I wish people would stop calling these things headphones----they are not. They are earbuds. Thumbs down for wasting my time. Headphones go on top of or around the ears.

At the same time it would be helpful if earbuds were added to the thread title for people who are looking for them specifically. :bounce:

Sold by Pinnacle Deals, fulfilled by Amazon.

Any chance these are counterfeit? I've read that Sennheiser's are counterfeited and sold by smaller resellers on ebay and other sites. I'm not sure how to authenticate.

Agreed.

Sadly my favorite Sennheiser earbuds were discontinued and I don't know which current ones are like them.

I'm not taking any risks after reading a few reviews claiming they were counterfeit when sold by amazon third party.

I've received counterfeit Sennheisers buying first party too. Unfortunately, It seems the only wayt to be sure is to pick them up at B&M now.

A few quick notes.
1. If they were counterfeit, they would be sold as "brand new" not refurbished..
2. If they were counterfeit, the seller's seller rating wouldn't be 93% positive..
3. If this seller sold counterfeit parts from China I doubt Amazon.com would fulfill orders for them or associate themselves with them..

I think you are pretty safe in this case, but do watch out for ebay..

Can someone please explain to me how these are amazon third party? At worst the look to me like second party, or even first party considering they are fulfilled by Amazon? Maybe i don't get this whole "party" business...

hyperz69 02-13-2013 06:18 AM

Fulfilled by Amazon is when a 3rd party Merchant ships the items to Amazon, and Amazon takes care of everything from Website to Fulfillment.

1st party = you
2nd party = amazon
3rd party = some other company selling things through amazon

Gotcha thanks! Is it naive of me to assume that a 3rd party through amazon is reliable/trustworthy provided that 3rd party seller is reputable (based on rating and history)?

proro1974 02-13-2013 07:23 AM

i bought 2 of these last month and going to buy another couple. the 475s sound just as good to my novice ears as the 485s and theyre half the price.

hi4noon 02-13-2013 08:13 AM

technically they're referred to as In-Ear Monitors (IEMs)

lantzuh 02-13-2013 08:27 AM

I bought a couple pairs... sadly i think the 375 is a better model. I always thought the higher the model number the better the headphones but not in this case :(

TY tho!

I always thought fulfilled by Amazon means that they bought a bulk order from amazon and in return contract out amazon to ships those units out. Instead of shipping things back and forth which cost a lot more money.

Thanks, but you might want to tell this to the OP. I usually avoid this sort of listening device (lol) because I'm uncomfortable with something inside my ears

Vheissus310 02-13-2013 09:18 AM

In 4 1. Lets see what happens.

Yes. Seems much less likely that you'd get something counterfeit, but I wouldn't exclude the possibility.

Br0wNb0y 02-13-2013 09:50 AM

Thanks .. I'll try these out

"Refurbished" just means that now you won't be suspicious when they come in a plastic bag.

Close, but wrong.

Amazon is the 1st party, you are the 2nd party and some other company is the 3rd party.

My apologies if my office has frozen my brain but just to be clear, aren't the distinctions:

1st Party Sales: Sennheiser selling it's earbuds
2nd Party: Amazon selling Sennheiser's earbuds
3rd Party: Bobs Buds selling Sennheiser's earbuds through an Amazon listing

No.

2nd party is the buyer; 1st party is the "original" seller/manufacturer, third party is a reseller.

Totally agree

jjstables 02-14-2013 05:23 AM

Came for the headphones, almost left because of the earbuds, but stayed for the passive-aggressive semantics.
