Newegg secret coupon 50% off select PC games - $5 each

5 Attachment(s)
Newegg has a couple of PC games on sale for $10. If you got an email about "secret coupons", you can take an additional 50% off making the games $5 each. Unfortunately, the coupon code doesn't work for all accounts so ymmv. But if you have it, there are some decent deals to be had.

The subject of the email with the coupon codes was "Shhh…Take These Secret Coupons Up to 50% OFF. We Saved the Best for Our BEST Customers!" I got it around yesterday late afternoon. Helped myself to Front Mission and The Darkness II.

okinawanmatt 02-19-2013 07:24 PM

WHOA. Reps to you OP! Your coupon code actually worked! I unsubscribed from all NewEgg e-mails a while ago. So I never receive the coupon codes anymore in my inbox, but I know they still assign coupons to my account. Your coupon code worked for me!

I bought LA Noire Complete Edition for $5 (free shipping). The last Steam sale had it for $8, the last Amazon sale was for $10, and the last Target sale was for $19.99. So this is the cheapest price for the game.

stephenson121588 02-19-2013 07:27 PM

The code is the same in all emails they will work for everyone.

Is LA Noire any good?

I enjoyed it - if you're into detective work (and actual thinking in a game), then go for it. It's not a shoot'em up GTA. $5, try it.

I was really into Tex Murphy back in the 90's. I loved the hell out of that game series. Is this somewhat similar?

TrustTheShark 02-19-2013 08:04 PM

I think this might be YMMV. I just tried to check out with L.A. Noire, and it is saying "Your email address is not valid for redemption of promo code BTEXVWM29."

Vamatt99218 02-19-2013 08:07 PM

I didn't get the email oh well. Not a big loss since i have most of those games.

Slomo4shO 02-19-2013 08:14 PM

These games are already on amazon for $3.50-$7 on amazon...

Thank you for answering.. I am having a flashback the old days of Sierra's Police Quest.

I'm not sure about the other ones, but the L.A. Noire Complete Edition is double Newegg's regular price. So, for $5 that title seems like a steal.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure how they were making it selective. Guess it just depends on what kind of account you have/bought a certain amount of things in the past?

baphomet58 02-19-2013 09:02 PM

bunch of crap games with the exception of LA noire.

I don't think so. I picked it up from Steam's holiday sale for $5 and wish I had passed. I am not opposed to "thinking" but I thought this game was a bore fest.

Also, Deus Ex can be had on Steam right now for $4.99. Also I did enjoy Space Marine, seems like I'm the only one.

Vegas is a good buy if you're into "thinking" games. Much better recommendation than LA Noire.

Just my 3 cents..

It's pretty fun, but the PC port is pretty poor. Make sure your PC is pretty over-specced, otherwise you'll be stuck playing on low resolution/setting, and even then it might have a crappy framerate

shawne0 02-19-2013 10:04 PM

not buyin any... but great deal for anyone who wants some quality games

figureskater546 02-19-2013 10:08 PM

I personally love "The Run" and all Civ games.
I still play both games once every couple of weeks.
Anyone that cares, I have played all these games but L.A. Noire and Space Marine on the Surface Pro. They all play at around medium settings. With only 4GB of ram on the Surface, Civ 4 will crash late in the game if you do the largest map size and have a lot of units(my page file is 4GB, a larger page file may fix this).
You can also play these off the Samsung Microsd card, 60-70MB/s read - pretty fast. Save the space on your SSD. From what I can tell you need a micro sd card with at least 30MB/s read speed to play most games.

Great price drop. Thanks for sharing this deal.

Necron 02-19-2013 10:35 PM

I absolutely Loved the original Syndicate game I played back in '94. I might take a chance on that one, but my understanding is, it's just not the same game.
Anyone else have experience with this one?
Thanks for posting OP! Repped!

722 02-19-2013 10:41 PM

Picked up Syndicate, looks fun for $5.

finalcut 02-19-2013 10:47 PM

Are these for the physical copies or do they activate on Steam? Anyone know?

lzmarth 02-19-2013 10:50 PM

They are physical copies. No steam.

Some of them require Steam, even if you buy the physical copy

Homefront, Warhammer Space Marine are two of them on the list. Dragon Age 2 I bet you can register on Origin and it will activate no problem

Chimay 02-20-2013 04:20 AM

Anyone who hasn't should check out Deus Ex. It's single-player only but a really great title. Picked it up during a Steam sale (~$5) and was disappointed when it ended. One of my favorite games in a long time and definitely worth the price

jonac13 02-20-2013 05:35 AM

F.E.A.R. 3 - $10($5 with coupon)
Front Mission Evolved - $10($5 with coupon)

Fallout New Vegas - $10($5 with coupon)
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine - $10($5 with coupon)

Origin
Dragon Age 2 - $10($5 with coupon)
Need for Speed the Run - $10($5 with coupon)
Syndicate - $10($5 with coupon)

Neither
Hunted: Demon's Forge - $10($5 with coupon)
Lego Harry Potter: Years 1 - 4 - $10($5 with coupon)
Lego Batman - $10($5 with coupon)
L.A. Noire Complete Edition - $10($5 with coupon)

I am confused on what you dont understand. If you are already spending why do you need a code. The code is intended for people who are not spending LOL !

Jimi_Shuffler 02-20-2013 05:51 AM

thanks picked up the run and syndicate. if they are good then yay of not then oh well, doesnt hurt for $10

I never played Tex Murphy - but from what I've read, it's similar. LA Noire has a get overall plot (in addition to each case). You also see a lot of the old LA, with 100+ classic cars too

Probably for people who have a history of buying games on newegg. There is truth to them not needing to give discounts to people who would otherwise purchase items without the discount. Those comeback emails usually only show up on accounts which weren't used to make purchases for months...
