pay for 100% back in rewards items will reduce the rewards payout. This includes the stated value of freebie coupons. While dollar off coupons are useful in reducing the initial outlay, the eventual rewards payout, and the amount of sales tax paid if applicable, freebie coupons will reduce the rewards payout at the inflated value given to the freebie items. "The price of an item eligible for Rewards is the price paid at checkout after the deduction of coupons, other discounts, the value of free items and the value any Office Depot Rewards and Merchandise Cards/Certificates applied to that purchase."* Q05. Any other payment concerns? Cash, credit cards, and gift cards: Earn full rewards. Rewards certificates and merchandise cards: Earn no rewards to the extent paid for with rewards certificates and/or merchandise cards. Q06. The terms state "Limit 2 of each item per member per day" or similar. What is an "item" for the purposes of this offer? To date, an "item" has been a distinct SKU. Q07. The item comes in N different colors and has N different SKUs. Can two of each SKU be purchased per day of the offer and receive rewards? To date, yes. Q08. A sign in-store has an item not on the official PDF advertised as part of the 100% back in rewards offer. Will the item earn 100% back in rewards automatically? Most likely no. The most reliable information concerning 100% back in rewards offers is the offer's pdf file. It will contain the items included in the offer and the terms and conditions of the offer. The pdf file is located on the Office Depot Worklife Rewards site in the program's FAQ under the question "How can I find out what products qualified for a particular promotion?". Q09. The item's online price does not match the item's price in the advertisement. Will the rewards payout be the advertised price or the purchase price? For 100% back in rewards offers the rewards payout has been the purchase price (as adjusted for paying with coupons, previous rewards, etc.) regardless of whether the purchase price is less than or greater than the advertised price. Q10. According to the offer's official pdf file, the item is listed as only being available online (or alternatively in-store). Will the item earn rewards if purchased in-store (or alternatively online)? To date, the item will earn rewards even if the purchase location is other than as listed on the offer's official pdf file. Q11. What "date" does Office Depot's reward site use as the date of record for online transactions? Office Depot's rewards site uses the purchase/order date as the date of record for online transactions -- as it should. The order is dated according to eastern time though not local time. Backorders, at least those that ship by the time the rewards are noted on the account, generally are awarded rewards. Q12. When will the rewards be noted on the rewards account? Rewards from bonus rewards offers such as 100% back in rewards offers post within days under both "Rewards Status" (under "Additional Promotions") and "Purchase History". Q13. How and when will the rewards from this offer be received? Rewards are paid out on rewards certificates. The rewards certificates can be received either electronically or via US Mail. For those who have signed up for electronic delivery, your Rewards certificates should be available to download as a pdf file from your myworkliferewards accounts [myworkliferewards.com] in the latter half of the month after the end of the quarter. For this offer that in the latter half of April 2013. For those who have not signed up for electronic delivery, your printed Rewards certificates should arrive via US Mail in the latter half of the second month after the end of the quarter. For this offer that is in the latter half of May 2013. According to the program's Terms and Conditions*, Rewards certificates should be issued: You earn Rewards..............Online Rewards issued.....Postal Rewards issued January 1 – March 31..........April 15 – 30...................May 15 – 31 April 1 – June 30.................July 15 – 31....................August 15 – 31 July 1 – September 30........October 15 – 31...............November 15 – 30 October 1 – December 31....January 15 – 31...............February 15 – 28 Q14. Do rewards expire? Yes. Rewards expire the last day of the month 3 months following the month in which they are issued. Q15. Do purchases of 100% back in rewards items count toward the total qualifying annual purchases for Office Depot's ink/toner recycling program? As long as the purchase is otherwise a qualifying purchase, then yes. "Qualifying purchases exclude taxes; delivery fees; postage stamps; and prepaid gift, debit, phone or services cards; and purchases made with Office Depot Rewards and Merchandise Cards/Certificates."* ----------------------- * - Office Depot's Worklife Rewards Terms and Conditions [myworkliferewards.com] ** - Office Depot's Worklife Rewards FAQ [myworkliferewards.com] DISCLAIMER: The UNOFFICIAL Office Depot Rewards FAQ is a compilation of information found not only in the official Terms and Conditions* and FAQ** but also through my own personal experience and the personal experiences of others as posted to SD and FW. ======================= |

wtf is this, coupon for a FAReward offer?
this would be insane without the $50 limit though lol, no category restrictions |
OP, you may want to remove that code. My code number is different from yours so it may be one time use only.

Does it mean a max of 2 x $50 for the entire promotion period 10-16 Feb. ?
|
Quote:
But doubtful |
So, this is valid for ANY binders, writing instruments, labels, presentation easels and easel pads, etc.?
Also, I'm new to the ink recycling game. I have recycled 20 carts for Jan and Feb but have no qualified purchases. Can I grab a bunch of stuff on this promo (up to $50) and have it count as a qualifying purchase, even though I am getting 100% back on rewards? Thanks. |
Quote:
|
Needed some LabelWriter labels :D
|
This is great. Sure it is only $50, not thousands as in previous offers, but I can get $50 worth of stuff I can actually use. I'm a little worried about possibly buying something that does not qualify for the offer because we don't have a list of SKUs, but I guess I'll just be extra careful and check that the rewards post as expected and return the items if it doesn't.
I'm thinking that this should combine with a $10 off 50 coupon to get a total of $60 off FARewards stuff. Anyone think that won't work? I also wonder if this is good on clearance items. I don't think I'll take a chance because it is good on "select supplies." Oh and anyone know of anything with manufacturer rebates that qualifies? If something qualifies for a manufacturers rebate, you could double dip on rebate and rewards. |
It might be a stupid question, especially since the 100% back image shows the filing supplies. But, if one looks at the fine print, there is no mention of filing supplies, even though all other categories are mentioned in the fine print. Do you think that will be a problem? I only need the filing supplies.
Thanks. |
Quote:
I'm curious about this as well....is it from ANY of the above supplies? |
Quote:
Not sure what "official" answer your looking for...since I doubt anyone here works for this promo dept. Best bet ( in cases like these)....is if you want to be safe...buy something that is obvious in one of the categories. You can also be more "risky" if you want.....just make sure you watch your rewards carefully. |
I see this at checkout so hopefully this will confirm that we are getting the rewards:
Remove Coupon 100% BACK IN REWARDS ON MOST SUPPLIES (CD06) Your order has not met the qualifying total of $.01 for coupon 45457376 This may be the result of certain product exclusions. I really want more clips. |
It seems that when the coupon code is applied and no qualifying items are in the cart, a message pops up saying you have not met the qualifying total of $.01 for the coupon. There is no complaint as long as some item in the cart qualifies, so you have to add each item by itself to check. It's a bit of a hassle, but at least we can confirm what qualifies.
Also, adding a second coupon (i.e., 10 off 50) appears not to work. The 100% coupon will not combine with others. Confirmed qualifying: binder clips (great filler, as low as $0.39), some rulers (the cheapest one came up as not qualifying), and label maker tape. |
Quote:
but: green hanging files are yes, sharpie markers, yes, rubber bands - yes. Have to look at each item to be safe. Hard to put together enough to get free shipping. |
so pi put a keyboard duster in my cart and its not saying it wont qualify..

Looks like the website is automatically adding the 100% back coupon for qualifying items. I added an item to my cart, added coupon code "53790023" and it gave me an error. Then, I looked and over on the right side of the screen it showed 2 different 100% back coupons being applied.
|
OD better provides a list for the qualified item.......
|
How do you know that the item is go or no-go? For example, if I were to add plastic filing drawers, how would I know if it qualifies or not?
Quote:

If you want to test out whether or not an item qualifies, it has to be the only item in your cart at the time. So add the item and go to the checkout page. If you get an error, it doesn't quality. This is what I have found so far: Items that qualify -Labels for my Brother label maker -Paper clips Post it notes Items that dont qualify: -Toner ink -Scotch tape w/ dispenser -Shipping tape |
Thanks Randomness!!
One more question: Will orders placed online for store pick-up also earn rewards? I know that for all earlier promotions that works, but I am not sure about this one as this term in fine print: Cannot be combined with Store Purchasing or Procurement Cards, what does this mean? and secondly, OD/OM expert, bvph has not chimed in this thread yet :) |
Office Depot's pricing is all over the place. 24-packs cost more than 2x 12-packs, $3.99 rulers that look the same as $0.49 rulers, et cetera. It's making it hard to maximize my mooching.
|
Cool! This includes things like marker boards and cork boards and pushpins. I went for this one to take advantage of free shipping. Thanks OP!

In response to your request, please know that your rewards account will not be credited with 100% back in rewards, if you use your Office Depot gift card for purchasing 100% back in rewards items. The price of an item eligible for Rewards is the price paid at checkout after the deduction of coupons, other discounts, the value of free items and any Office Depot Rewards and Merchandise certificates/cards applied to that purchase. Quote:
Edited to add: The way to check if an item qualifies is to delete everything from your cart, including all coupon codes. Then add your desired item. If the 454 or 537 code is automatically added to your cart, the item should qualify. |

Is it me, or is OD just ridiculously incompetent in running a promo? Last time it was the 'buy tax sw and get other sw free after rebate', but online orders get split into multiple invoices, so they had no way to supply invoices that complied with their rebate and promo terms (bot tax sw and rebate sw on one invoice). This time, it's 'hey wahoo, everything in these categories is 100% free after rewards', but then selecting items linked directly off their list, some are, some aren't included, and nowhere is there a list of qualifying skus or items. we have to check each and every item 1 at a time. |

I have to assume we can order any quantity of the items that qualify. I didn't see where it had a Qty limit. This is really a stupid one if you ask me. They should mark everything that qualifies. It takes so much time to figure out what qualifies.
|
did the rewards show up in your account at workliferewards.com?
I saw the purchase but not reward. |
I just talked with customer service at workliferewards and she said she hadn't received any calls pertaining to this promotion and she's the one that handles the calls after things don't show up. I told her to get ready for the phone to ring and I explained some of the challenges we were having and she was shocked that the store didn't have the 100% back items labeled. My store didn't have a clue about the promotion at all. Hmmm I would hate to be OD customer service when everyone starts calling in.
If it went in the cart and showed 100% rewards then I'd print it or she suggested that you call the order in and they can tell right away if it qualifies for 100%. I'm not so sure about that tho as it looks great when we are ordering it if we have ONLY 1 item that qualifies. |

Totes weren't working for me for some reason. You do have to make sure that there is only 1 coupon in your cart like Cagnotte mentioned. For some reason it's loading 2 coupons in your cart and you will have to remove 1 of them then put 1 item in at a time. What a mess but 100% rewards back makes it worth it. |

nope you're right but if your item cannot be ordered for in-store pickup (which mine wasn't), spending 50 would be wise since that's the minimum for free shipping. |
I can't add any kind of sharpie to the shopping cart. "There was a problem adding your item(s) to your cart. Please call our Customer Service Center" any idea why?

Went to the store and rang up a bunch of items to see if it qualifies. When they add the promo code, each item had a second line that said "100% Rewards Cash Back" (or something similar) so they all qualified. Seems like that's the only sure fire way to find out.
Got a bunch of post-its and labels, all the kinds that never go on sale. |

Did a few purchases online and what a mess but went to the store for my last purchase and he showed me the screen that listed each item and 100% rewards and the receipt printed a coupon # below each item on the receipt. I spent plenty of time doing my research at OD.com to know which items would qualify. This has been the best kept secret w/OD. The cashier said he had someone use a coupon for the first time today. Was this just for the SDer's LOL.
|
Why oh why do I procrastinate so? I took so long searching for a good filler to get to free shipping I lost track of the time and when I went to checkout it's 11:03PM CST I get an error that the coupon is expired! :censored: I should have guessed they'd be using Eastern time. Or forced myself to do this yesterday.
It must be genetic, a procrastination gene... but it just sucks that I feel like I lost something when before the deal came along I didn't really need/want the items I'd decided to buy, but now I had decided that I did want them (since they'd be nearly free). I guess I did lose something... a couple hours of my life and if you got this far in this rant post I guess you lost a little something too.... or maybe you gained a laugh. OK, after getting that out I do feel a *little* better now. That is all. |

Decided to buy in store.
Noticed the prices on a couple of items were higher in store, so the cashier price-matched the online prices. (Turns out, aside from clearance items, they were all priced higher.) However, when I got home, I noticed that the price override took off the 100% reward coupon on those items. Now I have to call OD to see how they can fix this. Next time, I will go to store first to check out items, then purchase online. |

i just logged in to check the status of the rewards and noticed they had not posted for this purchase. over that, i had been having issues with chase for the bonus points as they first awarded 150 points then deducted the points saying the items were refunded as per office depot. then they would not give me the contact information for office depot to straighten it out with them. went back and forth for a couple of days and they gave me courtesy points, which I really do not want, as I would rather use the courtesy crap on a big amount of missing points. turning out, its going to be another headache getting rewards from OD as well.

Upromise also took back the 5% rewards. I assume it was because of the coupon code.

Your Rewards Status as of 3/6 PLUS Bonus Rewards....still $0 ...i hate office depot
|
Received "up to date" email about my reward but still no reward for this promotion. I don't usually worry about reward but this consumes some of my time already.
I still have all the things unpacked and waiting for return |
Stilll no rewards ... I have not opened anything hope they take the return.
|
I purchased what I'm pretty sure were $49.83 in qualified purchases and $1.09 in unqualified on 2/14 (I verified whether each item allowed the coupon). As of 3/15, there are no rewards listed in my purchase history, but there is a rewards status entry under "100% back on select supplies (2/10 - 2/16)" for $50. There's no indication how they calculated or why I got the full $50, but rewards appear to have shown up.
|
$50 in rewards posted here too!

As of 3/15, there are no rewards listed in my purchase history, but there is a rewards status entry under "100% back on select supplies (2/10 - 2/16)" for $50. I spent $50.62, and I got the full $50. Glad that rewards have shown up, now I can start using the things :)

31 days to post. All items are showing rewards - I can finally put them to use!
|
My purchase was split into two shipments and assigned two order numbers. Only the second shipment has Rewards assigned to it. There's none for the first shipment. I don't know if OD is just slow or if they really did not assign rewards to the first shipment.

I got my $50 + $40 for Ink recycle done in Jan and Feb ($50 in this purchase is considered for recycle purchase requirement) . Good deal. Thanks op

I do wonder why they call it a courtesy credit. It's not as if you made the mistake. It was an error in OD's checkout program. The customer has no control on OD splitting an order into more than 1 shipment and making each shipment a different order. I used to have purchases before that were split into several shipments. They had the same order number with an additional suffix number (-001, -002, 003). |
rewards posted.....FINALLY!!!

my order was split into 2 as well .. atleast got rewards for the bigger order .. not going to bother for the $2 rewards that are missing. My 03/01 recycling has not posted though .. hopefully it posts for this quarter.

Did recycling ever post other than sometime in the first half/middle of the next month? I know I updated the FAQ back in October '12 to reflect OD posting bonus rewards in a matter of days -- which apparently is only for some bonus rewards offers -- but did ink/toner recycling rewards ever post in a matter of days or has it always been sometime in the next month.* * - other than the one or two times during the first hald/middle of the next month days when all rewards posted on about the last day of the month. |
Emailed OD because my rewards for this promo where not showing up. Got the standard response wait until 6 weeks after purchase for the account to be credited. Six weeks and 2 days later I sent a follow-up email and the response back was that I had not used the coupon so no credit would be forth coming. I emailed them back with a copy of the coupon and told them It was not my fault if the cashier made a mistake entering the coupon code at the register. I am now awaiting to see if they will make things right.
|
Just checked the WLR site and looks like the office suppply promo got credited correctly.
|
this is strange...about a month after I made a purchase back in Feb I checked my rewards and $50 was posted, but now they are gone. My purchase is still there, and says the purchase is eligible for rewards, but the reward itself is gone.
anyone else see this?? |

Showing no reward for me and when I emailed them they tried to tell me there was no promotion . So I emailed them the link to the promo page even though the links on it are removed.

screw it I am calling them.
not sure why I bother to email them when 1 phone call resolves the issue. They are manually crediting it for me. Does remind me also didn't get my gas card for smead rebate |
I thought that I did not get the reward because it did not show up in the purchase history on the worklife rewards site. That is usually where I check to see that I get my rewards. The purchase was listed, but all the reward amount fields said $0.
I checked my reward status statement for that quarter and I did get the $50 credit. It was on a line item that said "100% back on select supplies (2/10 - 2/16)". So if you think you didn't get the reward, check your reward status for the quarter, not the line item of the purchase history. |
