How does this compare to the DMC FZ60 (which I recently ordered having missed out on the LX7 a week ago)? From a layman's standpoint, the FZ60 has a significantly more powerful zoom lens (25-600 vs 24-90 - 24x vs 3.8x) and captures images at 16MP vs 10MP. On the flip size, the LX7 does appear to have better video support (60p vs 60i @ 1920x1080), slightly higher continuous frame shooting mode (no surprise because of the smaller sensor), articulated touch screen, RAW and hot-shoe. The lens is different, but I don't know how to compare the two (Summilux on the LX7 vs Elmarit on the FZ60).
Personally, the higher video rate would be nice, but the other advantages I listed of the LX7 I don't really care about (articulated display, RAW, hot-shoe). One of the main features I'm looking for is good quality indoor images while zooming. The zoom is my main concern with the LX7. Am I selling myself short in some way by going with the FZ60? |

One significant difference I did notice when looking at the snapsort comparison is that the LX7 has a wider aperture capability than the FZ60 (1.4 vs 2.8). So i would assume that it takes better low light pictures. I don't have first hand experience with either camera though... |
Tax in MD kills this deal for me. Looks like I'll go with the J&R deal. Thanks OP!

Fyi... J&R doesn't currently have it in stock. |

J&R will be getting more Friday. With the code 'ATJANDR' it was another $10 off, bringing it to $289 out the door. It should be here the middle of next week. Not to mention the free shipping Adorama offered was 7-10 days anyway. I can wait :) |
I ordered one via J&R last week but it's still backordered. Jumped in on this deal and cancelled the other one. Thanks OP!! Repped!

I've ordered warehousedeals cameras in the past--"cosmetic imperfections to the front" can mean anywhere from smudges on the paint to imperfections on the lens itself!! So be prepared for a potential return. |
Do you know if all the auto lens caps sold on Amazon are the same? I just ordered one from EZFoto from Amazon. It looks the same to me, but I'm not 100% sure.

the price is quite attracting, but i prefer this kind of SLR, and i like the Canon ones

Thanks for the response. I watched the video you highlighted and was going to get that one. In another thread for this camera, a person also referenced that video but had recommended a different auto lens cap. I'm hoping they are all the same. Was the one you received manufactured by JJC? Kind of wish I would have just ordered from your link.

Wanted the black one but am settling for the white model.

Deal is dead at adarama, bh photo and Amazon. $349 all 3 places now.
|
Just got mine.. Do we need an SD card to place more pics? I only took 4 pics and says memory is full? I would have thought the harddrive would have allowed atleast 100 or so pics.. 4 is nothing!
