these sets are in fact made in china. they don't say "made in usa" on the tools like the old school ones, but look the same none the less. they still have a lifetime warrenty, so unles you are dead set on not giving any money across seas, they are pretty much the same. the tray these sets come in are nice enough u could stick in your tool chest. the trays are black as you can see and each tool is labeled in white, so you don't have to pick it up to see what size it is, so that is nice :)

These sets are all 6-point sockets, and the finish is beautiful. The ratchets are better, too (finer pitch, smoother).
Edit: 1/2" drive set is 12-pt.

Thanks for the post i missed this last time too. i got the 3/8 then the 1/4 for a little more a few weeks later. ive been waiting to get the 1/2in for a while now and just pulled the trigger.

These are amazing socket sets made in the USA and for the most part all inclusive... lol you don't realize how stoked i am to have got these. Only thing is making space in the tool chest

These are USA made tools.

Either some components are made in the U.S. and shipped to China for final assembly or components are made in China with finally assembly made in the U.S., both displaying the stamping “Made in the U.S.A.”
Will never really know the truth.
Bad as in the day when the Japanese were sending over Pick-up trucks without the bed, later assembling the bed on the truck in the U.S., and evading the tariffs.

I've done a lot of tool research over the past couple of weeks. However, I guess I haven't done enough.
Can anyone tell me what's so special about this set? I mean a 1/4 drive ratchet set for $50? My 150 piece set (made in the USA) has everything the 1/4 set has except a couple of deep sockets, the thin ratchet, and the 6 inch extension.

well the one thing i can tell you is you can tell a difference in look of the craftsman stamped made in usa tools and the newest ones with no origin stamped made in china. these are defiantly "new old stock" 2000s quality sockets. They might not be 100% made in the USA like you said but do you have proof at all?

oh and since I'm so ignorant can you find me a 1/2 set with 16 deep 24 standard both sae and metric, 2 extensions and ratchet for 85 shipped? (i also got -5 and 20 dollars in points off my next sears purchase bringing it to a realistic 60 shipped)

Funny, Ford still evades the Chicken Tax tariffs by importing vehicles with seatbelts, then removing and trashing the belt once they're here in the states. How times have changed.

For a product to be labeled "made in USA" it had to be "all or virtually all" made here. Given that each piece in these sets are stamped USA, I'd say it's a fair bet you conspiracy theorists are wrong.

Previous thread plus pics from last year compared the the US-Craftsman thin-profile ratchets versus imported versions showed similar performance but difference in overall shape and finish. Grab the US versions while they last no matter the truth.

I got the 3/8" Thin-Profile set a while back and love it. Nice hefty ratchet. I just took the plunge on the Professional Use set for the 1/4" and 1/2" set. I do like the thin-profile ratchets though. Darn Sears for these sales.

Did you get all three of them? If so were they all that way? If so that sucks. I was saving up to get all three of them too.

i did get all 3 and all 3 r from china...i was lazy last night, not as much today...posted some pics so everyone can see for themselves on these. personally, i obviously would rather them be "made in usa", but i'm happy with them and at this price, will be hard to find a better deal anytime in the near future....and would imagine if there is another deal....it's going to be the same way as the tools are now being made in china, so going to be really hard to find old school unless u hit up ebay, craigslist, yard sell or something like that.

Nice how is that ratchet? I was looking to get one of the modules but not if they are made in China. I got the 26pc 1/2 set already (I was going to sell that and get the module but not sure about that now) But maybe now I'll just get a metric socket set and that ratchet instead?

I have the 3/8 & waiting for the 1/2 drive by the end of this month :heart: the Premiun Grade 84 teeth is very smooth & the grip itself are more easy to handle & plus giving more leverage than other ratchet!
Also, the metric Professional 16 pc 1/2 inch drive are no longer exist / OOS for the past month! :(

Thanks and repped, I know they are having a craftsman club sale starting sunday i think? Hopefully some of this stuff will go on a big sale again. Yeah been keeping on eye on that set but losing faith. But considering that 82pc keeps coming back I haven't totally given up. If not I figure I can just buy the sockets themselves if it comes down to it. But they do seem to be phasing out everything american so i'm trying to pick it all up while i can.
