Denon AVR-1712 7.1 Receiver - Refurbished $239.99 [FS]
2 Attachment(s)
Denon.com has the AVR-1712 Refurbished on sale for $191.99 w/ Free Shipping after 20% promo code "DENON20":
http://usa.denon.com/us/product/p...A)&IsRef=1 This is an excellent 7.1 home theater receiver, with the advanced Audessy MultEQ XT sound calibration. It is difficult to even find used units at this price. Better hurry, because these sell out really quick. The next lowest price on a refurbished unit is over $300 on Accessories4Less. Thanks TinhMaiMongCho for pointing out the 20% off promo code. |
Thanks, personally I think the Onkyo refurb deal is a little stronger. You can pick up the Onkyo 616 for $253 with F/S and it is the competitive unit to the 1913.
www.shoponkyo.c Both units come with a 1 year factory warranty. |

Bought for $191.99. Thanks!

sold out |
I'm kind of glad this went OOS. My wife would have killed me if I bought a receiver I have absolutely no need for. This was a truly fantastic deal for a receiver with Audyssey MultiEQ XT...I'm guessing among the cheapest ever.
|
I'm always missing out on the receiver deals...damnit
|
get the 1613 for $200 if 5.1 is enough.
|
where is that deal....

Almost bought .. but no ethernet :(
|
well, just found this one for $199.99: http://usa.denon.com/us/product/p...a)&isref=1
It has ethernet and is also a current year model. |
Hmmm 343 for the 1913... Tempting... Is this a good enough deal to pull the trigger??
|
Don't believe 1613 has MultEQ XT
|
Right, the 1713 is the only current model under the 2113 that has MultEQ XT. Similarly, the 1712 is the only model under the 2112 with MultEQ XT from last year's models.

Unless you are an audiophile, the difference in sound between a receiver with or without the XT will likely not be discernible.
|
The 1913 is lacking the MultEQ XT as well. The next model up from the 1713 with XT is the 2113.
|
Dang it, wanted to pick it up too!

What is very nice about the 1712 is that it has both MultiEQ XT AND 7.1. The 1713 dropped down to 5.1, so to get both features without paying much more for the 211X, the 1712 (or maybe older years?) is the only option.
|
Well at least the 20% off helps! It makes the 1913 much more tempting and the lowest price I could find.
If I was an Apple fan I might lean towards the Denon (Airplay), but I'm not going to cancel the Onkyo 616 at almost $100 less. |
1613 for $200 vs the yamaha 573 that was at frys for $288? 5.1 and 7.1 is the obvious difference any other huge ones?
|
For anybody thinking Onkyo - I've currently got one and it has severe handshake HDMI issues and also has issues with BluRay, the data transfer is often too much for the receiver and causes the audio to drop every few minutes.
Onkyo's quality has continued to go downhill - while Denon receivers tend to be very highly regarded in the AVS community. |
Just pulled the trigger on the 1913...good find!

I've been focused on Yamaha but these Denon refurbs, as long as they hold up better than Onkyo refurbs, look good. |
I just picked up the 1613. Time to upgrade my old Sony HTIB system. These seem like great receivers. Could anyone recommend a good speaker setup to use with this ?

I will admit that I haven't necessarily heard a system where the subwoofer was equalized, but hearing systems where the other speakers are and the subwoofer is not, I could easily see how the subwoofer being equalized would make a big difference. |

OOS again.

Hey guys...can anyone help me choose between the 1913 and AVR2312CI. My locan Best Buy has an open box AVR2312CI for $351. So it's essentially the same price but just want to know which one is better in terms of quality and features. TIA
|
I just picked up the 1613.
I bought the 1713 from Best Buy as an open box but couldn't tell the difference in sound between my old 590 with MultiEQ and the 1713s MultiEQ XT so I returned it. I did miss the AirPlay and on screen display through HDMI options, so I am happy I got in on this deal. |
between Onkyo TX-NR609 and this 1712, is one clearly a better pick than the other?
|
That's what ive heard...Onkyo's newer receivers supposedly have bad HDMI handshake/sync issues
|
Between a $160 Yamaha 522k and the Denon 1712 for $200, I'm assuming the Denon wins out?

You can compare features by going to the Denon website and looking at each model. |
Has anyone gotten their orders processed? I've only gotten the order confirmation so far.

I got a call from Denon saying that they may be out of stock on the AVR-1712's and asked me if I would accept the AVR-1912 in it's place for the same price.
What would you guys do? |

Is the 1912 as reliable as the 1712? More features=more potential problems. I read more negative user reviews on amazon for the 1912. Considering these are refurbished units I'm concerned about reliability past the 1 year warranty. from avsforum.com: Stepping up from the 1712 to the 1912 adds: * Networking, including: --- ethernet firmware updates --- Airplay --- Pandora, Rhapsody, Internet Radio, etc. --- The ability to control your receiver over the network (using a browser or an iPod, iPhone, Android phone, etc) * Front panel USB port for connected iPod, iPhone, etc. * Video conversion of analog video inputs into HDMI output, so you can send all video to the TV with one HDMI cable * However, you LOSE both the XT version of MultEQ and a component video input and output |

Picked up the 1613 for $199. My best buy sold it to me for $249.99 open box which I gonna return.
|
I have the 1712, got it new for $199.99 from Best Buy several months back. It's okay, but really lacks a lot of features. No USB, no portable in, no air play, no networking and I hate that if you use one of the quick select buttons it erases your set speaker levels and audio settings. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't have bought it, even at sub $200 brand new.

All the features you listed are "premium" - and you bought a base model....hate to say it but you should have done your research. If all you wanted was a great sounding amp without the frills - you got the right one. |
Quote:
And BTW, the AVR-1712 isn't a "base model." |
Even my Denon AVR-391, which is a base model receiver, has portable-in.

While using the 1712 did you find the "XT" version of audyssey improves the sound quality significantly over non "XT" audyssey? Just trying to make sense of contradictory user reviews regarding the premium "XT". Perhaps I'm placing a disproportionate value on that feature. I have a 5.1 set-up with Mirage OMD5s L&R & matched C1 center & quality sub & side surrounds. TIA for any reply. |
same here, after I tried a receiver with ethernet and phone remote apps, I decided I'd never buy one without.

Ended up going for the 1613 REFURB for $199 shipped. Figured I'd take a chance on the condition/reliability of the factory refurbished unit for that price. It has all of the features that I'd like, mainly network and apps for controlling the receiver and its functions. Crossing fingers but fairly confident. Thanks for the heads-up SD again.
|
Do all of these have hdmi pass through/bypass? I was looking at the pioneers and some have it and some dont which is fustrating
