If you own a car you should have one of these in the glovebox. At this price there's no excuse.

charms 02-13-2013 08:29 PM

If you have an android device getting the obd Bluetooth scanner is also a good option. They go for $11 on eBay and download the torque app.

Thanks for pointing this out. I needed one of these, but have not noticed it on Amazon at this price.

Thanks again,

Dead, but thanks for pointing this thing out. I have an VW/Audi vehicle and found one for my vehicle http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...HMWMCZ9EID

Sure beats the $500+ option for a VAG-COM to reset my service reminder indicator, etc..

I have this adapter from a Amazon sale a few years ago. Works good, does the job.

I agree with the person above, if you have an Android phone, the Torque app ($5) and a $25 Bluetooth OBDII adapter rock. Not only can you read and reset error codes, you can also instantly look them up on th Internet. On top of that, you can read every sensor and display it on your phone like MPG, Temperature, exhaust temp, catalytic converter temp and so on and so on...

Anyone have a similar recommendation for a bluetooth OBD-II adapter for iOS/iphone?

damnthatsadeal 02-14-2013 01:48 AM

I've had one of these for well over a year now, and its still rockin. One of the best investments I've ever made. I'm a DIYer and this saved me tons of time and money.

Your best bet would be to get a cheap Android device and this scanner. Seriously, bluetooth for iOS is done very poorly. The only devices that I've ever seen to work with an iOS device were $200+. At that price you can get a used phone without a plan and buy the Android bluetooth adapter.

Other guy said $11 on eBay, do you know which that is?

jbrns7 02-17-2013 01:11 PM

I'm pretty sure he is talking about this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Soliport-Bl...th+adapter

I think it used to be around $11. Prices do fluctuate with these. This one had a bunch of reviews which said it didn't work right or caused problems. So I went with the one which was $10 more and had better reviews. Your call, the cheap one probably works just as well.
