Finally a WD Red deal alert that didn't involve an idiot posting a $150 price. Good price.

bennynihon 02-13-2013 10:09 PM

more like $140 shipped. I'd round up a penny to $140 as opposed down 99 cents to $139 ;)

How strict are nix on their "limit 2" per customer? Can I just do two orders with them or will they cancel? Really need to grab four of these.

Oops, sorry fixed now:doh:

waveofdestiny 02-13-2013 10:35 PM

Be sure to go here: http://www.amazon.com/WD-Red-NAS-...gital+3TB#

And search for: tell us about a lower price?

then click that and fill it out with info from NCIX's website. Good if we can get Amazon to PM ;)

Tell amazon about lower price:

Tempting, but I bought a Seagate on sale... needed a drive fast after a one year old WD Caviar Black died leaving me with no backup and the Reds were stuck on $150.

Dead black after a year? Scary! I use those as high reliability, fast data backups for some of my critical data.

EDIT: Sent the PM request to Amazon. Here is to hoping they follow through! If they do, I think I'll grab 2. Been needing more storage for a long while now.

pbmpharmacist 02-14-2013 06:14 AM

I already have 4 of these, don't need another. But this is a great price for a quality product. Plus, NCIX does an outstanding job of packing these.

He had it for $139.99 and changed it to $140. You were about four minutes after, but that's probably how long it takes to make a new thread and validate it is correct and has the right info, like yours usually do.
Repped for effort!

chainsaw 02-14-2013 07:12 AM

After waiting for this price for weeks, I finally decided to pull the trigger on 4 a couple days ago when Amazon had them at $150 ...They were delivered yesterday.. UGH... and I tried to get Amazon to PM / credit me the difference this morning, but of course they won't.

If they PM this again, I will just re-order them and Amazon can eat the shipping back on the ones I bought for $150.

**edit** I also submitted the price match earlier.. so here's to hoping they do it.

pokymon 02-14-2013 07:17 AM

Sucks... I bought four drives 2 weeks ago for $147 each. One drive DOA - sent back for replacement, had to pay shipping. That's their policy.???

I put in my Amazon PM request. I hope others do too. There's not even NCIX cash back incentives with chase freedom or large-wallet, so I'm banking on Prime to sweeten the deal.

bennynihon 02-14-2013 09:27 AM

I think Amazon is snubbing their nose at us, because they've raised it to $162. So much for a pricematch

DaSoul 02-14-2013 09:33 AM

I put PM request in also

curious about the same

spidrw 02-14-2013 11:06 AM

Dead...there goes the Amazon matching.

Zephon13 02-14-2013 11:23 AM

I'd go with Seagate Constellations over this for a NAS setup. More consistent performance and even better reliability. Intellipower is meh... Even a regular Seagate Barracuda outperforms one of these on most tasks.

mike808 02-14-2013 11:38 AM

I don't get the whole "Let's get Amazon to price match!" rally. If you're willing to pay the price offered for the product, then buy it from seller offering it at that price.

If NCIX and other sellers are rampantly losing sales to "amazon price matches", then as a business, the obvious solution is to stop spending your resources effectively advertising for your competitor (amazon).

And if you're set on only purchasing from Amazon, then stop looking at what any other seller is offering products for.

GoatSaver 02-14-2013 11:57 AM

I'm going to re-post this on this thread, sorry if that's annoying:

WD's color codes:

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/internal/desktop/

Blue = Solid performance and reliability for everyday computing.
Red = Designed and tested for RAID environments.
Black = Maximum performance for power computing.
Green = Cool, quiet operation for efficient eco-conscious computing.
VelociRaptor = High-performance storage for power users.

Black and VelociRaptor have 5-year warranty
Blue and Green have 2-year warranty
Red has 3-year warranty

Black is only one with 4TB options at this point.

Refer to link for additional info.

There are many reasons that some need amazon. I have prime so enjoy faster shipping. I also have several hundred in amazon gift cards. So why not try to get them to price match?

Yup. I have about 800 bucks in gift card credit at Amazon. So thats why some of us with PM along with the fact that we have prime also.

cowguy 02-14-2013 01:51 PM

Looks like its back in stock

ax77 02-14-2013 02:01 PM

the amazon deal for $146 a few days ago was better since it was free shipping and no tax (CA) for me. It was actually through an amazon seller, fulfilled by amazon, that's why no tax. I ordered 5 but they only fulfilled 3 so I'm still looking for some more.

The "Black" I had came from inside an Elements enclosure and it was built in Malaysia - so I think it must have been seconds or something bogus. I doubt they will warranty it. Not too thrilled with WD right now because of this.

How much are those Constellations again? Care to share your reliability figures. As far as I'm concerned, 3TB hard drives haven't been out long enough in a consumer environment to say which is more reliable. Only the marketing info from so and so hard drive manufacturer making claims about greater reliability.
