Costco has a PowerLand [costco.com] 10,000 Watt, electric start generator for $819. I am not familiar with this brand, but I presume you are getting good quality and backing from Costco.

8,000 running Watts

Amazon [amazon.com] has it for $1,299. Not too many reviews [amazon.com] and they are mixed. The bad reviews seem to focus on it blowing a gasket within the first couple months of purchase, but one of those reviews said that problem was related to just a specific lot of generators.

Good price. Not sure if I want to replace a gasket in the dark, in the middle of an ice storm, but at $819, maybe you can buy a backup for your backup

Almost 20 gallons per day.

That about $70-$80 bucks a day at 50% load. But better than sitting in the dark watching you freezer melt.

Check in store - my store has had a Gas/Propane one for quite a while now.

I think it's like 6500 running and 7500 peak or something. It was $699 (same as my 9000peak / 7500 running one that I bought).

I preferred the more watts instead of alternate fuel options. I wish it was the same watts and I would have been all over it!

I have 3 propane tanks that I could use - and Costco actually sells a 100lb propane tank for like $99 at my local store that I would be able to get through a few days with a generator with just that and never have to worry about the fuel filter.
