Unless there was a major revamp to Final Fantasy XIV, it isn't worth the electricity consumed in playing it, let alone the monthly subscription. Day one player before the epic failure at launch.

In for one. Canceled my Amazon preorder as they charge tax + no discount. Newegg ended up being $69.99 free shipping :) I don't mind the delay time in receiving my order as usually new rollout nights are quite buggy.

I've pre-ordered a lot of newegg games and MOST OFTEN they ship UPS Ground ON release day. They ship from NJ, TN, or CA. Most often it seems they ship from TN to me on the east coast which is a 2 day zone for me. So if the game comes out on Tuesday I will get it Thursday.

On rare instances (seems to be less popular titles) they ship the game via UPS Mail Innovations which means it will be shipped UPS part of the way and USPS the rest of the way which takes FOREVER. They seem to always ship games via Mail Innovations if you order it via EggSaver free shipping AFTER release.

On extremely rare instances they ship the game before the release and I have it on release day or the day after.

The bottom line is that if you expect it on release day then Newegg is not for you.

U guys that complain about not getting the game on release date, just keep in mind when Blizzard rolls out a new expansion, the 1st few days are usually filled with implementation bugs, server instabilities, or other gameplay hindering issues. It's not like you are missing out much getting the game few days later.

Never got the chance to test it the relaunch beta, but i heard they just tried to make it more like WoW. I do wonder why they are launching this and FFXI expansion on the same day though.

Id agree with you if the beta wasnt so damn good. I love the multiplayer even more now and the new and improved features are great. I want to give Blizz a good slap around but thats gonna be in the form of not buying the Diablo 3 expansion.

FFXIV A Realm Reborn is only starting Beta testing at the end of February. It is definitely not coming out in March, they must have dates confused. It is supposed to come out in like December.

Blizzard games have never (and won't any time soon) be activated or sold on steam.

They have their own account/game management software (on a cloud). You activate your game on blizzard's website view a created account.

Yup, you are correct, Newegg might have mistaken the release date with another one of SE's games, and other MMO. The new expansion to FFXI is to be released 3/26.

It doesn't require the original. Just RR. If you have an account from the original FFXIV, you won't need to repurchase i believe, just subscribe.

Also, it is no longer "free" only because the servers are down and won't be up until the relaunch for FFXIV.

FFXI still has a monthly subscription.

I didn't play the release, but I played XIV v1.0 through the closed and open Betas, and now I'm playing ARR in closed Beta. So far, the battle system seems very different from what I remember of 1.0. It's a lot more playable, although they definitely still need to iron some things out. The quest flow also seems a lot better, and it's more fun than what I remember of grinding guild leves in 1.0. There's only been one test session in phase 1 Beta so far, but I'm enjoying it a lot, and there should be plenty of time for them to tweak things thru the 4 Beta phases before release.

The original version of XIV is offline. I think they shut down the servers in December to get ready for the relaunch. You can sign up for the A Realm Reborn Beta if you want to check it out before release. [square-enix.com] It's in phase 1(of 4) closed Beta right now, but I think they're sending out invites before each phase, and the last one is an open Beta.

Look how much WoL dropped after release. I'm waiting.

You might be waiting for a while for the price to drop. I don't think the price of Wings of Liberty fluctuated more than $10 until half a year or more after release. If you want to play the campaign/multiplayer now/soonish, you probably shouldn't wait for a price drop. Plus, $10 off at release is a pretty good deal.

HoTS will but the included DVDs will only install on Windows. You'd have to download the installer from Blizzard.
