steppedinit 02-21-2013 03:34 PM

Special pencil not guaranteed! FORGET IT!!!!

wngmv 02-21-2013 03:35 PM

Great deal. Grab an assault rifle with it and you are set for doomsday.

sjsfan 02-21-2013 03:36 PM

I remember wearing and running in this mask back in Russia about 25 years ago. That was a lot of fun. BTW you can play game "Slonik" (only with mask that has a hose attached). Remove the filter from the end and close the hose hole with your palm and see how long the person wearing mask can survive :) Russian army trick!

BTW here is that hose - http://www.amazon.com/Russian-Stu...d_sim_sg_1

majorhavoc 02-21-2013 03:41 PM

Yeah, the lack of a guaranteed special pencil just kills this deal for me.

But remember to hold it with your arms stretched out in front of you when the nuc hits, such that when the rifle melts, it won't drip on your shoes!

Yup. 20 km marches in full chemical gear were a drag.

Will this protect against my wife's chili farts?

kbenson 02-21-2013 05:03 PM

Need to add a poncho, wet weather pants and rubber boots. Will help with the fallout from the nutcase in NK.

edit- Seems like there is no way to drink while wearing the mask. I remember the good old army days in which we practiced wearing a NBC suit + mask and really funky lace up boots.
The mask did have a drinking tube which allowed the wearer to drink from a canteen.

I also remember what the NBC NCO told us what to do in the even we threw up in the mask......yuck

I'm going to make my wife wear this when she's pregnant. Don't want jr getting any defects.

superchargerfan 02-21-2013 05:18 PM

too flippin' cool.

thnx OP, Extra-Large for me and my big head (plus I read they're sized small)

ilbknownas1 02-21-2013 05:44 PM

that thing is for air particles, like if you were working in a saw mill, lmao. It won't work for gases. I've got an M50 that I'm quite positive I'll never use.

Esfandiar 02-21-2013 05:44 PM

Now guys seriously, what the heck is the special pencile?Where can I get the sharpner and eraser?

Buster_Bluth 02-21-2013 05:48 PM

Civilian model? Is this thing effective or is it like a duck and cover kind of solution.

radfan65 02-21-2013 05:57 PM

Obviously doesn't provide protection from falling meteors though.

Stirlitz 02-21-2013 06:03 PM

In Obama's America, gas masks wear you!

cheapsense007 02-21-2013 06:04 PM

bringing this to my next riot!

euwil 02-21-2013 06:04 PM

If you're paranoid enough to want one of these, get a new one. Materials age and no longer perform to original specs - it may prevent an air tight seal. Not to mention there are new rules and new research about the compounds used to filter the dangerous substances that you are presumably fearful about.

There's a reason gas masks are retired after a certain amount of years.

But in all seriousness, if you think that you need a gas mask you are probably nuts.

edit: Never mind, apparently these are used for gags. :)

Prosercunus 02-21-2013 06:06 PM

I am in for one for Halloween or just for scaring my nieces and nephews.

I got an XL since my head is maybe slightly above normal size and I have no idea how large or small these run.

Donald05 02-21-2013 06:11 PM

please do not trust your life with this. The Russian mask will not protect you against many of the newer types of chemicals. Please purchase it for a novelty item

therealmckay 02-21-2013 06:12 PM

Worth it for the cloth shoulder bag alone.

Good old days? Those days sucked! I hated chem gear. Unless you have a voice box, masks suck, especially for comm guys talking over orderwire. You use up all your energy trying to yell through the mask. You need the right canteen to use the drinking tube also.
If I knew government officials wouldn't survive an attack like that, I may spend the time to get a mask, otherwise I'd rather go down with every other real American.

TROGDOR!! 02-21-2013 06:16 PM

No warranty kills this deal for me. "MOC does not offer any warranty or guarantee to the effectiveness of all gas masks/filters sold due to the age of the product."

If I can't call and demand a refund after I've died in the nuclear holocaust due to a faulty gas mask, I'm not buying one.

haha! yeah - Almost forgot how great it was to communicate with the mask on;)

BTW the masks we used had 2 filters, which were a real bear to remove. Had to take mask off, remove rubber covers (inside) w/o loosing tiny locking buttons, remove the horn shaped filters and then struggle to get replacements installed.

I think they finally replaced those with external screw on filters.

rilaw 02-21-2013 07:40 PM

I actually bought a few of these when I saw them advertized at a local discount store (Building #19), same masks with sack and filter. They were $2.99... I said screw it and grabbed four, no idea why. They are kinda cool, only down fall is your head smells like rubber REAL bad after you take it off. They do work AWESOME if you work with a partner who has a high protein intake, I threw one on after his forth ground turkey and broccoli meal of the day and third protein shake....I could not smell ANYTHING, but I did look like a tool (X10) ;)

Not sure if these are rated for fires, rubber might melt to your face.
But they are good in times of airborne contaminants.
