Dell - 23" Widescreen Flat-Panel IPS LED HD Monitor

Doesn't seem to reflect the advertised price in cart for some reason. I am going to try and get this monitor at my local best buy today though. Surely it's just a system update needed to fix the in cart price.

COSTCO IS WAY BETTER, [costco.com] 1) Cheaper 2) Return unconditional if there are any problems. :look:

Costco link [costco.com]

Costco has it for $160 available online. Coupled with their awesome return policy, that's probably your best bet.

Also, this monitor does NOT come with a DVI cable. It uses DVI-D dual link (source: I have one).

24" model is $170 on Newegg http://slickdeals.net/f/5872356-Dell-S2440L-24in-VA-Panel-LED-Monitor-w-HDMI-to-DVI-Adapter-169-99-Fee-shippng

Does anyone know how this is comparable to 23” DellTM UltraSharpTM U2312HM monitor?

SlvrFox 02-24-2013 07:10 AM

The U2312HM lists @ $299 as compared to this one @ $229, the UltraSharp is much more for your $$ for just $10 more @ $179.99.

This is true. However, for me, the drive and gas spent or the shipping charge with that monitor cancel out the overall savings. I'm hoping to get this one and be happy with it. I would love that ultrasharp though.

You also need to consider the 3 year perfect panel guarantee (zero bright pixels) advanced exchange warranty that all Ultrasharps come with, vs 1 year basic warranty on this one. Not to mention DisplayPort and USB hub.

I have bought a number of monitors. The packaging is so good that even if you drop it from the airplane, the monitor would still be fine.

Not a monitor expert by any means so anyone know what is the difference between this monitor and the below: (I bought 2 at staples last week using some $25/$75 coupons and rewards I had...(they were also $169.99 on sale LW) I didnt do a whole lot of research prior to purchase but they do look nice..
Thanks for any input:

Bought four of these last week for the office. Pretty impressed with them. We use them in dual monitor setups, so the thin bezel is very nice.

We got them at Costco for $159.99

I have an older UltraSharp (u2311 similar to u2312hm) and ive compared both to this model s2340 when I was first researching.

The Ultrasharp is VESA mountable and has a lot of options for adjusting and moving (up/down/swivel/tilt upward and downward)
The S2340 looks like it can only tilt up and down, and no VESA mounts

The bezel on the Ultrasharp is much larger which IMO is much nicer on this S2340

Also, as mentioned above, the Ultrasharp has a USB hub and Displayport connections

as far as I can tell the u2312hm is more flexible with the option to flip the monitor to portrait view, adjust the viewing angle horizontally, adjust the height, has 4 usb slots, and is VESA compatible

I just bought this monitor for $160 two weeks ago (using it now). The picture looks nicer than my ~$400 monitor at work! BUT, this monitor does have a small amount of ghosting. I game a fair amount and got used to it after a couple hours but if you're looking for a monitor with zero ghosting then IPS is not for you. Also, there's a small amount of backlight bleed in the corner but is only noticeable on an all black screen. Finally, this is a GLOSSY display; it is very reflective. I would not recommend it if you're looking to use this monitor in a brightly lit room. Oh one more thing, DVI (dual link) and VGA only.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a really nice looking monitor without the bells and whistles and don't mind a little ghosting then this is an excellent monitor!

FragileRock 02-24-2013 01:51 PM

If I remember the planograms right, some stores may only have this on display by the Alienware desktops if your local store has those, and not with the rest of the monitors on the wall

Seems like someone comes out w/ a better deal as the thread goes on:)

How come dell.com doesn't carry this model? I can't find this model from their website. Is this model like designed for retail stores?

It's a good question. I only see it from a few of the foreign Dell sites.

Just got back from BB to check it out. It's a great looking monitor for sure. Very tempting.

I bought this monitor a couple weeks ago from Amazon & am returning it. Just bought 2 U2312HM's from microcenter deal (shipped).

My gripes with this monitor:
Glossy: 1st glossy monitor and I couldn't stand it since I use it for work. It's fine at night but terrible in the day.
Contrast ratio: not as good as other ips monitors I have
Viewing angles: washes out quickly compared to my other IPS monitors
Vesa: Decided to mount my monitors and this one cant (reasonably)

I can't comment on ghosting since I quit gaming 2 years ago, non issue for me.

Thanks mythus. I took the Costco page over to Best Buy. Not only did they match the price but the customer service rep was actually friendly about it.

A few weeks ago, Amazon also had this monitor for $160. I have to pay Amazon sales tax, so I'd rather go to a B&M for the same price.

neongold 02-25-2013 06:05 PM

At check out it says $229.99
