JasonKR 02-19-2013 02:03 AM

Compare to HL-2280DW deal, what are the differences? lack of LCD display?
anyone? :D
Edit: oh no copy and scan :(

nebody00 02-19-2013 02:18 AM

Love this printer! Prints super fast and uses cheap toner. :)

Only con was setting up the WIFI required a USB/Ethernet connection initially.

I think two sided scan/copy and auto sheet feeder.

I bought two of the 2280s at the Staples sale last year for $80 each after coupon specials.

neso617 02-19-2013 02:31 AM

lowest price at Amazon so far, nice find.

Thanks, imma just jump into next 2280DW deal :S

ETP 02-19-2013 02:36 AM

The power cord is the only issue on one of them. It is hard to seat it so it will stay in. But as long as you don't move it all is well in Smallville.

How are people able to apply this coupon when it states "Minimum purchase requirement of $75 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies"
Since that printer certainly has an instant savings.

HarryH3 02-19-2013 05:23 AM

I love this printer! Had mine for about 2 years now and it just keeps on chugging along. It's fast, prints on both sides of the paper, and uses less than 1 watt of power in standby mode.

I didn't have to do that.
I did have to use the Brother software though. It will then search for the network for the printer.

It's got a tiny footprint and it's very fast. It can hold an entire ream of paper. Since it's wireless you can put it anywhere. It's sitting in my garage on a shelf - out of the way, like a printer should be.
Very happy with this printer.

Lakee911 02-19-2013 05:51 AM

Brother makes a decent laser printer. What's nice is the toner is cheap, however, I've found the drivers a bit on the flakey side. For the price though, can't go wrong really.

taurus2007 02-19-2013 06:05 AM

This is a great deal but if you can get the 2280DW for $75 ($100-$25 coupon), then it is even better since you get both copy and scan functions with the 2280DW.

How is Brother with driver updates?

I am tired of HP not supporting new operating systems, and forcing you to buy a new printer everytime you upgrade Windows.

I have a pile of old HP printers (anyone want LaserJet 5L? ha ha ha) that I can't use anymore because HP does not offer new drviers for them. Luckily, with the last upgrade from XP to 7, I was able to load the XP drivers onto a print server, and then connected to the print server from a Win 7 machine. That is the only workaround I have been to come up with.

The 2280DW is a much larger unit, isn't it? One of the nice things about the 2270DW is that it's compact.

Assuming you are okay with the additional height of the 2280. I bought a 2280 over the holidays when Microcenter had an awesome deal ($79 I believe). It was going to be for my mom, but the height made it too big for where it had to go. I ended up gifting it instead to a friend who needed a good printer, and bought a 2270 instead for my mom.

My HP deskjet 8500 is still chugging along. One of the lower cost inks, but as soon as it gives up the ghost, I'm going to get a 2280 to replace it (or whatever exists at the time). I'm tired of expensive inks, clogged printheads, etc. A monochrome laser that just runs and runs for little $$ is the way to go. Hey, that's what I had in 1991!

putnamdefjab 02-19-2013 06:25 AM

I agree with some of the other posts on here, I love my 2270. Duplex is nice, and this thing fires out fast once it's warmed up. My wifi setup did require a teather, but only because of some of the filtering I do on my network. This is a great price and I would buy again if I needed a printer

xplicitone 02-19-2013 06:27 AM

I would love a $25 coupon from Staples - I'd get the 2280 there. I wish they didn't stop sending me e-mails lately for whatever reason.

I don't know about the updates ... probably pretty typical, I'd imagine. Most manufacturers stop supporting old printers w/ new OS.

I think HP makes a damn fine printer, but I will say the quality is beginning to go a bit downhill. When it comes to strictly printing, generally Windows drivers will support their printers just fine. All the other bells and whistles (read that as MFC) generally are not supported with a new OS.

I've had some winners and losers. Still have an old 2300dn that works great. Not too long after I bought it though, I had to get a new network card which HP sent for free though. I think they were victims of bad capacitors.

I also have a Dell 2130cn color laser that works great.

I've had some crappy HP OfficeJets and would never buy one again. Currently I have a multi-function that works pretty well, though some annoyances.

Never will I mess with inkjets again unless I have to for some reason.

Awesome! In for another! I've had this printer for about a year and loved it! Now ill have one up stairs and downstairs!

toolio20 02-19-2013 07:23 AM

LOVE all the informative posts here. Seriously. Vague comments like "toner is cheap" are incredibly helpful. /s

How much are you [owners] generally paying for toner? Where are you sourcing it? Is the pricing so variable that you stock up during sales or can you just replace as needed at your leisure? TIA

Yep. HP sucks at support, hence I no longer buy HP. I have a scanner sitting in my closet that I bought so I could Digitize negatives....will not work with Win 7 and HP won't support it. They are nothing like they used to be. Shame.

I've looked at that cartridge in the past. If you read the reviews it looks like that brand is a total crapshoot. :( I hope you get a good one. :)

I had a really horrible toner from Meritline. Right now I have a Linkyo that I got on special from SuperMediaStore for $10 shipped (Thanks SD!). It's working perfectly. Only time will tell how many pages it will actually print. ;)

Occasionally, Newegg will have the Brother OEM TN450 for $36 shipped. (It's more like $75 at the office supply stores!)

Have had this printer for two years and it's a great printer and reliable. Much cheaper per copy than inkjet and you don't have to worry about the ink drying up in the cartridges if you don't print often like with inkjet. I refilled my original starter cartridge for around $15 with a kit to make it one of the 2600 page cartridges. Worked like a charm. This is the cheapest price I've seen in recent history for this printer. No more $60 deals. Drum is expensive to replace. Cheaper to just buy another printer.

I've read some people say the scanner in the HL 2280 is crap and problematic but don't know from experience.

RonDo 02-19-2013 08:19 AM

Gonna use this to PM locally. Wanted a wifi printer. Thx OP.

shutterbug71 02-19-2013 08:44 AM

Don't know if this was mentioned, but there's an official Android app [google.com] from Brother which works very well on my 2170w model (older non-duplex model). I just used it yesterday to print a PDF from my phone.

I remember there used to be a way to enable AirPrint on this printer when I had an iPhone, but I'm not sure that's true anymore. It required something to be installed on a locally connected laptop/desktop. In any case, there is also an iPhone app [apple.com] which I can't vouch for but I assume works similarly to the Android app.

I own this printer and everyone's right, it's a beast. No problems and toner is nice and cheap

chi 02-19-2013 08:49 AM

Have had this printer since last August (6 months). The starter cartridge is starting to run out, need to find something cheap. My review is that it's reliable. Kinda bulky for a "compact" printer, considering my HP 1102W has much more of a lower profile with cheaper ink.

PetetheGreek 02-19-2013 08:54 AM

Where are you guys getting the 25 off 75 coupons? Ejunkie doesn't have them anymore

blunty 02-19-2013 08:57 AM

Great printer. Picked this up over 1.5 yrs ago for sub-$60 from Staples using PM and $25 off coupon. Still using the original cartridge and just over 300 pages. Excellent on wifi and love the duplex feature. There's an iOS app from Brother called Brother iPrint&Scan that allows you to print from your iDevices.

Superorb 02-19-2013 09:12 AM

I wonder if it will get any cheaper.

throwerm72 02-19-2013 09:19 AM

awesome I'v been looking for a monochrome laser printer that won't break the bank. Didn't think I'd get a wifi enabled device at this price. If it last half as long as my Samsung I'll be very pleased.

Thanks OP.

I did this but went with the official Brother one and got all for $102.50. I basically paid like $25 for the 2600page Brother toner.

Not saying I made it the best deal, but I got exactly what I want for a price I'm happy with.

Ophbalance 02-19-2013 09:25 AM

I never have. It's usually just cheaper to buy a SlickDeals printer!

archangel717 02-19-2013 09:32 AM

I've been using a 2170 for years, and its been an awesome printer. The wireless IS flaky on it though, so I'm happy to upgrade to this model. As others said, if you are looking to replace toner on an existing laser, you might as well spend a bit more and get this one. The only thing that sucks is that you don't get the high capacity cart with this model, BUT that's a minor gripe due to the great quality and price.

yawn505 02-19-2013 09:33 AM

In for one. Too good of a deal to pass up. I've been happy with my Brother laser printers in the past. This model will finally bring me wireless printing. Yay! No more passing the USB cable through the kitchen window... don't ask.

ArseneWenger 02-19-2013 09:33 AM

Will the drum on this last at least 5 years with light-moderate usage?

I've only ever replaced them in high end/high traffic laser printers that are leased. I'm sure several people who put a lot of mileage on their printers at home have needed to replace it, but more people with moderate usage never do. The drum translates the image to paper. Damaged drum = bad quality prints.

BrianC811 02-19-2013 09:38 AM

I have friends with this printer and they have had issues with the wireless and regularly had to redo it. Not sure what their issues were, but I think it had to do with the radios in their router. I personally have the step down from this and have never had a problem and just bought a toner cartridge from Amazon for $13 I believe so that's pretty hard to beat as a regular price!

hy_tek 02-19-2013 09:41 AM

The drum on any laser printer has a finite lifespan. That being said it's usually thousands or tens of thousands of pages before it needs to be replaced. As I mentioned in my original post it's cheaper just to buy a new printer than be gouged by Brother on a replacement drum when the time comes. For most casual users the drum life is a non issue. If you were using it in an office and cranking out hundreds of pages a day then maybe.

xenderwind 02-19-2013 09:45 AM

Damn I just bought this last month from amazon for $99. I haven't even opened it yet D: (still waiting to run out of ink on my old printer). I guess I should have waited.

I'm too lazy to check...are you saying that the toner for the 2170 is not compatible with this model? I'm thinking about upgrading but I've got a spare high yield toner cart (TN-360) so if it's not compatible I might as well stick with the 2170. Thanks.

Beatz 02-19-2013 09:56 AM

in for 1.. i can finally stop using all of the in-laws ink!

fo0bar 02-19-2013 10:03 AM

As mentioned, this model is small (as far as laser printers go), toner life seems to be good (I'm still on the demo cartridge after more than a year), and pretty fast once it gets warmed up. Drivers can sometimes be a pain, but I found that for network printing, if you tell the OS it's an HP Laserjet 1200 (PCL) with a duplexer installed, most of the features are replicated fine.

One thing not yet mentioned is it's power hungry. When warming up the lights in the room will dim briefly, something that didn't happen with the HP LJ1200 it replaced. Occasionally it will be enough to make the UPS in the same room complain about low voltage, but otherwise it doesn't cause problems.

moremoney 02-19-2013 10:06 AM

This is a great printer. Love mine! Inexpensive to use, fast and dependable.

eddard 02-19-2013 10:07 AM

My wife has this printer. It's a great printer and that's a good price.

enygma3000 02-19-2013 10:10 AM

thanks just got one....time to put away the HP photosmart D110 that kills me on ink (about $35 a pop, with seperate black and color cartridges) and my Canon 980 (that has about 6 cartridges or something like that and if one goes out or dries up the whole printer wont work!!!!! ahhhhhh!!!!) that I got with a Canon T1i deal and the only thing I use on it is the scanner. The stupied Canon has a SPECIAL gray cartridge that is supposed to give you the best Monochrome photo prints ever but I havent seen a decent one yet. Now the thing is what do I do with all these printers.....and I just forgot I also have a HP 1050 J410 series what ever all that crap means that I got on a $20 slickdeal about a year ago. I hope this new printer lives up to all the praise it gets!

ddddeal 02-19-2013 10:14 AM

Does anyone know of an economical laser printer that offers full color?

IIRC, the drum is rated for 12,000 pages. The drum is the part that the laser actually "writes" on, then the toner is applied to the drum, based on where the laser lit it. The toner is then transferred from the drum to the paper, then finally goes through the (very hot!) fusing rollers that melt the toner to the paper.

Some laser printers have the drum built into the toner cartridge, so you get a new drum with each replacement. As you might imagine, those cartridges cost more to replace.

For basic home use, it is quite likely that the drum in this printer will last for many years. Before I had this model I had an HP LaserJet 4 that I bought in 1993 or so. When I retired it two years ago it had printed less than 6,000 pages in total. (It needed new rollers inside, as the paper was jamming quite often. A roller kit is about $40 and there was a SD to get this printer for $55, plus free shipping(!) via a Staples PM and 25-off-75 coupon. That made it a no brainer for me and the printer arrived via FedEx at 10:30 AM the very next day!)

I just checked and we've printed 2,062 pages on our 2270DW in just over 2 years. At that rate it will be another 10 years before the drum might need replaced. :) Since we're a home full of nerds, it's likely that the printer will be replaced with something else before then. ;)

Yes they are different toners unfortunately. The 2170 uses TN360, and the 2200 series models use the TN450. The 2270 comes with a 700 sheet toner as opposed to the high capacity one good for like 2600 pages. That's my only gripe, but again, I need a new toner anyways, so why not just upgrade the whole printer.

macdaddy01 02-19-2013 10:57 AM

Got this printer for $63 (Staples emailed me a $40 coupon this week)!

jcx1984 02-19-2013 11:05 AM

Does this have automatic two sided scanning?

My current one has a feeder that if I feed 30 papers it'll dbl side scan...but its $120 more than this and I just bought it yesterday so well within return period.

My primary use for the printer would be to scan documents without being next to it having to manually scan

Interesting. You made me go an look that up. About 500 watts for the Brother and 300 watts for your HP, while printing. I'd assume it's due to the 2x as fast PPM rating of the Brother; gotta bake it on fast when you're in a hurry.

afawcett 02-19-2013 11:20 AM

Duplexing is a must for me, and I sold my 2170w after college with the intention of buying this printer. That was in 2010... I was looking for this printer on Craigslist but no one got back to me even though I offered their asking price. At least I'm getting a new printer full of toner.

bruteshot 02-19-2013 11:20 AM

I ordered from newegg with an extra toner and 25 off 100 coupon or whatever. anyway they already shipped it, already a departure scan from NJ and I used eggsaver shipping. seems quick

I have my account with Staples for over 9 years? They have never emailed me a single coupon.

I meant I never got any good coupon from them by email. I don't check my coupon wallet but most of them they are not very good coupons anyway.

Stunner2xx 02-19-2013 11:30 AM

work around

you could always fire up a virtual machine with the older version of the operating system that you need and then share out the printer.

ArseneWenger 02-19-2013 11:35 AM

What's the difference between this and the $50 Brother laser printer that pops up from time to time, around BF especially? Is that one not wireless?

1. Check your Staples Rewards account, and look at your "Coupon Wallet".
2. Check your Staples profile and make sure "Receive special savings by email:" says "Yes"
3. Check to see if they have your correct email address :)

Actually, you're getting a new printer with a bit of toner. Pretty much every printer sold today, whether inkjet or laser, comes with "Starter" cartridges that are only partially filled. The cartridge that comes with this printer is rated for around 450 pages. :( So set that deal alert for TN450 and watch for an SD to pop up on the high yield cartridge. :)

Thanks for the heads up. I know laser printers come with a starter cartridge, but I thought it was closer to 1000 page yield. Also, with my 2170w there was a sensor that detected when the toner is low. If you placed electrical tape over the sensor you could print several hundred more pages before the ink started fading.

Think of the toner as the "ink" in a laser printer instead of an inkjet cartridge. You get about 2600 pages out of the high capacity toner cartridge.

The drum is the main working part of any laser printer that heats up and transfers the toner to the paper. They last a very long time under home use. (years) Typically it's cheaper to buy a new printer than a new toner cartridge for a lower end laser printer like this. I own this it's a great home printer.

This would be a no-brain-er (even if you assume the ink is only worth $15). But I really don't like their return policy. May be I will find a Staples coupon and get the 2280dw for $75.

I avoid meritline like the plague. They sell really cheap knock off toner and inkjet cartridges that are inferior in quality from my experience. I have had nothing but trouble from any printing supplies I bought from them. Look elsewhere for reliable cartridges. I bought a dozen inkjets from them and none of them worked. They clogged the print head on my printer so bad and I had to get a new printer.

A starter cartridge only yields around 700 pages. I highly doubt it would be cheaper to buy a completely new entry level laser printer instead of a cartridge. It costs me about $2 dollars to refill my toner cartridges, $12-15 for one generic toner cartridge, $35-$60 for a high yield OEM cartridge. :shake::shake:

I highly doubt you know how to read. The DRUM is what costs a lot as I said not the toner cartridge. It's cheaper to buy a new printer than replace the DRUM. The second thing is you can't buy a starter cartridge those are for one time use and nobody sells starter cartridges. Don't criticize if you don't know what you're talking about please.

I was thinking about Staples too but decided against it. If you have a coupon already that's great, but searching ebay codes go for about $9 buy it now. That plus tax and no free toner (meaning you'll have to buy a new one after the starter runs out so factor that into additional cost) pushed me to go with the newegg deal. I would be paying $91 after taxes and buying a coupon.

I'll take the $78 with toner instead.

You never used a printer before? The printer will automatically come with a starter cartridge. How do you not know that? A brand new cartridge is not a starter cartridge, which was my obvious point. Secondly, a drums life expectancy is pretty high. It makes no sense at all to buy a completely new printer because of these two issues.

Good day.

Good day.

You guys are agreeing on the same points (as well as making valid different ones) and both correct, so no need to argue or insult.

Yes, it'd be more cost effective to replace the printer than to buy a new drum if it goes bad (what hy_tek was saying). Yes, drums maintain themselves for a long time, and replacing the starter pack after it is used up with a new, generic pack is cheap (what ilovegreatdeals was saying). Now carry on and talk about how good this deal is :)

babuofusa 02-19-2013 02:42 PM

bought this printer for $39.99 when best buy had $50 off $100 Q a couple of weeks ago. Price matched with Staples at $100, -$50 off for coupon, - $10 for initially not accepting my coupon in the morning.

The printer is fine and clean...print quality is not that awesome. Printed a page (with graphics) at work with HP Laser Jet Pro and same page with Brother HL 2270DW.....HP won...

enklined 02-19-2013 02:56 PM

Timely. My HP Photosmart 4280 just shit the bed when I needed it most (color cartridge went bad, although brand new, or the sensor in the cartridge bay - either way, you can't even print black when the color cartridge is out/missing/not working). Nothing worse than not being able to print when you are in a time crunch! Was very frustrating.

I'll keep the 4280 for scanning, and pick up this bad boy for printing school papers/work stuffs. In for one!

Friend of Sonic 02-19-2013 03:48 PM

Ooh, just read some of the comments about the Rosewill toner. Hoping I'm not screwed-- if I'm getting crappy toner, probably would have rather went with Amazon and paying in a GC instead of cash. Ah well.

Cuemaster 02-19-2013 04:13 PM

Will not work with windows 8.

yup i just tried to input the code

trimethaphan 02-19-2013 04:42 PM

Coupon code still works. I just tried it myself even though I have already ordered it earlier today with the same combo. I just wanted to verify if it worked or not. This is at 6:43 P.M CST

mgamer20o0 02-19-2013 04:43 PM

must hate me. put it in several times no go.

trimethaphan 02-19-2013 04:47 PM

That's weird. What error does it give you?

thran 02-19-2013 04:48 PM

I am on chat and they said it works and the code is live but the code doesnt work for me .... hm...

mgamer20o0 02-19-2013 04:52 PM

i think what they did was fix it. it wasnt until 5 of them were added before it showed up. the others seem to be able to add the printer then and 1 toner and get the discount. its not working that way for me.

uimagine 02-19-2013 04:56 PM

I can't seem to get the code to work:

There is an issue with promo code NEKAEEF9453. Please check promo code again or contact customer service.

Its interesting if you use the code without the printer and add 5 of them it works, but if its just 1 and the printer it doesnt work.... wtf

I don't think they fixed it, it wasn't working for me as of this afternoon.

I have to have $100 worth of toner before the coupon kicks in. What I noticed is the toner and printer are separated into two shipping options as soon as I put in my zip code and that's when the coupon breaks. Before I put in my zip and the items are still together the coupon works. I think it sees it as 2 orders, probably shipping from different warehouses. I really don't know, just guessing at this point. I just know it hasn't worked for me from the start.

brandonhelmin 02-19-2013 05:08 PM

nice. like it

burticus 02-19-2013 05:11 PM

Almost did it... have been eyeballing this printer for a couple months. But I know the wife will not approve until the current printer goes kaput.

Why isn't color laser affordable and decent quality yet? It is 2013 for cryin' out loud. The color lasers seem no better than what was available 10 years ago.

77KJ77 02-19-2013 05:20 PM

Code work initially but does not work during checking out.

thran 02-19-2013 05:22 PM

Just got off the phone and they honored the promotion code but they will reimburse me the difference, once i finished the order, the order itself was split into 2 different orders, hence the total was never 100

For those looking for cheap toner, I would suggest inkowl.com

I am in no way affiliated with them nor do I get any money for this, so just wanted to throw that out there. I use them to fill up one of my samsung laserjet toners. The instructions are flawless, the ink works great and they were pretty cheap. I paid 16 bucks for the refill, but I think shipping was like 2 bucks. There were coupons floating around for that website, so just look around on google. The only thing is that your old cartridge has to be in working condition (ie no streaks). This is usually the case if you are buying a new laserjet anyways, I spoke to a few employees and the cartidges that come with the printers are usually 1/4 full of normal, so you get 25% yield. But the cartidges themsevles are in perfect condition, it's just how much toner they throw in there.

They took a day or 2 to process it, but the order arrived 2 days after they said it was processed and shipped.

One final thing, if you end up refilling your cartridge, make sure you DONT SCRATCH THE DRUM while you are fiddling around with it. I put a tiny little nick into mine on the very edge luckily and now I have a little spec on the very edge of my pages... haha.

Hope this helps someone.

i had a friend that was having issues with installing in with windows 8. AFAIK, it worked fine with the usb but wireless would not work. I am not sure if they resolved this issue as it was a few months ago. I will follow up with the outcome.

looks like there is win8 drivers.

maybe someone that has tried it already can chime in

Good printer, but the 2280 for $99 is a much, much better printer with a color scanner and duplex. Staples and Office Max has it for $99 this week.

Jane_says 02-19-2013 06:04 PM

I have an HP Envy w/ Windows 8 and I cannot get this printer to connect. Good deal from Best Buy at $65 a few weeks ago, but now it's just an eye-sore. Any help appreciated. I may just sell on CL.

Scored the 2270DW from Staples, PM with amazon, $25 off $75. Wish I would have seen the 2280DW first though. Might grab it if it's still available in the AM. Thanks OP! My school uses this printer and it works damn fine IMHO.

Anyone have a extra staples coupon?

Cutaoden 02-19-2013 06:56 PM

The reason HL-2280DW is not on front-page because slickdeals is not affilated with staples. But they do with amazon.com. HL-2280DW is way better than this 2270DW. Slickdeals forum is more into profit themself instead sharing the best deals from subscriber

You got me thinking, I cancelled my 2270DW. Seems like scanner and copier is worth the extra $30?

Anyone got a spare $25 off coupon?

TheFrequency 02-19-2013 07:36 PM

I thought about cancelling my 2270DW, but I have an Canon inkjet with a nice copier/scanner on it. I only scan in photos and documents, and never use the straight up copy feature. I am happy with my 2270DW purchase and will keep it.

Comparing apples to oranges. This is a $80 printer at best and your comparing to a printer, depending on the model, starts at $200. This has been good enough for my home use. And if I ever need a ultra high quality print, guess what I do.....print at work! But since all I do is print invoices and/or rebate forms, most likely no thanks to SD, this is all I need and I'll never have to worry about buying liquid black gold for printing again!

might be true but between the 2 i would rather have this one. it looks a little smaller i already have a scanner fax that also prints in color.

Another impulse buy that I don't regret for the same reason. Thanks, OP.

troubador2000 02-19-2013 09:47 PM

Just scored the 2280DW for 74.99 not including tax from staples using the 25 off 75 coupon. Plus used Shop Discover for another 5% off...for a final cost of 71.25. Check it out.

Friend of Sonic 02-19-2013 09:59 PM

Now I'm wondering if I should eBay a Staples coupon and go for the 2280. Would have to refuse the Newegg shipment, and I honestly wonder how much scanning I would do. Smaller footprint might be nicer...

If you don't already have a scanner, it'd be worth it. You never know when you might start scanning in all your purchase receipts and tax forms.. :D

The ShopDiscover cashback for Staples does not cover printers.

according to the link, the lower end printer such as 2280dw only work with Cortado Workplace.

But the higher model such as HL5450DN will work with AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Brother iPrint & Scan, Cortado Workplace. But the 5450DN is not wireless.

Yeah, I got cold feet and tried to cancel my printer literally a minute later but it already entered the shipping phase. It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Good grief.

RichardWad 02-20-2013 05:16 PM

I've owned this printer for a bit over a year now. Love it to death. If it got stolen and I had to buy a new printer, I'd get this one again. If you're even thinking about it, get it— you won't be sorry. It's just a solid, well-manufactured product at an incredible price (even when it's not on a great sale like this). There are not many things out there that I'll vouch for like I will this thing— not these days...

Definitely loud when it starts up. Super compact though.

.

The 2270DW like many other printers doesn't have AirPrint or Google Cloud Print support out of the box, however you can use many of the available methods of get AirPrint and CloudPrint working on this printer. Personally, I used a PogoPlug with ArchLinux ARM.

victor4461 03-12-2013 05:11 PM

Heads UP!!!

I am here to confirm that if you have a Android Phone the
Brother iPrint & Scan works great with the Brother HL-2270DW Laser Printer. Even thou the Brother HL-2270DW Printer does not have a Scan option this App works great. i was able to print documents off my phone with no problems
You can find the Brother iPrint & Scan Here [google.com]
