can you comment on the longevity of the bookbag? might bite on this if it can last a couple years

TVMaster 02-13-2013 05:43 PM

Does it come in any other colors?

I'm with you on this one. Going to college so I need some type of sturdy semi-sexy bag for laptop and other crap

yomanyo 02-13-2013 10:51 PM

Is this recommeded for a 7th grader to carry a bunch of books to school.

notremiss 02-14-2013 03:38 AM

I work in the "pharmaceutical" industry. Is this recommended for someone carrying a lot of product with the need to be discrete?

flipg711 02-14-2013 05:18 AM

This bag will last you for years

You dont need this bag, you can turn any bag into your weed bag, just not those mesh ones. You may want to get a dry-bag though, like for camping or kayaking. Those probably seal from smells better. Lol

armiger9 02-14-2013 08:02 AM

Has anyone tried squeezing a larger, 17" laptop in this bag?

the_ENEMY_ 02-14-2013 08:07 AM

crap I don't know if I want one of these. I just got the toshiba 855 15.6" laptop from staples and have nowhere to keep it. I doubt I will need a backpack but you never know, and the price is great on that briefcase. Is there any case out there that will hold the laptop while using it? Such as a shell to resist damage from falls? That would be ideal since I have young children.

aviinc818 02-14-2013 08:32 AM

Perfect timing. Thanks

For some reason Amazon has this backpack listed as 18", but this review [amazon.com] says he can't fit a 17" Asus in the bag. That said, Amazon is charging $70 for this bag, so this seems like a pretty great deal. If I hadn't bought so much other shit lately I would be all over this.

Tell me about it. I'll probably flip (to the dark side) when my AmEx statement arrives!

CruzImperial 02-14-2013 09:08 AM

I'm pretty sure this is the backpack on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-PA1...B0036Z34BS

Also, here it is at Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Toshiba...e/15172331

So, still cheaper than those places.

funinco10 02-14-2013 11:01 AM

In 4 1 backpack - Thanks!

sdaddicted 02-14-2013 11:30 AM

That looks like a rebranded Wenger/Swissgear, and I'm not saying that like it's a bad thing. Wonder if they're made in the same factory.

thealmightygrog 02-14-2013 12:46 PM

only a couple reviews here, but makes me question the durability http://us.toshiba.com/accessory/PA1452U-1BS6/

egkr 02-14-2013 06:33 PM

Weight: 2.3 lbs ?????the bag itself seems heavy

jarrettbraun 02-14-2013 08:34 PM

I'm currently looking for a laptop backpack for a 17.3" (16.38"(W) x 1.39"(H) x 10.79"(D)). I will be traveling soon and I also want something to replace my current school bag. If anyone knows of any good deals on a laptop of that size, PLEEEEASE hit me up on PM or this post. I would greatly appreciate it.

PS I prefer Amazon, because of Prime and a giftcard, but am willing to shop almost anywhere. Thanks again!

laptopquestions 02-14-2013 08:40 PM

After reading several PA1452U-1BS6 reviews, durability seems to be an issue.

Sammich 02-16-2013 05:11 PM

Ugh the search continues for a 17" laptop bag... Really who makes 16" laptops anyway?

schadenfreude 02-17-2013 06:47 PM

Still bought it anyway even though it was $22 this morning, younger brother needs a book bag and a laptop bag so two birds with one stone. Was going to buy him the swiss gear stuff, but eh good enough.

turnne 02-26-2013 08:29 AM

was this the same backpack that was $21.99 two weeks ago?

funinco10 02-26-2013 08:30 AM

I bought this backpack last week and like the quality. It does fit my 17" Dell laptop in the center pocket. It will fit in the laptop pocket but it is a VERY tight squeeze and the center is fine for me.

Medic311 02-26-2013 08:31 AM

why is this FP? is this bag really this good?

i bought one of those red Swiss Wenger bags last year for $31 on some FP. those are much much better

SOFR80 02-26-2013 08:32 AM

i bought both the extreme and extreme plus backpacks and they were at the same price. I definitely like the extreme plus more. The Plus is much more roomy with 2 handles and seems sturdier. If you want a roomier bag, wait around for the extreme plus.

Brandon_O 02-26-2013 08:36 AM

I bought this last week and got it in yesterday. I haven't gotten a chance to use it, but to me the quality looks up to par with my Swissgear backpack.

splchevete 02-26-2013 08:47 AM

I got this for 21 or 22, awesome bag, edited, i got the bigger one, this one seems smaller. i love it

Elpee 02-26-2013 08:51 AM

Gee, I have no way to pay thru Paypal... Weird.

chong67 02-26-2013 08:53 AM

I got the Targus for $5 when its on sale at Frys or BB. It is not heavily padded as I dont like to carry paddings on top my things that I want to carry.

terrydude47 02-26-2013 09:00 AM

These bags are Swiss Gear knockoffs. I have both.I bought four of the extreme plus bags last week for 22 bucks each. They are identical in looks/pockets. The difference is the zipper latches and the handle that is braded on. The Swiss gear has two brads and the Toshiba bag has one. But for 22 bucks and if they last a year of heavy use, they are a steal.

Edit to add

These bags are the smaller ones without the braded handle. (metal cable ).

LOTS of manufacturers make 15.6 inch which is closer to 16 than 15 and accounting for slight variations of bezel and housing mean that a 16 inch laptop bag should work for all if not most of them.

This is THE best back pack I've ever owner, and I've owned a lot, from Booq on down. The insert is really good for taking some discs with you and easy access to them by just pulling the insert out. I've had it for 4 years and it's still like new, and I carry about 15lbs worth of crap in it, from my 8 pound laptop and power cord, my ipad and power cord, my Asus Infinifty with dock and power cord, nintendo ds, ps3 controller for playing mame, and hdmi cables and so on.

If you can find it, get this [newegg.com]!

it also fits my mac book pro 17 quite sweetily in the laptop compartment too, although the ends does peek up at the top. it is not a tight fit since macbook pros are slimmer.

fair point to make, i made the conclusion from looking at it

but then again i guess you can't judge a book by its cover

dcobb 02-26-2013 10:43 PM

I got in on this deal a week ago for $22 (though this backpack looks slightly different), it arrived two days ago and I have to say I love it! Very padded, roomy but without looking too bulky. Very good purchase!

lnatividad 02-27-2013 03:39 AM

I just got the backpack today and its well made and has lots of room. No brainer slickdeal! Im going to get the briefcase next!

Unless I'm doing something wrong, the discounted price is now $27.00. I'd pay 17, but not 27...

How would a 13.3" laptop fit in this? Would it be too big?
