:deaddeal:

Shows up as $17.24 as of 12:48 PM EST. $18.xx plus shipping from CH seller linked.

Interex 02-27-2013 06:31 AM

Not that great of a deal.

$17 at Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Campbel...V/17128846

I've got one of these and it works alright. The gauge isn't very accurate anymore but it still does the job.

SuperSport346 02-27-2013 07:09 AM

It's $14-15 at Sears. I bought one a month ago but haven't used it yet. I've read good things about them.

harshan9 02-27-2013 07:10 AM

I bought the HF one on sale for $6.xx a few years back and it works great.

deserthawk 02-27-2013 07:13 AM

This may be a dumb question, but: Is this just a pump? Do you inflate by squeezing the trigger? If so, how do you inflate a car tire this way?

SweatyPalm 02-27-2013 07:16 AM

You would need to have a compressor I suppose.

lj_wannabe 02-27-2013 07:16 AM

Really? It is over 50% more expensive at Walmart and you are saying it is not that great of a deal?

Not sure if your serious, but I'll assume you are. This is a attachment for a compressor. The handle lets you regulate the air flow and the dial monitors the pressure in the tire.

jbrubaker 02-27-2013 07:38 AM

Picked one up. Thanks, OP.

Khaos13 02-27-2013 07:53 AM

I've had mine for almost a year and though I have heard several people say that they like theirs except it isn't accurate mine has been accurate every time! A+ in my book!

I think he's referring to "savings" from Amazon's over inflated price on the item. I've never seen this item going for 40 bucks.

kalrith 02-27-2013 08:13 AM

Several reviews on Amazon mention problems with certain tires.

I had a few in my cart that I was waiting for the price to drop, around $70/ea. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this one.

JED918 02-27-2013 08:28 AM

I own this, and love it. Especially nice having the ability to inflate the tire and read the PSI at the same time. It is very sturdy, and attaches to the valve easily without leaking.

LLcj 02-27-2013 09:12 AM

I have one as well. I use it to inflate my tires regularly, and when I swap my summer tires and wheels for my winter ones. It's pretty good, but not perfect. I use it to inflate to a little more than I need and use the craftsman digital guage (http://www.sears.com/craftsman-pr...823020000P) that shows up here occasionally on sale to bring the tires down to the right levels.

someone28624 02-27-2013 09:13 AM

Can anyone recommend a compressor to go with this? I'm another idiot that thought this was a stand-alone device.

xhopesfall24 02-27-2013 09:15 AM

This brand makes terrible products that will fail in a short period of time. Its best to find something more reliable that will actually be accurate and last. Really surprised to find this on the front page.

This guy should supply you with a never ending supply of air.

http://www.sears.com/ingersoll-ra...ockType=L1

But if you are poor like the rest of us, then maybe something like this would be better.

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-ev...ockType=G1

Note it goes on sale frequently so you might be better of waiting a month or so.

Hefner413 02-27-2013 09:29 AM

I also have this. Inflates fine, but pressure isn't accurate. Usually 2-4 pounds off. I would NOT buy it again....

Hey, there might come a day we might have to use that one again to inflate all kinda tires. But for now - my 60Gal CH compressor I bought right here on SD in 2006 is still going strong. My Peak Battery backup has a built in inflator as well;)

simplec6 02-27-2013 09:33 AM

Damn dead

PiCASSiMO 02-27-2013 09:34 AM

Price went up to $17.24... was for $11.xx for a few seconds before it bounced up. As of 11:30CST.

Not even the same product. This product, when used with a compressor, allows you to inflate tires as well as check the air pressure.

abbazaba14 02-27-2013 09:40 AM

I have purchased 3 of these. All are accurate according to my trusted gauges. They work great and I converted one into a universal head for bicycle tires using this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1

EDIT: All were between $12-$14 when purchased.

Did you not know the Amazing Algoritm:

1. Lower Price for a popular product or one they want to advertise.
2. Let a few folks purchase at the lower price.
3. Every 30 Secs, check to see if it made SD FP.
4. If a lot of folks buy before going to SD FP, mark as OOS. End of Flow.

5. If it makes SD FP and still only a few folks buy, let it sit on SD FP for 2-3 more orders.
6. If still getting a lot of hits on SD, increase price back to its original everyday Sale Price.

7. By now, enough advertising has been achieved for this product and a lot of SDers will buy this product at an inflated price - disappointed they missed the lower price.

8. Bingo... Cushy Profit and drives Bezos towards his next Billion.

Not sure how much of SD Mgmt collusion is on this one.

you are correct. if yours is flat u may have to sqeeze it ten times to get it up.
most of the time i squeeze mine 4 times and i am ready to go. My girlfriend usually only squeeze it one or twice and the thing is up to pressure. on a long trip sometimes i like to sqeeze it for fun going down the road. its a handy device.

They're a convenience. Bought one of this type for shop use, still had double check with known good air guage.

Don't drop it. Mine broke when I dropped it on concrete. I didn't replace it - even though I did tire inflation several times a day, it wasn't a big enough convenience to bother getting another, which would probably break (regardless of brand). In a way, using it was kind of a hassle, not that convenient after all.

This Amazon review pretty much covers it -

Received my gauge two days ago and hooked it up. Readings were way off, when compared to a digital gauge, but the worst part was the actual valve. Clumsy and flimsy, and with the rims on my truck difficult to use. Purchased a classic brass tire inflator with a sliding PSI gauge (like they have at most service stations) from The Home Depot for $16 and it worked much better. Buying this product was a mistake.

It will last longer and hold it's accuracy better, too.

Workforce Dual Foot Inflator and Gauge [homedepot.com]

Model # 17850HOM - Store SKU # 850061
Search http://www.homedepot.com for title or SKU (if SD borks the link I won't try to fix it).

Thanks, and yes I was serious. I read the info about it on the website and couldnt find anything about it in that regard, but it seemed to be unlikely to pump up a car tire without a compressor. Repped

what's the reason people troll, is it so they can get their post count up and what does a high count do anyways?

What's so hard to understand?

The purpose of the product is to inflate something - it does that just fine. A secondary function is to tell you what the pressure is - it's inaccurate. Use another pressure gauge to verify the readings if you plan to use this device.

Lol! My bad - without looking too deeply into this, I thought it was merely a pressure gauge. I stand corrected! And embarrased...
