haven't seen price this low in a while. I was thinking about getting the GT50 (Amazon [amazon.com]currently has 55GT50 for $1399 which is great price) until I say this price for VT50.

Never dealt with Abes of Maine so can't say anything about them , maybe someone can get Amazon to price match.

I know we're not supposed to look to the past and regret better deals that may have occurred previously, bjt i can't help it in this case. That 55" gt50 was $1349 for the longest time on amazon, and was frequently available for $1249 after coupon with free shipping and no tax on pauls tv. I don't know if i would consider $1399 for a gt50 now to be a good deal. Of course, i can't take a delorean to 88mph to go back in time several weeks to buy one.

That said, i think this price for a 55" vt50 is a great one, and is probably the best straight up purchase price i've seen for the past 2 months. I'm surprised they still have any in stock.

This TV is still $1599.99 at Pauls TV when you use coupon SAVE400, plus 3% CB at Mr R urlhasbeenblocked.

My thinking is the same as yours. I wish I scooped up a 55GT50 for $1349 or $1249 but I held out hoping for a lower price... which never happened because the stock dried up. I'd pay $1399 for a GT50 from a place with a good return policy (in case I get a defective one) but Amazon and PaulsTV are both sold out.

$1599 for a 55VT50 is a great price... but at this point maybe its worth waiting two months for the new models to hit the street.

Pauls still has this tv, it's not sold out and the 3% from Mr R helps as well
