Not a good deal, especially with tax. Target got rid of stock for $299, and I have seen deals as low as $369, no tax. And we are talking brand new on those.
$350(when you add tax) for a used, scratched up (grade 4) iPad. No Thanks.

Pay $49 more and get a refurb directly from Apple.

Is it easy to use a flash drive with the iPad 4? Wife is thinking of a 16Gb and we want to make sure that will be enough...

I think that was meant to be a jab at Apple. Must be a fandroid with nothing useful to add.

At least we don't have to pay a ridiculous premium for extra memory! All we have to do is wait for an SD on a microSD.

Much better than iOS! But get a better tab to do that.

So you go into iPad deals just to trash the iOS? I don't get it, don't you have better things to do? I'm not saying which OS is better, just found it odd that you're commenting on this thread.

Not sure if you are still mocking away at Apple or not, but the apps you are referring to is to turn the iPad into a USB storage basically (not the other way around). The only way to solve the storage problem would be to buy a 32GB or 64GB iPad or use the cloud.

I am NOT an Apple fan personally but my wife and 20 year old son LOVE iPod and my wife wants an iPad.

I don't know that much about them but i DO understand they stick it to you on memory upgrades. I was just hoping that there was a way around it so to speak by moving files on and off with an Apple connector and/or Flash Drive or SD card.

I guess what I am hearing here is that this is NOT at all possible.

Thanks!

If you need access to files, use the cloud, easiest way to do it

You dont have to buy them from them,to use any movies or songs. But you still need to sync the media with itunes to get them in your ipad.
Or you can use a file manager like ifunbox to transfer the media(in the converted format) into the tab,if you know where to put them.

No wasy way to add external storage to an ipad. I think you can buy an adapter for a memory card though.

Some competitors offer SD card slots, or even a usb port but those all run Android or other software. Not Apple's iOS. There are some options for you. I know Seagate has a wireless external hard drive which can connect to the ipad to watch movie's etc, but when I looked into it, reviews were pretty bad.

Also look into certain apps like dropbox, or splashtop desktop streamer. Dropbox lets you tap into the cloud to access content (2GB free). Splashtop lets you control your desktop or laptop from your ipad so you can access content stored there. I've used it to watch videos without a problem but for some reason, for the last 6 months it hasn't worked so well (I get some lag and buffering issues). There are competitors to those apps as well. Good luck.

BTW, if you can get a refurbed directly from Apple, they come with a full 1 year warranty.

Just bought an open box ipad 3 for $339 in microcenter in NJ. It still has full one year warranty.

I asked microcenter to match target's price but they refuse.

FYI, the Seagate wifi external drive has a firmware update that solves the issues with the iPad. I have one, and it streams movies to my iPad 1 just fine. It's worth it for an extra 500gb of storage.

What kind of condition are 4 or 5 grade used electronics from Cowboom? Seems everything is described as having significant, heavy, or some extreme amount of scratches at top doilar prices.

Hmm so i'm a little offtopic, but i pretty much found a completely mint PS3 with uncharted 3 bundle for only $150, is it worth it?

using code PS330 it makes it 149.99

The trade in on amazon is $148.50 lol, so i guess it is?

shivan128 02-25-2013 11:42 AM

Received my grade 6 ipad on friday of last week, flawless back and front.

ysert 02-25-2013 12:13 PM

We had iPad generation 1 for my little Princess with grade level 6 and it was like new (except non-existing charger, earphone etc which was fine as it was posted like that and we were fine). Now I am looking for iPad 3 for mom but the "/notescomments" does not really give you much as it were. If you can find grade 6, that would be perfect. Many of my friends say grade 5's are really good too.

Now some marked as Grade 5 and it states it has major scratches due to removal of engraving at the back (and goes on like "otherwise functions well")... That's it, no comment on the front look etc. If it is only the engraving removal, I would be perfectly fine since it'll be in a case anyway...

You'd have to jailbreak. I don't program, don't do any of that stuff, and I figured it out.
you jailbreak, then download mxtube as well as ifile from cydia (like the app store, but for jailbroken apps). Those two programs allow one to download and save youtube videos and put them onto a 32g SD card, and that's the external memory storage. you can't access apps directly from the card, but you CAN play videos and music directly from the card (used to have to transfer the video from SD card, to ipad, then play, then discard, but not anymore, it seems.) Mxtube is just a donation, and ifile is, I believe, $4 or $5, and well worth it. 16g is barely enough space for apps, let alone pictures, videos, and music.

Well, if you buy a used one at cowboom, there would be no warranty and it'd be most likely alot cheaper (if you wait for a good sale)...

Just saying it might be worth it to save the money and skip the warranty (since 99% of the time the issues with an iPad are due to drops/accidents, which are not covered anyway). Then that makes the warranty breaking issue a non-issue and you can go from there. However, keep in mind that while JB's are easy there are invariably some weird behaviors that come along with it.

My recommendation would be to buy from Apple (since warranty is important to you) and either buy a higher storage version, or a 16GB version and get some of the various (free) cloud storage options. You can still save by buying an Apple refurb (16GB will come back in/out of stock, just keep checking Apple's site... and Apple refurbs are as good as new with full warranty. Slightest difference is that it comes a different Apple box with no pic on the front (and a small refurb notice on the top), but still has all accessories packaged exactly as new. Heck Apple still replaces the entire shell (and battery) on all their refurbs... so brand new screen).

QuestorJones 02-27-2013 09:14 AM

By the way, Refurbished iPad3s w/WIFI are back in stock:

16GB White/Black.....$379
32GB White...............$469
64GB White/Black.....$549

But does it work at the moment with iOS 6? I have a jailbroken iPad too but of course some people want to know if USB will work right off the bat not after jailbreaking it. Android tabs will work with USB without rooting and if that's what they want..then Android tabs seem to be the logical device to get.

dont know, why dont you update yours and let me know. lol. Just like with jailbroken ipad, my rooted android devices with whatever ROM, I do not jump to update right away from a stable platform without some people working out the kinks whenever a new update comes out.

i see your point about how android devices micro sd will always work right out the box. but people get ipads simply to use iOS and if they are smart they will jailbreak it eventually for the many benefits but especially for traveling with thumb drive and camera connect kit to expand their storage essentially. No android rom will ever function like iOS, no matter how much they try to mimic it and iOS will never function like an android. So if someone wants to experience whatever device the way it was meant to be experienced, only way it to simply get that device and deal with its particular shortcomings.
