I have the 16GB one. I do not like the download speeds.

should be fine for xbox use

nufan8888 02-25-2013 10:31 AM

Go find me another drive that is faster then this and the same size?
And also for that price.
I bet you can't, cause most of these drives are the same thing and everything is just based on price.

8 GB shows as $7.99 when added to the cart, and 16 GB shows as $12.99. Has anyone actually tried to order this yet?

Price stays that way through checkout, so that's not the issue.

4+ MB/s seems satisfying to me, as a regular USB 2.0 drive at this price.

That was specifically for the BB site. Skipped over the Amazon part the first time. My bad.
No tax, faster free shipping, Amazon FTW.
Repped.

kataxist 02-25-2013 12:34 PM

I have one. its a nice drive.

Slow but it has a really small foot print, looks nice, no caps to lose and has been holding up pretty well.

dxmemxpac 02-25-2013 12:38 PM

Same price on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Di...lash+Drive

diamondjoker5 02-25-2013 12:40 PM

Not talking speeds, the drive is the absolute best in terms of build quality. One piece perfect cut aluminum usb with a keyring. The problem with flash drives was i would always lose them. This one is attached to my keys and goes where ever I go all the time.

Been waiting for a usb 3.0 version to come out.

MzTredecim 02-25-2013 12:42 PM

I also have one of these and really like it. It's really small and durable. Yes, speed could be better and I'm surprised they never made a newer model in USB 3.0. I'm going to get two more, one for my Nexus and another for xbox/ps3.

grueber 02-25-2013 12:43 PM

Thanks been looking for a small drive I can hang off a keychain. Don't care about transfer speed for its intended use.

beeemerm5 02-25-2013 12:49 PM

in for the 16gb drive...great price ..thanks op

has anyone had issues with the nand chip falling out of the casing?

nmarscha 02-25-2013 12:52 PM

No tax through Amazon.

These things are great. I paid more for the one that I use on my keychain. Use one in my car for music

thesaint1138 02-25-2013 01:00 PM

I have the 16GB version. Not incredibly fast as others have mentioned, but it is very small and durable. It has held up really well as a keychain flash drive.

May get another at this price. Thanks OP.

EK100 02-25-2013 01:11 PM

Goes great on a keychain without looking like a dork because it blends in with the keys really well. Had it on there for a year and its held up.

Have another that's pugged into a pc all the time and it get friggin hot. Not quite but close to too hot to touch.

I was able to just buy one at the 7.99 and free ship w/ prime price just now. Dunno if I just got lucky but is there an option to select a different seller?

I am still seeing $7.99 w/ Amazon Prime.

xDigx 02-25-2013 01:36 PM

amazon pricematch is still live for me. I owned one of these drives before. I ended up re-selling it because it was too tight a fit when inserting and removing from ports. I think because the molding around the pins is part of the insertion point, and it's just a tad thicker then your typical metal connecter housing. It was slower then my voyager too.

Still not bad for the price though.

That is a lot bigger than this, but I am more interested in the 3.0 drive that was $8 and only 1.5" long. I have seen some cheap no name brands 3.0 16gb for around $10 that didn't involve a rebate, but even they were 2.5" at best.

edit: The 3.0 had a rebate, many people hate rebates. Also it is 2.5" not 1.5", small but still 66% longer.

Just a random question, but what do people carry with them 24/7 on this thing? I keep thinking about buying it but then think "why would I ever need 16GB of space on my keyring?" Especially considering how cheap (ie free) 25GB cloud sites are and how pretty much everyone has access to high speed internet.

It has happened to me once less than a month after I got it, but Kingston was really good about it. They paid the return shipping and sent me a replacement quickly. The replacement and others I've bought since haven't had it happen. The customer service was top notch for such an inexpensive item.

For me, I use it not for the stuff that I need to carry with me at all times but for the stuff that I may get from other people when I'm away from home. Sometimes you're offline, and sometimes the files total ~5GB and not exactly practical to send over the Internet.

I bought about 10 of these over the last couple of years. It's NOT very fast, but it's not super slow either. It's average for speed, but it's awesome for convenience. One has been on my keychain (along with 10 keys) and I throw/drop my keys all the time. It's very durable. Mine has many scratches and one little dent, but I see no performance issues.

My PC illiterate wife uses one to carry around photos of the family. I load her pics on it so she can print them out at WM. I use them to give away Media to friends and family

nmarscha 02-25-2013 02:07 PM

Kind of funny...ordered two - but after reading this threat I realized I already have one for my keychain and a 32 gig as well. Combined with my subscription to BitCasa I guess two is plenty.

Canceled both my orders. Slickdeals has a weird effect on the mind.

Actually - going to reorder one for the gf's keychain.

DrumTek 02-25-2013 02:13 PM

Showing as 12.99 for me on best buy. And the other Sandisk on sale is showing for $28. Not sure why

presta24 02-25-2013 02:14 PM

I have 2 of these. 1 8gb and 1 16gb, keep them on my key ring so no matter which car I drive I have one for work. Transfer speeds could be better, but as far as size, build quality and price you cant beat em. No problems at at with them on my key rings. In for a 16gb for the wife.

JDub8 02-25-2013 02:21 PM

I have this and I can affirm:

-It gets warm when plugged in
-It has so-so speeds
-It blends in with keys very well.

Two things it does NOT have that I wish it did:

-Some kind of quick release option so the weight of my keychain isnt on the usb port (not really a problem for me at the moment but for others it could be)
-Some kind of cover for the end - being in my pants pocket its bound to get lint, dust and dirt in the USB port =/. Yes im sure it would get lost but it would be nice to have while it lasted.

J03 02-25-2013 02:23 PM

Eh for $8 I caved. In for 1 for my key chain. I never have a flash drive at the ready when I need it so maybe this will solve my problem.

DrumTek 02-25-2013 02:54 PM

I caved in for 2 as well. Placed my order through BB over the phone since online price was coming up as $13 instead of $8.
