This is not "the next best deal" either. It stopped being the next best deal the minute the New Egg deal expired. This is actually THE BEST deal right now. You can't compare a live deal with an expired deal. It doesn't work that way. The fact that you talked about the New Egg deal in present tense gives readers the impression that it's still valid. I didn't correct your whole statement. Just 1 word.

You're actually right. The fact that sometimes the things you write sound with a different tone in other people's heads when they read them doesn't help either. I didn't mean to sound like a d*ck, which I now realize It's a possibility. Peace.

I have this printer. It was my first one, but if you need to do a lot of copying you will definitely need an automatic feeder, which this one doesn't have. I paid around $80 for mine so this is a pretty good price.

BAD311 02-12-2013 09:08 PM

My wireless died after 12 months. Now it needs to be constantly reset and reconfigured to work for... a few weeks... until it needs reset again.

stevehip 02-12-2013 09:19 PM

I bought one of these from a slick deal back before Christmas 2012. It works great, is easy to set up, and the knock off toner from Amazon works great. It's easy to change the wifi network on the fly if you need to, though it is even easier just to make sure the person printing is on the right wifi network (I have 3 in my home).
Scanning is high res and works great. I haven't tried any OCR stuff because I've never needed it. But I am taking some old pics of my siblings and I as children and scanning them in. I use it with an iMac, a Mac Book Pro and also with some third party apps you can even print off an iPad. It also works with PC. I'm not sure if it's one of the Apple supported printers, but it does work with all of my Apple computers.

The toner won't last too long but I think the replacement was somewhere around 30 bucks when I bought it for the knock off high yield cartridge.

Perhaps you might try a different outlet. I'm guessing you may have a surge issue. Or maybe buy a surge protector power strip and try that. Of course this is just my best guess. If a surge already fugged up the wireless you may need another.

My experience with J&R is that they will usually fulfill "temporarily OOS" orders when they get more stock, though it may be a while. In any case, they shouldnt charge your card until they ship, so I'd go for it. You can always cancel if it stays on backorder too long.

So far happy with my refurb mfc-7860dw. People say it is the 'better' version of this with auto doc feeder, I tend to agree.

PharAway 02-12-2013 11:48 PM

Missed the newegg deal, in41. Thanks!

where'd you get it refurb, and how much was it?

rochelle017 02-13-2013 12:11 AM

i am looking for a replacement/upgrade for my printer the amount of printing i do is somewhere in the range of greater than just a casual/home user, but not as much as a office,
i also currently use this old fax machine so i would like to finally be able to stop using it, maybe get something that it with an all-in-one unit but not a inkjet, and i also need color printing any suggestions ? also if i was abe to print from my ipad that would be great to have as well as i currently have that feature.

I do too much printing for an inkjet and i' a sick of them right now i have an hp deskjet photosmart 6510, i end up buying more and more printer cartridges it seems i end up with close to 2 cartridges per wk, its getting out of hand. i am hoping to get a different printer and spend less than $300, any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated,

100 AR, after taxes.
Probably not coming back anytime soon as it is an older model and they will probably want to push the current gen.

Staples has a refurb for 99.99/free shipping but there's tax so may as well buy it new for 109.00.

This printer should work well for your use.

I have had this printer for well over a year and I love it. I would buy it all over again twice! Actually, I did. I have the 2270 (no scanner) at my shop and the 2280 (with scanner) at the house. Both setup easily and have worked great since day 1.

If you buy it, use Linkyo TN-450 toner from SuperMediaStore or Amazon. It's usually $16-20 and lasts a good while.

Far and above a better value than inkjet.

rochelle017 02-13-2013 01:19 AM

I also have prime so sometimes thats an option as well.

But this is a b+w printer right ? i was really looking for something with color (but i never wanna see another inkjet in my home :bounce: ) thanks for the help,. i am so ready to throw this inkjet out the window maybe i will pick this up anyways and get a box of crayons for anything i need with color.

I also bought the mfc7680dw -- gotta love the wireless and duplex (two must haves for a new printer imho along with it being a laser)

The brother-usa website shows the MFC7680DW as a current all-in-one with fax, flatbed scanner, auto doc feeder, wifi, and duplex. What's the replacement model?

CocoaAddict 02-13-2013 06:16 AM

Bought this printer at $149 from office depot about 10 days ago. And was able to get a price match.
Thanks OP!

I ordered yesterday even when it says OOS. I got an email today saying it's shipped! I guess some people cancelled?

Just bought the MFC-7360n last weekend at Staples. I haven't opened the box yet. Should I take it back and get this one?
Staples will not price match this deal. Guy said "We only price match Bricks and Mortar deals"

The MFC-7360N has Auto document feeder, but no auto duplex. I dont think I need ADF, but auto duplex for printing manuals would be very nice I would think..
