I hated SSX, and wouldn't recommend it unless you have to have a snowboard game right now. It lacks all the charm of its predecessors. I've also seen it sell used on gamefly for cheaper.

Man, Castlevania either REALLY sucks on the Xbox or not many Xbox owners are in to Castlevania because I always see it on sale for ridiculous prices and it is virtually never at this price for PS3.

Seconded. I had been pretty stoked (pun intended?) when it first came out so I snagged it at the first $40 sale and man was that ever a mistake.


Now if they ever decided to reboot the Cool Boarders franchise, I'd probably pre-order that sucker. :bounce:

One of the best snowboard games I ever played was Amped 2 for the original Xbox. It's graphics are not bad even today. Hated Amped 1 & 3 but 2 had a great charm to it. But yes, the new SSX sucks.

For anyone who has yet to play it, I STRONGLY recommend Castlevania LOS. It was hugely underatted because some idiot reviewers got stuck?

The game is an 8 at the lowest. The gameplay, graphics, enemy design and last boss battle are a complete masterpiece. Also the final cutscene after you beat the game is nothing short of epic.

Yea this is why I want to play it. I have heard it is a must play, but my backlog is so big right now I don't want to pay too much so I have been waiting for this $9-10 price that the Xbox version always seems to have.

I personally thought Castlevania LOS was horrid. Really lame game. Very poor rip off of games like God of War. I played on the PS3, but I can't imagine the 360 version is much better.

A few of you have me on the fence with Castevania. It looks good from the trailers and reviews though.

I just tried SSX on the 360 a few weeks ago, couldn't get into it, played about two or three hours before I had to put it down. I've played a fair amount of SSX 3 and Tricky, but this one didn't feel the same to me.

Really want Castlevania, but for PS3. Heard the 360 version isn't as good as the PS3 bc the PS3 was the lead game while the 360 was a port of that.

The Limbo pack is tempting but I already paid full price for Splosion Man and got bored with it. I must have $200 worth of useless XBLA games on my 360 that I never play... and it's not like I can sell them or even give them away. I guess I will leave them on the HD and whomever buys my 360 gets some bonus games.

That's one hell of a deal for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Wish the PS3 version was that cheap. I bought the PS3 version for $19.99 but I guess it's worth it since the game is only on one disc for the PS3 version.

Otomedius Excellent for $10 seems like a good deal. That's one of the reasons why I want to get a XBox 360 so I can experience all the shoot 'em ups that never made it to PS3.

Ugh, I agree. I bought it for PS3 the first time it hit $30 because I loved SSX Tricky, SSX3, and even SSX On Tour, but with this game, I felt like I was constantly fighting the physics engine. Your character sticks to EVERY surface on the course, it seems, and always throws off any line I might have.

I hope it's nothing like Simon's Quest. I'm actually looking forward to playing Lords of Shadow.

I bought this a while ago from BestBuy and the code inside it was invalid. It also had an expiration date for the end of 2011 so you might want to mention that this may be YMMV.

For those that are wondering why the 360 version of Castlevania LoS is cheaper than the PS3, its mainly because the 360 version has 2 discs. After you unlock certain items/skills in the game you can go back to previous missions and find other items with the new items/skills you have acquired.

If you are on one of the final 7 chapters and want to go back to one of the first 6 chapters you will need to swap discs, even if you have the game installed on the 360 HD. Its an annoyance. Other than that the games are virtually identical with the PS3 edging out a couple extra FPS in some heavy action sections. Most would never notice a difference.

I payed $20 for LoS a year or so ago and it was money well spent. This game is great.

I would say the game is more like God of War, Devil May Cry or the new Ninja Gaiden series.

I highly recommend Castlevania too. If you like hack n slash with some RPG elements and a good story, definitely pick it up, especially at this price. I played it on the 360 and had no issues...the only drawback being that it's two discs, so once you get new skills and start jumping back and forth between early chapters and late chapters, you'll be switching discs a lot. Or just do what I did and wait until near the end then go back and sweep through disc 1 for everything then finish the game.

Not at all. It plays a lot like the God of War series.

Also, that triple pack is very worth it. Limbo is short but excellent, Trials HD is one of the most addicting games ever created...I've sunk a LOT of time into it. I have yet to play Splosion Man but hear nothing but great things.

I found Castlevania and SSX to be extremely boring. Some peeps liked this Castlevania but I grew up w/ all the old school 2d ones from NES, SNES, GB/GBA/DS, and PSX. Limbo was great. Otomedius Excellent is a decent price but is only for the extreme hard core shootem ups fan. I own every single shooter for the Xbox 360 and this is the worst one.

HORRID? Really? You want to play a horrid game...go play mind jack. People don't know what horrid really is. I remember a game I played as a child that was so terrible it gives me nightmares even today. Its called Omikron the nomad soul.

I don't think it ripped off god of war at all, Castlevania always had a whip wielding protagonist (except for SOTN and handheld titles). What exactly did it rip off? The quick time events? Many games do that, should we consider every third person shooter a rip off of RE4? That game brought light to the 3d person shooter.

So what were you're problems with the game? You say it was a terrible ripoff, explain what was terrible? I'll tell you what I loved:

*The story was unexpected, no one could have predicted the last boss battle.

*The bosses were FUN and very engaging. They were crafted very well. They were challenging but not cheap in difficulty.

*The combat was very strategic and it was not a button masher. You needed to use you head and tactically use your moves. It is also important to note that I liked the heaven/hell system (which the new dmc: devil may cry copied) and how each had cool moves that euther replenished health or damaged alot of enemies.

*The combo system actually had a point in giving you more heaven/hell orbs, letting you use your special meter more often.

*The ending was the best Castlevania end of all Castlevania's and I CAN'T WAIT for LOS 2

Last but not least, the majority opposes your opinion as this is the highest selling castlevania of all time. Even higher than SOTN, which many believe to be the best in the series (I like them both).

So don't discourage people from buying an amazing game (at a crazy low price...since I payed full price for it) because you thought it was HORRID?

I had the same problem with them last year. I finally canceled the order and had my card refunded - then it came in the mail. oh well

I called them back to let them know I recieved it but they put me on hold forever so I said screw it, they can pay me for my time with the product.

the last hack and slash games... ok.. DmC the new one I think is really good... I also love Ninja Gaiden I and II... never played III... huge fan of God of War I, II, and III. And I didn't hate that this game had the chain, that is something that is part of the Castevania series.. they just did a poor job in the mechanics of it.

yes.. the link I gave had a 81.84... many of those reviews, were about a 7.5 / 10... there were a couple that really liked, but they were from smaller websites, not very popular ones, where ign.com, gave it a 7.5/10. Not to say I haven't played games below an 85 or anything, but for my money and time, I prefer more generally liked games. Ok.. perhaps I exaggerated the HORRID thing in retrospect, but I just didn't like it.. so I guess it was HORRID. For me. And apparently quite alot of other people.

Well my biggest reason for not liking it... and I really wanted to like it, as I liked SOTN and older Castlevania titles, were the controls. It felt very sluggish to me. I hope the developers do better with the next game coming soon.

I I agree with this. While I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece, the music, visuals, combat, and the environments in the game are top notch. I would still say god of war is better but that at be due to my interest in Greek mythology and I grew up playing god of war. Castlevania is a must have for people who enjoy button mashers like God of war
