Bing Rewards. [bing.com]Once you've signed up you earn a point for every 2 searches (up to 15 a day) and once youve earned 500 you can redeem them for 400 msp. Its a pretty good deal.

If the sale prices are good until March 4th, I might hold off buying until I see the new Xbox Live Rewards [xbox.com] offer for March. There might be another spend a certain of points get free points offer. They could be daily deals though. We'll see I guess. Oh...it looks like they are daily deals.

It's pretty easy if you get a few accounts. I probably got $180 from it in Amazon gift cards last year.


Halo 4 at 75% off sounds like a deal. The rest sound like duds.

You get 16 points a day from searches. Then usually 25 to 75 points a month extra from promos. The you get extra for referrals. Do this in multiple accounts and you can cash in big. I do amazon gift cards and msp's.

We signed up for Bing Rewards (http://www.bing.com/explore/rewards) and either manually, or through an automated program (http://www.pogocheats.net/bing-rewards-bot) do a bunch of searches every day.

Your household is limited to 5 accounts, so have everybody sign up. At worst, you get 16 credits a day, and some accounts you can do 90 searches for 30 points, and some can even make 45 points a day. Then you can do some random promotions for a few points here and there. Then just hold off on those points until you reach the gold level, where those points are redeemable for 400 Microsoft Points (MSP) or even $5 Amazon Giftcards for 475 points.

Running 5 accounts will pay off, especially if you devote a few minutes every morning to it. I do it when I get in and sipping my coffee checking the night's e-mail, and $30 so far in Amazon for those cheap PC gaming deals makes it worth the minimal time investment.

I'm sure it's nice, but I don't generally give any sort of personal/money information out when doing stuff that is in a grey legal area. If MS shuts these accounts down, I don't want to be out $10. Plus, some dude in Russia doesn't need my CC info.

I'm running 5 accounts all from different browsers and Oracle VirtualBox/VMWare ESX images, and there's a forum where I saw some people running as many as 13 accounts. There isn't anything in the way of address verification that I'm aware of, so as long as you run some sort of proxy to mask your IP address so they don't see all 13 coming from the same physical IP address, you should be fine.

I would be surprised if any of the newer titles go past 35% off ...And Remember that's off the Retail of $59.99. Not the $39.99 it is in most stores now.

I thought about getting the software, but it doesn't get the extra points they typically have for random bonuses points. So I'd have to go to the website anyway to pick up those extra points. The website bot works just fine and it's free.

Make sure you always check http://www.bing.com/rewards/dashboard for extra points. Sometimes they give out 50 points for signing into Facebook. Usually only 1 or 2 extra bonus points though.

The rewards are external, for instance, when you get the Amazon cards, it just e-mails you a serial code. Copy and paste that to your Amazon account, and you're $5 richer. Amazon doesn't do any sort of validation as to who it was issued to, and I don't believe Microsoft does any either, since they're just giving you a code.

Sign up some hotmail, outlook, and live e-mail accounts, and just register them on separate browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE, Maxthon, Opera, Safari, etc) and on the other browsers you don't use, make that rewards bot your homepage. Open up the browser, click the button, minimize, and check up on them like 15 minutes later.

Make it a habit to do it in the morning or whatnot, and it'll eventually start to add up nicely, free money for the taking!

Im a bit rushed, but...

I think the atmosphere of Fallout 3 is much better, and I loved the focus exploration. I greatly disliked Vegas at first. Didnt have as much of a radiated, lonely, wasteland feeling I was used to. Or the randomness. It was brown. I put a lot of time in New Vegas, but always put Fallout 3 way above it.

I took a break for a couple of years, and just picked up Vegas again last month. Ive put 80 more hours into a new game, after spending 100 hours previously. I bet I will put 40 more hours in before Im done. The story and factions are a great improvement. I think it is a GREAT game, and Im look forward to all Fallout games from either Beth or Obsidian.

tldr: Buy It, and dont be put off if youre coming straight from Fallout 3.

Not excited for this sale, never saw ANY good deals on xbox when it comes to games on demand. The disc based version is always a cheaper buy, except nba2k13 I was impressed with the $29.99 price they had it at last week, but the disc based version has been on sale for that price before.

No point in buying it digitally when you can get it for either cheaper or for the same price. I think games on demand are great for people in foreign countries where the games retail for $100

I would love if someone would post prices (perhaps on major nelson's blog comments) from the cheapest retailer for the specific game(s) on sale that day to show how you can probably find every one of these games cheaper somewhere else. I realize you are buying the game for the higher price for the convenience of not having to put in the disc but still the prices will probably be ridiculous.

Since none of us here work for the XBox Marketing/Deals team who make/schedule these deals, we don't know any more than you do.

P.S. For what it's worth I would recommend buying Trials Evolution at full price as it is absolutely worth the $15 price tag. Especially if you can a discount/free on Microsoft points through ways some people mention in this thread.

Exactly. I've also got a few running on virtual machines using a proxy/vpn, and seem to be working just fine. Should they check, they'll see different IP's on the signup and usage, and the browsers may be enough to convince them that they're separate users.

Nobody knows any prices yet, but there are already 3 pages of posts. This sale could range anywhere from totally awesome if the discounts are good to total garbage if the discounts are bad. As someone who has serious trouble paying more than the equivalent of $10 for most games (with a few exceptions), the chance of most of these games being 1000 points or less is small. Also, if these prices are set by Microsoft, who graces us with crappy Deals of the Weak most of the time with either the same old same old stuff or not very good prices, chances are this will be a crappy sale. If the prices are set by the publisher, then there's a chance it could be OK. I hope for a good sale as I have a load of Xbox Live points from BF, but I won't hold my breath.

So I've made a note to check back on the 26th. Until then, unless the prices leak, everything said here is just useless speculation.

Not always true, Left 4 Dead 2 was on sale a month ago as DD for 19.99. You find it that cheap let me know. I have a feeling it will be that cheap is not cheaper. I for 1 will be buying it again.

Digital versions of course have the lazy factor of not putting a disc in, but the real advantage is in sharing marketplace content with a friend. In order to accommodate families with multiple consoles, the first box you download to/purchase from* actually gets the content registered across every gamertag on that box. And of course the gamertag it was purchased with can download again on any other box, but only that gamertag would get whatever it is**. Now it would be fraud and against ToS to exploit this with just anyone, but the only ones banned have been hackers that tweaked it to share over and over again.

However, it is working as intended that any console you play on with other people will have the content you purchase on it available to the people you play with and around (sounds funny, but I regularly play single player games in a group). I don't see anything against visiting my brother for xmas, playing some games with him, and being able to continue those games online after I got home. I also think it justifies the inordinately high prices on most marketplace content.

*If you purchase thru live.xbox.com you just need to download it first on the community box. If you purchase thru the console it registers to that console when you purchase, so make sure you're on the right one.
**Online passes, Games on Demand, DLC, avatar junk, season passes to DLC, arcade games - all better with friends. Haven't tried myself or googled about xbox video and music and whatall, but I bet that'd share too.

Fixed my post. I knew that seemed low. I just used some Microsoft Points coverter on the web. Guess it was wrong.

Anyway, the prices are still wrong to buy right now with points.

I already picked up Dirt 2 and Grid which came out to 440 MS points each. I thought the extra 40 MS points was for tax because on the first page that comes up it says $4.99 plus tax if you want to pay by credit card.

El Shaddai is still showing up as 480 MS Points also even though it is listed as $2.99. I think that is the only other game I am going to pick up so I will just wait until they update the price. Might have to email MS customer service if the $4.99 were only supposed to be 400 MS Points. 80 Points is 80 Points. They should really do away with this whole point system and change to a steam wallet kind of thing or prepaid cards you can buy. Shit is confusing.

You can also purchase them with a credit card, that is why they are listing the prices in $'s.

However...I would stick to MS points... Since you are a mom, that means the account is going to most likely be used by a kid. If you tie your CC to the account and then the kid goes on a buying spree or gives the info out, you are SOL.

Go just buy an MS point card at the gas station or Giant Eagle and save yourself the possible headache.

You can buy them with credit card, or if your son/daughter has Microsoft Points on his account, he can select to pay with microsoft points.

Was that part a question or a statement? I'll answer you anyway...Yes, you can buy them at Walmart. Just make sure you get the one that will say 1600 pts (for $20) and not the one that says something about 3 Months (for $25) as the LIVE time and points are two different balances.

I am curious what you all think will happen to these GOD games after the new Xbox comes out? Will Microsoft continue to support the older games, or will they all go offline in favor of the games that work for the new Xbox? I would hate to spend money on games that will be gone in less than 10 months (assuming the new Xbox comes out for Christmas).

Microsoft does have a track record to support old games. They went out the way to write an Xbox emulator to enable Xbox 360 to run Xbox games so I'm not too worried about that.

They are on sale until march 4th. I am contemplating GRID since I had the disc but sold it. I bought Burnout Paradise a few years ago for $20 and love it but never had time to even play halfway through it. The single reason I would buy GRID is for the demolition derby! :D

Thanks for the update. Just wanted to also point out...two of those games were NOT listed on the initial list that was posted (only 1 and 2 were mentioned). So, looks like there might be a couple games added here and there.

They were all on the original list [majornelson.com], just not under 'Assasin's Creed.' They were listed as

The original post by majornelson did indicate that there would be other games that weren't in the list though.

So....Code Veronica, eh? Never really heard much about that one. I'm trying to decide between the highly praised single player in 4, or the solid co-op but overall "meh" of 5. Anyone care to chime in? I haven't played a RE since they first came out and I hated the aiming and inventory, but I think that all got sorted out when they re-released on gamecube...

RE4 is a pretty solid game and I haven't played it since it was originally released on the GC, so I'm in for that. Most reviews say the game is still just as fun to play, but the "HD" isn't what you expect... kinda shoddy upscaling of the old graphics.

Then you keep your xbox, plain and simple.

Whether that will apply to game downloads, idk. I would err on the side of caution and ask yourself if 5 years maybe less, maybe more is ok.

I already have RE 4 and Code Veronica for the PS2 (never got around to playing them), and I have a PS3 fat with backwards compatibility. Given that is there any reason I'd want to spend 800/400 points to get the Xbox 360 upscaled versions? The reviews I read made it sound like the answer is no. I guess Code Veronica has a few extra scenes or something.

Even if I bought them again, chances are small of me getting around to playing them any time soon with a triple digit backlog of games and little time. I prefer to get stuff I don't already have in any format.

I had Code Veronica for Dreamcast, and it was very good. Keep in mind though, the controls are more like the tank controls/view of the first three games, rather than the 3rd person sholder view and more fluid controls of 4/5/6.

If you can deal with that, it's definitely worth a buy. I'll probably pick it up to replay.

This isn't a totally accurate statement if Microsoft goes the same route as Sony. For PS4, Sony is using a completely different architecture and chipset than in PS3, and have already gone on record saying that PS4 will not be backwards compatible for either disc based or digital. To even make games BC, they would have to do on board emulation, which they have so far shown no interest in doing.

That said, I wouldn't buy these games assuming that they will be playable on 720 (although there is certainly still a chance that they will be).

To do that with a different game that was incorrectly free in Singapore...I had to go and create a new Gamertag that was based in Singapore. Not worth going through all that to save 200 pts.

You have to have a Canadian account. It's free to create one. You can use the Microsoft Points from Bing Rewards. They work in all countries. Download it using your Canadian account. Sign into your US account and play. :)

Software (games) is written for a specific piece of computer architecture (hardware). It usually takes some different code to make it work on different systems. Just like the PS3s these days aren't BC.

It also isn't a true statement if Microsoft starts to sell puppies instead of gaming consoles. (Since we are purely speculating).

Yeah, I get your point, but for MS to give gold members the ability to play all current XBLA games on the next console, the architecture would need to be compatible, of there would need to be a MS mandate that every publisher recodes their games to play on the new architecture as necessary.

I actually think that MS will have BC, so in that sense I agree with you. 360 was built somewhat similarly to the way a PC would be, and I'm sure the next one will be similar.

Yea you can always stream games like the PS4 will, but the question will be how well can you stream these games? We would all need Google Fiber to have high quality streaming of 360 games. That seems fairly fragile, but it will be better than nothing.

I wish I knew how well Halo 2 worked on the 360 (how well it works, I guess)...you can buy that Games on Demand style, pretty sure... Granted the servers are closed but that doesn't stop you from single player.

Onlive does this, doesn't need more than a 3 Mb connection I think. You would just need the super fast lines to get better pictures...but that wouldn't be your main priority if you were playing 5-6 year old games on a new elite console! :lol:

That is a very legitimate concern. However, I believe times have changed. There are way more digital contents and user install base on the 360 than the original Xbox. Shutting down the entire 360 online user base will have severe negative impact on MS. Yes, they will have to do it at some point when they notice the 360 online activities are flat but that won't come anytime soon, at least 5-10 years.

Probably not if you really aren't going to play MP. There is the Raam's Shadow DLC which gives you an added single player/co-op campaign, but I believe everything else is MP maps/skins/modes (Guardian!)... so if you really want more regular game content, just grab that DLC and ignore the rest of them.

That being said, if you don't get the season pass and try to play online, you will have a much smaller playlist to choose from and player hosted servers only.

Things go flat when MS doesn't make money off it anylonger. Once the new console debuts, game sales for Xbox 360 are going to go steadily downhill. Once they are low enough, there is no longer any interest form MS in supporting the Xbox 360 despite how active it may remain with past games. And the size of the Xbox 360 online endevour only makes maintaining it more costly.

And they have a conflict of interest in letting the Xbox 360 die in order to move you over to the Next Gen Xbox sooner where they can make more money again.

I played Halo 1 on Xbox 360 (not the anniversary edition) so I imagine Halo 2 is fine.

And just to add information to the discussion, I've purchased 3 Xbox Original games. Two of them were supported on the Xbox 360 but I needed an internet connection and a hard drive. Which tells me the Xbox originals are not supported out of the box on Xbox 360 and you had to download some kind of recompilation to make it run. And if there wasn't support around for it, it didn't happen.

Triple digit backlog? How many does it take until you realize, you're not buying games to play them. You're buying them just because...

Xbox live shutdown for 1st gen in 2010, 4 years after the Xbox 360 was introduced and after running for 9 years supporting that box. The 360 has been around about 6 years so I bet they keep supporting it for at least a couple years, but I wouldn't hold my breath for anything past 2016.

This is some folks' solution for the PS4 as well. I imagine not many people have room in their entertainment centers to keep both old and new consoles. I know I don't. If the suggestion is to store the old consoles, only bringing them out when need be, it will be a hassle to those who will still regularly play those older consoles. While this seems to be the only solution, it isn't exactly appeasing to many of us.
