Went last night had a horrible experience
|

I've never had a bad experience. Once we got our extras in a box to go, and forgot them on the table. Went back in about 5 minutes and they had thrown them out. They went ahead and made us both a brand new meal to go. I was amazed. Nothing but great service! ;) |
How does this place rank against a buca di beppo or macaroni grill?

Sorry, I've never been to either of those places, but I highly recommend Carrabba's. My friend from Sicily says it's his favourite Italian restaurant on this side of the pond. |
Microwaved Stouffers lasagna at a premium price. The one time I was there a few years ago they added a $15 tip AFTER I signed the credit card receipt. When I questioned the manager, he told me to prove it. It took a bunch of calls but for some reason soon thereafter he was removed.
That is the only restaurant I've ever been in where the waitress encourages one to drink vegetable oil. |

I did not hear back from customer service yet |

yeah i've only had great experiences and service in a couple carraba's in az. much better than olive garden or macaroni grill...
|
Looks like a lot of people here must think Olive Garden is premium Italian, based on all the Carrabba's haters. Sure bad experiences do happen at any restaurant, especially when busy, but I've never had a bad meal / experience, and love it there.
|
fantastic here in Houston...believe it started here though.
|
I actually just got back. It was wonderful as usual. Had the Chicken Bryan. Yum!
|
You are good to go at Toledo, we've never had complaints.

I haven't eaten at Buca enough to compare the two, but I remember Carrabba's being great. |
The reviews here prove "no one size fits all".
Our one time at Carrabba's was disappointing. Never went back because Buca and Macaroni's were consistently satisfying options. Perhaps we'll try it again. |
this is one of my favorite restaurants. service is always excellent in the duluth, ga location.
the pasta wheesy is delicious! |

Repped for the coupon though, can't beat a bogo. |
Steak is great. Love Carabbas. Thanks OP. Repped.
|
Perfect timing. Was already planning on going to the one in Hurst, TX (always good there the times I have been) Wednesday night for my BD and using a gift card my in-laws got me last year for Father's Day. Can't beat a gifted meal and BOGO. TY OP and TU.

Thanks OP!

Carrabbas is my favorite chain Italian. Thanks OP!
|
uhmmmmm... Sirloin Marsala, SO FREAKING GOOOODDD!!!!

It's a chain, just like the others. Therefore, your experience will vary depending on various factors such as how well it is managed, how busy they are, which short order cooks are on that night, etc. We eat at Carraba's when we're looking for a large amount of mediocre Italian food. By mediocre, I don't mean to say that it's bad, but it's nowhere near the quality of an upscale Italian restaurant; it's also nowhere near the price of one either. The last time we ate there, my pasta tasted like they literally opened a package of Buitoni and mixed in some jarred alfredo and vegetables (Pasta Carraba). My wife's canneloni was slightly warmer than room temp, and maybe one notch above Stouffers in taste and quality. The server was slow and somewhat rude. We generally expect slightly better food and service from Carraba's than that. This was our first visit to a new location nearby... hopefully they can get their act together. |
No question that Carrabba's is much better than Olive Garden. Thumbs up!

Surprised this hasn't made front page yet  |
Thanks! Love this place!

Got these in the mail about 2 days ago. Didn't think my first time there was great. I came back from Italy and was used to how they prepared all of their pasta and seafood... VERY dissapointing experience eating here. I ordered a $17 lobster raviolli and only got 7 peices filled with a a tiny bit of seafood... and the pasta is doused in sauce.
If you ever want authentic Italian food, make your own dishes with lots of seafood and very little sauce. Most of the flavor is from the seafood and cooked into the pasta. Only thing they add over the dish is a little bit of olive oil, but the meal tastes MUCH better. Might as well try this again though, just turned single, so $10 for both lunch and dinner works out for me! |

Starting with the "breadsticks" at Olive Garden, for example...please. No one in Italy eats breadsticks like that  |
This place is far and away better than Olive Garden or Macaroni grill. The locations I've been to in Indianapolis and Central and Southwest Florida have been superb and they will go out of their way to satisfy the customer. They don't serve french fries, but if your kid wants some, they'll go across the street and get some. Or, I've heard of them doing that before, anyway. Everything my family and I have had from Carrabbas has been great and there's no comparison between them and Olive Garden and there's a big gulf between them and Macaroni Grill, I think. If we're going to splurge on a restaurant, Carrabba's is our first choice. I'm sure this coupon will come in handy. Thanks OP.
edit: Also, the place does have "Grill" in the title, and I usually get something grilled as my main entree, so I can't speak much about the pastas and raviolis and whatnot (though I have had a few in small amounts and enjoyed them), but what I've had there has been really, really good. Since it's an Italian restaurant it should be sufficient at the pastas and stuff, and I think they are good, but I can't speak about the authenticity. If it's authenticity you're looking for, a chain probably won't deliver it, but that doesn't mean the food isn't good. I think their food is great. |
dine-in only. sucks
|
Not a big fan, I think it's terrible Italian food, but my parents will love this. They go every Sunday. TU

Well actually after you sit down/order your meal... They pre-make the bread, so some places it is tough. You do have olive oil and vinaigrette/pepper to make it taste better. Also, they have thin bread"sticks"... Soooooo your slightly wrong in that statement... Haha. Oh the days where I spend 11 Euro and get a large plate filled with lobster and penne... Then again; I'm not spending roughly $8 for a large burger and $2 for water... |
Love the steak marsala. Very good restaurant chain, Thanks OP.

I work at a Carrabbas in Florida. There is no excuse for those waits. Even if it was busy. Salads should take no longer than 5 minutes. Then they push the food within 15-20. It just sounds to me that you had an awful server. Not sure. But I know that our managers always take care of any guest who is not happy. Just give them a call or email the manager and they will for sure take care of you by giving you a free meals of gift cards or something. Quote:

thanks, time to use the gift card

Off-Topic, but since you are in the biz .. I was always curious if a tip is expect on take out orders.. most of the time, I have a drink at the bar while I wait for my food to be prepared and packed. I only leave tip on the drink, but not on the take out order.. |
Thanks. Not only my favorite chain Italian, but my favorite chain restaurant altogether.
|
Thought this was Cabela's...

macaroni grill feels more like a chain, kind of like chili's. i don't have anything against macaroni grill, but this always felt upscale to get into, yet felt like mcdonalds kind of service. food is good at least. |
Quote:
Now I will say thanks to the OP, because it is a good deal for any pasta lover and I may even use it as Carrabas is closer than Bocas for me. |

I work in the food industry, and have for quite a while. I currently serve at small family style Italian restaurant. I would say I don't expect a tip when selling something to go. Now maybe if its a very large order, or with many complications I would be more hopeful, but in all, no I don't expect, but its always appreciated! |
Carrabbas is tied with Texas Roadhouse for my favorite chain restaurant at the moment. Of course this meager honor changes up every 2-3 years.
Thanks for the coupon! |

I know they serve you panini (rolls) or grissini (breadsticks) but the difference between what you get there and here is like apples and oranges. Dont expect food at chain restaurants to be anything like what you got there, that's all I'm saying...anyone who's lived there should know not to expect that. |
Hey,my local Carrabbas is open at lunch now.If we go at lunch time but order dinner, will they let us use the coupon? This is basically a question for the person on here who works there. Thanks in advance!!
|
I've never been here before. Can't wait to try it out! :)
|
Are Panini or Pizza considered "Entrees"?
|
Chicken Bryan FTW
|
Thanks, I've never been to Carrabbas even though I pass one all the time. This gives me a great reason to stop :)
|
If you haven't been to Carrabba's, I highly encourage you to give them a try. Their prices are a little more than the Olive Garden but the quality is far and away higher. They have several items on their menu that are "Seasonal Specials" and available for limited time and will go away at the end of March. I highly recommend the "Forever Braised" Beef Brassato.
"Boneless beef short rib slow-cooked for hours until you can cut it with a fork. Topped with our rich red wine vegetable sauce and served over orzo pasta." Yum, but make sure you bring an appetite with you. |
No complaints on Carrabba's..I actually had them a step lower than Romano's Mac Grill, but Romano's has turnt its food into garbage.. I atleast enjoy the scallops and the salmon platter they have at Carrabba's. Def non of the food is comparable to Stouffers..But let me guess the person making these comments, eats out at Ruth Chris, Moon Fish, Timpano's , Melting Pot , Etc on a weekly basis correct?!! YEAH RIGHT!!

We've been to Macaroni Grill three times. The first time we left without dinner, as we were ignored at the host's podium for 15 minutes, then we sat for another 15 minutes without a server greeting us. To be a LITTLE fair, it was about 4:30 PM, and it was obvious the staff was setting up for dinner. But still, they were open for business. We also went two other times due to freebie lunch entree coupons we learned about on SDs. We sat at the bar, were served very well. The food was very good! I've been to a Carrabba's only twice, both times in SE Grand Rapids, MI. The food and service were all good. The food and the store itself reminded me of an Applebees with an Italian decor. If we're looking for good service and consistently good Italian food, we go to BRAVO! Cucina Italiana. |
carrabas is a pretty good chain Italian restaurant. usually good but they will always take care of you if something isnt to your liking...or call corp.
its not like going to an authentic Italian restaurant but for what it is....its good. maybe Im just spoiled being from this area and knowing the difference. IDK- |
I know where our dinner is going to be tonight :D. I haven't had a single bad experience with them, across several locations over the years. The Amici Club is pretty awesome... at random times throughout the year I receive invitation for myself +1 to attend a free exclusive dinner hosted by the store's owner. The dinner's consist of a free sampling, which turns out to be nearly full portion sizes, of all the upcoming items that will be featured on their menus. We also have all you can drink soda/tea/Sangria and a nice sampling of their desserts. It's a great time to meet new people (usually 20 people or so show up to the ones I attend) and to chat with the head chef and owner. I don't know of many other chain restaurants that offer that level of service!

Got a call from regional today. He said he would be sending something in the mail. I, guessing between $25-$50. |

They've given us free appetizer coupons at our table. They've given us free deserts just because they liked us. They've accepted coupons that were expired. They've always allowed for custom orders (i.e. instead of small app + small app, they let us get a regular sized app of one that didn't have a small version available -- i.e. bruschetta). |
pretty much means free tip for 2 people
|
I have been going to the Carrabbas in Scottsdale, AZ for years because of their great food and service.
Keep in mind I am vegetarian. If you go there and you don't see something you like ask about their off menu options. |
carrabba's has always been better than buca or mac grill for me.

Thanks/TU/Repped OP. I highly recommend saving the PDF Download Printable Version to your computer NOW.

Always excellent meals at this restaurant. Thanks OP.

Been to the Duluth, GA restaurant

Our local guide had us meet at Carrabba's for our pre-trip info session because he thought it was the closest to authentic Italian. Of course the food in Italy ran circles around Carrabba's but since we can't afford trips to Italy very often it will have to do. Sorry about the folks who have had bad experiences. |
Quote:
But yes, this side of the pond, there is no better CHAIN Italian, IMHO. |

we figured we'd give it a shot and try to use one per couple since we would have a separate tab per couple. the waitress came back and said she couldn't apply the coupons to everyone, but instead gave us $10 off on each of our 3 separate tabs. the food and service there is outstanding! would highly recommend |
I prefer Carrabbas when it comes to chain Italian restaurants. They have some unique dishes that I think they prepare well (I get the Rigatoni Martino almost every time...they don't have it on the menu anymore but they've made it for me each time for the past year or so). If I'm particularly hungry, I'll go with the chicken trio. I also like restaurants that have an open kitchen like they do. And the bread and dipping oil put Olive Garden's nasty garlic powdery breadsticks to shame.
You can certainly find more authentic local restaurants, but in terms of chains, I've always had good experiences there. Carrabbas is owned by the restaurant group that also owns Outback, Bonefish and Flemings Steakhouse, and I'd generally consider the food at all of them (less Flemings which I've never been to) at about the same quality. Thanks OP! |
thank you my gf will love this! :)
|
Anyone know if you can use the $10 off with the 3 course deal they just emailed out which runs from 3/4-3/7. It says not valid with any other offer or discount, but who knows. Some locations might let you use both. $14 for 2 3 course dinners would be pretty slick
|
Used ours tonight they honored the 10.00 off for the Monday 3 course specials, mine came with an appetizer,Mussells, they were the best I ever had, about 2 1/2 doz and that was only the appetizer. Great post thanks.

I usually get the veal marsala, excellent in, warwick, RI
