The very first coupon is for 25 off staples multipurpose 10 ream case. Next weeks ad has that case with 25$ rebate on it. The coupon should work 2 days after the expiration date. So, it should make the case paper FAR for sunday and maybe monday

Staples has Free reusable shopping bag this week (0.99 cents before coupon). If I purchase the free shopping bag with the FAR 5 ream case of paper, will coupon for free bag affect the rewards on the case of paper?

Last week, got free earbuds (after coupon) with the free paper and rewards payout on paper got reduced due to earbud coupon.

I'm going to do that deal + recycle ink.

Forgive the newbie question, but what is the advantage of the double double since you have to spend $50 to get it?

If I'm understanding this deal correctly you would get $10 back in rewards and a premiere member can get $80 in recycling for a total of $90 in rewards. So the profit would be $90 - the $50 for the ink - tax for the ink which totals less than $40 (or $40 if theres no tax at all).

Just recycling 20 cartridges at $2 each is $40 which is more than you would get with the double double.

What am I missing?

The free ink...When you do the double double, the incremental rewards are $50 which just about covers the ink cost.

Interesting that the T&C would have $4, when the ad (at least my ad, it might vary by region) has $2 per cartridge in large print on the front page. I would guess that you would have to argue with customer service to get the $4

The ad that I'm looking at on Staples.com is showing double rewards but nothing is said about double recycling. The challenge is if you click on view more details it comes up with info on recycling but I will bet that it's wrong information again and you will not get double ink recycling.

Use caution when recycling with the purpose of getting double recycling rewards. If you are going to do it, check the details first and make sure you have it well documented and be ready to call Staples to get the recycling $$$$.

I believe that case paper is excluded in the terms of the 20% shopping bag purchase. Yeah, I also got burnt for $3.99/ea out of rewards for the FREE earbuds. Hell if I am going to pay that much for crappy earbuds that you'd find on the rack at the $0.99 store :mad:
Yeah, most people (ie; not SDers) would not fight/complain about the missing rewards. Going to chat up CSR on this today to get my missing rewards and ask for an adjustment on all of the earbuds.

I just did a chat with a Staples Rewards CSR and she said that a $30 ink purchase made today will qualify for recycling for the next 180 days. So buying the $50 HP ink next week should keep you covered for 6 months.

Yeah....and I am not gonna believe anything CS says until we get the full details in a few days. Program doesn't start till 3/15....so my guess is you will need to make your 30$ qualifying spend AFTER that date. I doubt it will be retroactive, as that would force them to look back all the way to last October.

Also don't think I am gonna chance the double/?double(maybe)...had to scramble for the full credit a week ago....just gonna recycle my (hopefully not last) 20 before the 15th and hope for the best.

Only with a manager override and since with Ebay you won't have a physical coupon it makes that harder. You can call Staples.com after making the purchase and try to get a credit for the purchase if you still meet the minimum for the kiosk amount. In any case, that item is OOS at the moment. Online only coupons have not worked in the store on store or kiosk purchases since 5/1/11 when they changed the store system to not accept them.

I was planning on buying the download version. So it seems that the ONLY situation where any coupon can be used on any kiosk purchase, is an in-store coupon on a kiosk purchase of a in-store item (Mcafee Total Protection boxed for example)?

Pretty much it. The other issue you have with calling back for a credit with an online coupon is that coupons are not allowed on downloads. Not sure how well the .com CSRs know that rule but it is one of the conditions.

It has worked but when people were abusing coupons sometime ago on downloads it would go to research and then they would ask you if you wanted to remove the coupon or cancel the order. Have not heard of that happening lately since the Chinese coupon hackers went out of business.

So assuming the $25 off online coupons will work on the website, what I'm planning to do is purchase 10x of the Kaspersky software using my brother's staples rewards number (different name, different address). However, another question arises regarding whether it's safe to use my own Ink Bold card to pay for the order (and hence my own billing address) or does that create a risk of merging accounts? Billing address is their usual avenue of blacklisting accounts IIRC for coupon abuse. They even put that in their database for guest checkouts AFAIK w/o registered staples.com accounts.

Using someone else's rewards number or rewards checks is a terrible idea, and even more so when you are doing an online purchase when you have to give your name and billing address. Like Elementary_Watson, they're watching us! :rolleyes:

Try a last time to chat and if you get nowhere, tell them they are enforcing different terms than what the ad says and that is illegal in any state. Then, mention your state AG. Companies are becoming recalcitrant and sometimes it is necessary to use that "threat".

Another thought: If I made a software kiosk order and rang it up at the register with an in-store item (like a Paypal reader), would the 20% off in-store coupon apply only to the in-store item?

All depends on if the online item is offered with the same sku in the store. If yes, then it should apply like the PayPal readers. If not then it most likely will not like downloads. McAfee TP 3 user with a different sku online has had 20% taken off via a kiosk order but that sku is OOS online right now.

Hi all, I'm a complete newbie to Staples rewards. I have $100 in rewards. From reading these threads, gather that I want to purchase items that have rebates and not rewards to cash out the $100. Is that correct? So I'm confused why some are talking about purchasing both the free after rebate and free after reward items. Is it because they are not using rewards as payment? If anyone can shed any light on how I can spend the $100, it would be greatly appreciated!

I don't want to waste a lot of people's time, so is there a thread that spells out the ink deals from before so I can figure out what is going on? I'm completely lost as to what is double double and not and HP ink vs other brand ink. I need to purchase ink, but not HP ink so I'm trying to figure out what everyone is talking about. Hi there.

First rule of cashing out your rewards into actual money is to buy FAR products since you get the money back by rebate. DONT buy free after rewards items with rewards money since it doesn't roll over, meaning you will not get any rewards back if you use rewards money to buy free after rewards.

Now about double and double double. There are these special weeks where you get double rewards for upto 5 carts if you buy HP ink which is called double. And if they also offer a percentage back as rewards on buying ink, then it becomes double double.

I actually had that happen to me in december. Used a legit coupon I received in the email on a download version, got a call from Staples that it can't be used. Person calling said they will reissue the coupon for me to use on a delivery product, never happened.

this is still happening... downloads + coupons + shipping to non tax states = fast ticket to "researching"

and can lead to other non fun things... such as blacklisting, merging.. etc

Limit 1 like almost all McAfee rebates I have seen of late. I did this product rebate in January. I am reluctant to do it more than once a quarter. Once a year if really conservative although others have repeated the offer in a calendar year w/o issues.

I did a kiosk order yesterday but left without paying as the only cashier was not one of my favorite. Can I take that print out to other Staples store today to complete the order? It does not say on the print out that it is store specific and is valid till 03/02/13, or should I just start a new Kiosk order?

As I though it should be. No way they screwed up not putting another Double and a big $4 on the front of the ad. I see they "fixed" the wording in the online ad. Too bad they can't change the print ads. Some folks will have that (and saved chats) to argue their point of getting double recycling too.

also when cashing out rewards be sure to use them with coupons, otherwise you get stuck paying the tax (unless of course you are able to pay for EVERYTHING with the rewards). Coupons help offset the tax and you sometimes make a money maker (MM).

It has been mentioned by a few SDers that it's possible to cash out rewards by ordering something online, paying with rewards (but paying a portion with your CC), and then returning or cancelling the item to staples.com (if you return in stores you should get a return coupon, which is your rewards to cash out again)... I haven't tried this method out, nor do i intend to but it's always an option (and you can confirm this with a chat rep too)

Should. Just add the code to a cart online and check if it still valid. Still need the cashier to be willing to scan it. Register should take it. Of course there could be new $5 coupons issued on Sunday for the half-cases.

I think it is hit or miss on these. Some weeks it works and other times it does not. Similar to the current Canon mx892 deal where it was discounted $50 online, but you were able to stack the additional $50 instore on top of as well. Have to wait and see if it works or not on Sunday.

They will tell you no coupon can be used on download software. They will give you an option of removing the coupon or cancelling the order. Better off cancelling the order, unless you actually want the software.

Hopefully the system takes it, my cashiers will scan it...plus I'll be buying the warranty so they'll want me to walk out the store with a chair :p

That opportunity has passed for $4 cart IMO unless you contacted Rewards before they changed the terms to what they should have been and they notated your account for $4/cart. Good luck on that even IMO in getting the $4/cart based on the last promo. This time around they fixed the terms in the weekly ad before people started buying the ink. Sometimes it is better to not call. :nod:

As usual they had a poorly proofed ad which included verbiage from old promos about $4 back for carts. Now fixed.

For people looking at keyboard/mouse combos- staples has the Logitech mk710 [staples.com] for $80 online, and there is a coupon to get an additional $20 off in stores in coupon wallet. (exp. today, but i assume you can use it tomorrow).

The best way to go about this is a do a reserve in store which gives you the online price. I'm about 99.9% sure you can use in store coupons on these w/o a manager override, but maybe EW or someone could confirm.

I assume the in store price is $99 (which drops it to $79 after the coupon, which matches the online price).

(haven't one this deal myself, but I might do it later on today)

Also, keep in mind that Staples will be funding your 5% rewards on all items by reducing the 10% back on ink and paper. They ain't that stupid.

Yes, and 16-digit unique coupons generally work 7 days past expiration.

Register eats it no problem, but some cashier just want to showoff or whatever and they refuse to take the expired coupon.

There is a coupon for the Staples MP case paper bringing the cost down to $19.99 AR. Last week's coupon for $25 is of course the better coupon. Says limit 1 per household on this new coupon but weekly ad says limit 2. Not sure why its amusing that the summary is not fully updated right away -- in the not so distance past the summary took several hours or so to update -- but the rebate form itself notes whether the rebate is an Easy Rebate -- online submission allowed -- from the get go.

If you ever wanted to see a double rebate take a look at Kaspersky AV. They had to have screwed up as one rebate extends to 3/3 and the other starts 3/3 making the software FAR only on 3/3. Wouldn't touch this one.

I sure do have a lot of planning to do for tomorrow's purchase. It's a bit complex and involves multiple transactions for these coupons. I always hate the dirty looks the cashiers give me.

But aren't the rebates good for only .com purchases since it just says on the rebate form they are good at .com.

Update: Looks like when you click on the actual form it does mention either .com or Staples store. I guess if it does print both rebates then we should be good to go.

So how does the Staples paper coupon that mentions it will $19.99 fit into this weeks paper advert where they are doing a $25 rebate on a $49.99 and we also have that $25 off case coupon as well. So presenting that coupon will take off $5 off the price so making it $44.99 price instore plus the $25 rebate.

I just tried a test kiosk order for one copy (of the 1-user), and both the customer copy and email confirmation show both rebates. Might be worth a shot. I think I'm going to go through with the test order. Combine with a case of paper + a ream (to trigger the OS), and stack with a 10/75 and expired case q. Absolute worst case is that I still make $10 on the transaction, and best case is that I make $30.

Just went on-line to "test it". When I click on boxed variations, it shows only the single rebate. The second rebate drops off.

Back from Staples. Got 2 photopapers, 2 Hammermill reams, and 2 cases of multipurpose paper. Used 10 off 75 (all I had), and 2 "expired" multipurpose coupons from last week. No problems with the order itself. With tax came to $80, with $84 in rebates, some paper rewards, and closer to premier. Hoping to sell all of this stuff too.

Based on your experiences, if I go back to the same store tomorrow or later today and do the deal again (submitting rebates for my father), will I have any issues? I was definitely noticed since there were problems with the register that made me have to be there like 20 minutes.

I only bought 1 case. Limit on the coupon is 1 so you would probably need to do it in 2 transactions for it to work. Haven't submitted the rebate yet.

I did everything in only 1 transaction. I submitted the SER and everything looks good so far, but it's still early.

Problem was unrelated to deal. Problem was signature screen went dead right when I was signing. They had to get assistant manager, wait for reboot, fish my coupons out of register, and I had to check out again. Waited in easygoing cashiers new line, but then person there had a problem too, so assistant manager took me...not something I wanted to happen. But he seemed cool. I was already a little bit jittery going in, since in errand #1CVS made me talk to fraud department for my vanilla reload card (mental note, never use discover again).

Don't believe this is true. Just scan coupon twice, or bring two of them like I did. If you want to get clever you can get 1 coupon with barcode, and one where they punch in numbers so they "look" different.

Everything went fine for my order, and since rebate is good for two, I shouldn't run into any issues.

I actually don't mind my local general store manager, because he knows that he's guaranteed anywhere from $50-$100 or more in sales. The same goes for the lead cashier. Which I know is nothing compared to their corporate account sales, but still, if the store isn't that full and considering I'm in there basically every week.... I bring steady money.

The assistant manager OTOH, one of them likes to nickel and dime me on the coupons. He says that "Rewards" are coupons and implies that you can't use rewards and staples coupon together. He's also one of those that thinks you can't get rebates back on stuff bought with rewards. He's a very large fellow and as you can imagine, generally doesn't like to check people out ever so I don't worry about him. I even saw him making up terms when a staples coupon wouldn't scan for a customer in front of me on some of their high-mark up office products.

$5 off half case (x2) worked
20% off did not work

I also spoke with the manager about the ink deal. He said to hold on to the ad (paper ad has same typo) and if there's an issue to bring it into the store and they'd 'make it right'. Still not sure that I want to go through the hassle, but if I have to buy >$30 of ink to recycle in April anyway, it might be worth it.
