"Free after rewards" is not at all free. Since you're forced to buy more goods it's 50% discount with 2x original purchase price min and max. The out is if you can cash rewards with rebates or whatever, which isn't the case for most people.

I've done this deal 2 weeks in a row and got rewards both times. I'm going to wait until the end of the week to do it again so it posts for March, since my reward check for February is getting quite large because of it.

There was a coupon last week also, you'd be better off to just rebuy.

For me, FAR is as good as free, since I monitize my rewards. Staples makes that whole process so quick and painless. :heart:

How isn't it the case for most people? Everyone with a rewards account can use rewards dollars to buy cash rebate products. Sometimes, it can be difficult to cash out 100% of your rewards, but I have yet to run into a problem there. But that situation is a minority. Most people can (and do) turn their rewards into cash down the line. And get free, or extremely discounted, products in the process.

Also, I think it can be combined with the 20% off coupon, since the 5 pack doesn't ring up as a "case", based on info from last weeks deal. If the Q works, it means less upfront OOP, and still free in the long run.

I'm one of those, and I have a serious problem with this. I used ~$6 worth of rewards on this purchase, so I received only $14 instead of $20 worth of rewards for the purchase. Rewards should be like cash (store credit); they are not a coupon! I really don't see much reason to continue shopping at Staples.

All the Staples Rewards are great and easy to accumulate but in the end, you have to go back and spend them at the store on non-reward purchases. In the case of these copy paper, if you get them week to week, you end up with a lot of rewards and pray there's something good coming up in the near future.

Dude, just do a return and chalk it up to a learning experience.

I was under the impression that Staples Rewards NEVER roll, and you always have to use cash/credit and/or one of those Staples VISA rebate cards in order to get 100% back in rewards. I have never had a problem monitizing my rewards. ;)

Well actually, the 5 reems do fit into the bag, however I don't think they take it literally. You can usually use the Q on any non-excluded items, no matter how big they are! :lmao:

i don't shop in staples that much so almost all rewards i earned over the years expired unused. rewards to me are just like product costs not rebates.

If you're getting 2, remind you cashier that the coupon needs to be scanned twice. Some cashiers don't bother to read the coupon.

You need to read more in the initial phases of staples deals.

1. Rewards do not roll on rewards items. Don't use rewards to buy rewards items. Use rewards on Free After Rebate items. This way, when you buy FAR item and submit rebate, you get check (cash) for the amount of item. So in the end, you get initial Reward Item and Rebate item later for FREE. Now, when you buy rebate item with a coupon (e.g. $10 item for $5 after coupon), you still get $10 back. Hence, it makes you money.
2. You don't pay tax on items paid with rewards. Rewards ARE considered as coupons. Staples taxes you on final amount you owe, after all coupons. So if you buy everything with Rewards, you don't owe any taxes. More so of a money maker.
3. All the spends you do (except ones with rewards), qualify for Premier account.

Staples, IMO, is one of the best stores you can ever shop in. EVER. Just start to read and ask questions. You will be helped and happy.

You think there are more FAR rebates than there are. If they're not FAR then you're spending money to "make" money.

What I have learned from the posts was that it was coded in their system to only be five but they screwed up when posting the ink terms as limit 10 for standard on Staples.com. So, they were issuing one-time vouchers for the difference when you contacted them IF you mentioned the terms on Staples.com.

You Staples gurus really have no idea how confusing you all can make the Staples Rewards Recycling program out to be, especially when you start introducing math into a thread to entertain ideas on how to maximum rewards. (YOU, you know who you are, have wasted so much of my time reading your elaborations on deals past.) All you ever need do is pretty much outline the rules as ToadKilla did above (read a good thread/wiki on FW, BTW) and let each/every SDer do their own damn math, but better yet...why not have them watch a simple instructional video to solidify the "Staples deal" (aka; 'criss-cross') concept in their minds?

I average earning about $125-140/month in rewards. How much I cash out depends on what's out there---some months, it's a lot; some months, it's not much. Software deals generally make it possible to cash out everything I need to before they expire. I'm not the only one this applies to.

Staples needs to train them well, don't unleash like that. For now, I probably just pay for Costco paper. I have to admit that I am a coward.

IF I was ever in a situation of wasting rewards there are a couple of options. 1) Buy and return something in the last 7 days they are good to extend the rewards another month or 2) at least buy some overpriced Staples staples like TP, paper towels, etc. and make some use of the rewards.

BTW, are you premier? IIRC, Staples sends out emails for expiring rewards for premier members. Have never gotten to that point. It is only sold in the stores so you will not find it on Staples.com. You can find the skus on the rebate in the rebate center using "total" via the product keyword search. If you care to you can call Staples.com (1-800-333-3330) and ask them to check store inventory with the skus. Or call the store instead.

You won't find TD on staples.com, it's a continuing rebate. Go to https://www.stapleseasyrebates.com and do a keyword search for total defense. You've got until Nov 2013 to submit it, plenty of time.

Last week I bought the paper and the Lysol wipes in the same transaction. I thought I would be fine since they are both rewards items and I paid them cash.
The 5-ream paper coupon took off 4.99 to make the paper "free after rewards", but according to my awards account, I didn't get full rewards credit for the wipes. A % of the paper coupon shows like it went to the wipes as well. :(

Actually, you only have 60 days to submit it. "Postmark Date: Purchase Date plus 60 days". The rebate offer does not expire until 11/10/13.

I believe I read somewhere that they send you an e-mail if you are premier and are about to miss the deadline to submit a SER. I doubt anyone here has ever gotten one because SD'ers generally don't forget to submit SER's. I don't recall anything about them e-mailing for expiring rewards but that doesn't mean it isn't true.

This may have been already answered. I read somewhere that this is the same promotion every week. In other words, if you bought it last week and you buy again this week that counts towards your limit because it's the same promotion running through 3/2. Can you buy two cases every week?

Lysol deal did not work correctly with online orders. You can either try your luck with Rewards chat/phone or return them.

Supposedly they are supposed to fix this issue by the 14th before they release rewards earned in February so you still may get it. I had the same issue and just returned them in-store and then did a rebuy right away. Store issued rewards for the Lysol were not an issue just those bought online.

I did this, too. I thought it would be OK since even the receipt had the 4.99 off of each ream specifically. But come rewards time, I only got 10.17 for all of the lysol (instead of 11.97).

I contacted them and they agreed the coupon was applied incorrectly. They wanted a copy of my receipt emailed or faxed to them. I gave that to them yesterday, so hopefully it will be corrected. It isn't much $$ to be worried about, but it is still the point of it. :)

Thanks, I'm probably not going to mess with it for a few cents, especially since I will use the wipes. I'll just use this as a lesson to never trust them and always use coupons in separate transactions. At least the $20 rewards for the paper wasn't affected.

The 5 ream doesn't ring up as case paper so it should work. I didn't try since the 4.99 coupon already makes it free after rewards. In the past the 10 off case paper coupon wouldn't work on these so staples must have it as just 5 reams in their system. If you are buying other items you can have cashier scan the 20% after the paper coupon.

I talked with someone as well and they said that the database is being updated. The person did not know a thing about it. Said I will get rewards March 14. Will call later and talk to someone else.
