I cashed in on this promo a few months ago to meet minimum on my Chase Ink Bold Card. Bought $5,000 worth of cards for $5.95 (2 Day Air Shipping Cost).

Do these work for covering the minimum purchase amount on an AMEX card for the sign up bonus?

Terms and conditions say no. Be careful when trying to scam Amex for points. They have a fraud team that specifically looks for this. I got 2 of my accounts suspended for trying to send payments to myself via Paypal trying to hit minimums faster. After they lifted the suspension I got hit with a $2,500 limit per account.

What you're referring to (an Amex Financial Review) has nothing to do with points, and everything to do with behavior that might make you look like a credit risk (e.g., trying to get free cash advances).

True, however my goal was hitting the minimum for my bonus faster regardless of what they thought I was trying to do. Learned my lesson, got my 150k points, and closed my account.

What exactly did you try to do to warrant such an action from them?
Did you buy Paypal prepaid cards with your Amex?

I sent a payment from my personal PayPal account to my business account to try and hit minimum for my bonus (I had opened 2 other cards at the same time). After I got my points I had planned on simply refunding the payment to avoid PayPal fee's.

Thanks for the heads up. My company just put a recognition program in place and it was killing the cheapskate in me to pay the $4.95 Visa gift card fee and the $5.95 Amex fee.
