Help me find an engagement ring (diamond -princess cut)
Getting engaged and don't know where to start looking for an engagement ring, looking for a princess cut and the most for your money (of course) in the $1,000 range. In store preferred, I live in the Ontario, CA area but Montclair, CA, Anaheim, CA and anywhere in between would work, thanks in advance.

Go to Costco & see what they have. Selection is not great but you'll get a much better price there than at a jewelry store.

You aren't going to get much for $1000. I would look at used rings. Rings lose about 80% of their value. Check out ebay.

I think this may actually be a Costco ring, or atleast the setting looks exactly like one! http://www.ebay.com/itm/ABSOLUTEL...3cc Alternatively check out bluenile.com They have good pricing, on par with Costco's. |
I agree not to buy a new ring. I would check craigslist and take it and the person selling it to a jewelry store to make sure that it isn't fake. When times got tough, I sold my 6,000 ring for 1700.00. It kills me to think that I did it, but at the time I was grateful to get the money. I also would list under wanted on craigslist. Many times the seller has the original sales slip or insurance info (I did) and you can still take it to be looked at in the jewelry store. I would never buy a ring new after seeing just how little they are worth if you need/want to sell. Trust me...we women love the bling and don't care where it came from as long as it is good size and sparkles. Educate yourself as to color, clarity, inclusions so that you can make an informed decision. Maybe you'll get lucky and another slickdealer will see your post, pm you and have just what you want...stranger things have happened. Good luck

Try diamondsonweb.com. I haven't purchased from there but someone told me that's we're they bought their rings from recently

Jewelry stores have clearance items they can show you if you ask. I agree that buying a ring that a guy is selling would be worth looking into. I've known people to sell rings because she said 'no' or things suddenly went sour and the rings is not returnable. Their bad luck is your best luck! Sometimes you can find one that isn't even "used"!! ;-)
$1000 is certainly enjoy to get a nice ring with. Don't get me wrong I love my bling but to me I living within my means and not having an expensive ring that will get me robbed is more important. $6000 rings sure are pretty but are they comfy to wear ALL THE TIME. Also many women only wear their wedding rings after they have been married for a year or so. They 'catch' on stuff and they really are not comfortable to wear. |
Thank you all for your input, I will be checking Costco, Craigslist and the websites mentioned. I'm not in a rush so I will wait to get the right deal.

Some retail stores will do a buy back from an existing customer if they are looking to upgrade and then sell their ring at a much lower cost than new. The rings are cleaned up to look new at a much lower cost. Also check eBay daily deals they occasionally have rings.
