Doubt it unless you transfer BA miles to AA miles

You don't transfer AA miles to BA. You book AA flight on BA website. Seats are very limited though.

Nice deal and all, but why did you choose the "TV" category? Try travel.

Booking through BA would not show the reduced mileage rate as you would be booking with BA miles not AA

yup i know. This deal is for AA only.

m124 02-13-2013 06:24 PM

This deal can only booked over the phone, hence a $25 booking fee per traveler. And since the travel dates are so close in, another $75 fee for traveling within the next 21 days. This deal was out a couple of days ago on other venues, but I personally thought it was a bad deal.

And for those asking about BA miles, the answer is no.

Blade2000 02-13-2013 06:34 PM

On a separate note, American and US Airways are officially merging as of a few hours ago.

The reported deal would need approval from competition regulators and a US bankruptcy court before going ahead.

I know this is entirely off topic but I never find any flights from Cinci-Hawaii on BA. Any ideas how I can try. Should I call them ?? I was hoping I will find AA flights but never find any destinations even for summer.

OP, Thanks for sharing
I would have jumped on this deal if I didn't have my first born coming up in the next two weeks.

Wow! is that normal or a special??

xnone 02-13-2013 07:11 PM

We just came back from a $167 + 25k Avios round trip to Hawaii-

Cleveland <-> LA - $167 RT on Southwest
LA <-> Lihue, Kauai - 25,000 RT BA Avios flying on AA

Dates are pretty tough to find, we booked in October.

bastafidli 02-13-2013 07:17 PM

This is pretty standard offer. Yes, you can use BA miles for this flight. I did it few times.

Thanks for pointing this out... I was aware of the booking fee but forgot about the $75.00 fee.

Its normal rate for avios.

oyouno 02-14-2013 02:28 AM

Also on AA i think they charge you 75dollar fee if you do not book more then 21days in advance when you use your AA miles. So basically thats how they make up some money. So to avoid that fee you have about 1 week from today to book.

Nice deal on really short notice though. Avoid the 75dollar fee if you book within the next 7days... But they still charge you 25 for over the phone booking.

It will be approved and there will eventually be a merging of points and partners.

Not a chance it will not be approved.

Sorry to also go OT, but does anyone know a good US Airways credit card available right now? Did a little research but all the cards I see have an annual fee, which I'd like to avoid paying. Would love to get some miles before the merger and get more AA miles once everything is said and done.

Don't lie, you paid 25,000 miles + $5 :P

Seriously, for us West Coasters using BA Avios to Hawaii is a sweet deal. It's frankly the only reason I opened up the BA card so as to get 100,000 Avios miles (now long gone). I've got 2 tickets booked and am about to go! They're even better to use to get to Kauai as that place is usually more expensive to get to than the other islands. The availability does kind of suck but we just use them in the "off season" and when booking in advance I have always been able to get them.

Get the one with the annual fee. That piddly amount is well worth the miles. Especially if you consider that you'll be able to combine them with AA eventually :D

$89 annual fee to get just 40,000 miles is worth it? I've gotten about 20 cards in the last 4-5 years and only had to pay $69 for the Chase Southwest card two times. Don't think I'd be willing to fork out more cash and get less miles. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait to get more AA cards later this year or next year. Thanks, tho.

PCTools 02-15-2013 09:23 AM

Instead of messing with this, I just purchased (4) tickets from DTW to HNL for $450 each, including tax.

This is the cheapest fare I have ever seen to fly to HNL.

United Airlines has some very good fares.

Good luck
