I bought this last year at the same price. Some how I am not able overclock my 1333 RAM beyond 1600. I hope some one can shed some light on that.

well, if you have rated 1333 ram and are running it at 1600 stable, depending on the ram this is actually not too shabby.

What ram do you have? That makes a huge difference.

Excellent board for the $... I have used it in a few builds for friends.

Biostar rebates are the worst of the lot. Lots of crazy instructions. Nearly impossible to track, it wont show up on the website, you will have to call in to the biostar office and get redirected. And some 14-18 week processing times. I did a rebate in Nov 12 and its not even approved yet.

Actually it is rated 1600 but the 2500K supports only upto 1333 that is why it was dragging it down to 1333? I was only able to uptick it to 1600 - same as the rating.

Right, the 2500k supports 1333 without overclocking. But it is the board that allows you to overclock. This board supports and works with higher ram------BUT that is only if the ram will allow you to overclock it higher. Your ram is rated 1600 cas 10, so if you try to punch it higher, chances are it won't work. You might be able to get it to work with looser timings (cas11) with higher mhz, or with higher voltage vs the stock 1.5 volts, but as long as you can get 1600, that might be the cap for those. You are being limited by the ram. Now if you buy 2133 mhz ram, and put it on this board, it should run 2133mhz. Does that makes sense?

You can't just overclock every ram out there, the ram has to be rated more or less where your desired overclock wants to be. It isn't the board's fault

And yes, biostar as well as msi take a little longer with the rebates, but I always get them back. They just take the full time frame if there is a range. If you get to the end of the time limit, then give them a call to see what's up.

poormanq45 02-15-2013 06:50 AM

Is there a way to check if this is available in store?

puddnhead 02-15-2013 08:45 AM

Not bad, but FYI was $10 cheaper 2 1/2 months ago. Ignore the $135 at newegg, that is not a competitive price.

Thanks. I thought I would be able overclock as it says "Compatible with Intel XMP auto-overclocking function (available with selected models)",but I guess I should be fine as don't do any gaming.

Nah, it will be great for gaming too. It doesn't make THAT much of a difference. Hardly noticable from the reviews I have seen above 1600mhz anyways.

The 1155 board is the most elusive deal for me. I keep missing these. I missed the Microcenter extreme6 board as well.

Cookiemole 02-25-2013 05:51 PM

This deal is back on. I couldn't get the free shipping code to work, so it was $99.99 + $6.12 shipping - $20 rebate = $86.11 for me.
