For low priced items that hide the v.me option, open two carts in two windows so that the v.me option is available in one, then edit the cart with the ve.me code in the other until it has what you want. Enjoy!

anyone have benchmark speed tests for the usb 3.0 flash drive?

did you use v.me?

Anyone fill out the survey and trying out 4 1 year magazine subscriptions for $2 each? You have to cancel after a year or you will be billed again.

satanslover 03-05-2013 01:04 PM

The 8GB microSD doesn't seem to work, it hides the V.me checkout when you enter the coupon.

satanslover 03-05-2013 01:08 PM

It seems to be a minimum of 2.

DallasGG 03-05-2013 01:08 PM

I tried purchasing the 8 GB microSD card and after I enter the discount code, it doesn't let me select the V.me payment option. If I select the V.me payment option BEFORE entering the discount code, there is not option to enter the discount code later. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it to work.

If that's the case, this isn't that good of a deal.

Ignatz 03-05-2013 01:13 PM

The design of the "Patriot Memory 16GB Supersonic Xpress USB 3.0 Flash Drive" leaves a lot to be desired. When you push the drive into the usb port the drive has a tendency to retract into its housing. Annoying.

got 4 1 year magazine sub for $8 after taking the survey. Use a prepaid card so if you forget to cancel...

flashfir 03-05-2013 01:39 PM

Can you split into two orders and get $5 off each?

I might just get the $13 16GB Supersonic since it's over the faster $13 8GB Supersonic XT

If you can split I'll just get 2x 8GB Supersonics.

2x 8GB > 1x faster 8GB > 1x 16GB

2x 8GB > 1x faster 8GB > 1x 16GB

It says one per customer.

pandarisuresh 03-05-2013 01:41 PM

in 4 1...thanks

flashfir 03-05-2013 01:44 PM

Seems like the 8GB supersonic (10-5=5) doesn't allow you to pay with V.ME but any more expensive drive does. $8 for a 8GB Supersonic XT? Sure. The transfer speeds warrant the premium on these Patriot USB sticks...

STILL NOT SURE what I'm going to do though.

8GB for $8? Or 16GB for $8 but slightly lower transfer speeds?

Crescendo 03-05-2013 01:51 PM

Ordered an 8GB Supersonic! Checkout worked fine! Thanks!

flashfir 03-05-2013 02:03 PM

I read the reviews on Amazon regarding the 16gb SDHC and welll I prefer my sandisk since according to some reviews, you'll get corrupted files with patriot and I prefer to have all my pictures in excellent quality. It's cheap but one of my pictures will be worth more than $15 to me.

the item i'm referring to is : http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/p...F32GSDHC10

Yes. I did it with different card name/number but same address and it was fine, but I'm not sure if they will check later.

MoneyTree 03-05-2013 03:17 PM

Anyone get the V.me Visa checkout to work? After logging into my V.me account, upon checkout confirmation, I get bumped back to my cart. I went and logged on to V.me site to see if a transaction occured, but nothing is showing up.

Update - I changed cc# used for V.me and retried / worked. Weird that V.me didn't like the original cc i had on file, as I used that same card with V.me in Dec. O well.

I'm pretty sure V.me is just a payment option that utilizes an existing credit card. I don't think you're enrolling in any services. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The reviews for "Patriot Memory 16GB Supersonic Xpress USB 3.0" in Newegg are pretty bad if you actually go through those reviews. Pretty much the good reviews are from people that own it for a short time. You rarely seen any good reviews for people own it more than a month. And tons of reviews said it died/has problem (and/or button for retraction no longer work) after few months of use.

Yep! I have MicroSDs in my phone and camera. Really handy to be able to switch them out to view/edit/publish photos on the go :)

Don't have an actual Visa credit card, but was able to use a $10 Visa prepaid card from a rebate just fine.

landcsf 03-05-2013 04:27 PM

Perfect, thanks.

Do you need a visa credit card to use v.me ?

I created my account for the livingsocial deal last Xmas, but I thought it was open.

Wislak 03-05-2013 04:33 PM

demigodchewtoy 03-05-2013 04:42 PM

Got:
16GB class 10 micro SD for $7.99
8GB class 10 micro SD for $3.49

Had to do two separate orders. Needed to wipe browser cookies after first order and create another V.me account with other card and email (Mastercard works too you know) for the code to be valid again. Otherwise, it says the coupon can only be used once.

Thanks op!

Horribly unimpressed with that grey swivel (Axle) 16GB model -- bought it -- it sucks, bad. Is red any better?

(also still cheaper on NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...-na&cm_sp=)

Site keeps kicking me back to cart when finalizing checkout -- no error given. Weird.

I have a red 32GB one and it is actually my favorite, but I don't need to use it a whole lot, so I cannot say if it is better or not. It just always worked great for me.

I hate the retractable ones for that very reason. The axle type are so much better in that regard.

The 16GB grey is incredibly slow read and write. It seems like I remember hearing the 32 is better, but I can't guarantee that :)

The 32GB was $10 AR last summer @Tigerdirect but missed that deal, so got it this time with no rebate hassle.

Doesn't look that great. I need a good deal on a 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive. The Lexar Jump Drive 64GB USB 3.0 is $43 on Amazon. Better deal than any of these, even with the coupon. Might grab that 8GB supersonic just for fun.

Funkorama 03-05-2013 08:35 PM

anyway to circumvent the one use of the promo code? also 4gb micro sd for $.99 shipped!

iluvusorin 03-05-2013 08:35 PM

how people are geting 16 gb for $8, I am seeing $15-$5. I am sure missing something and it is time for me to go to sleep.

The Lexar is a bit flimsy. Buy the ADATA for the same price + tax

Was gonna jump on the 16GB Class 10 microSD even at $10, but after reviews on newegg -

I would run AWAY from this deal. Amazon is not all that much better, but I put more weight into newegg's reviews anyway...

The speed of the USB drive trumps any design flaws in my opinion.

8GB micro for $3.20 (tax for me) - if you share with 3 people and they click on it, you get $10, and they (or your other emails) get $5 coupon too. 16GB went up to $14.99 :(

Thanks, OP!

cool, worked for me, got a 4 GB for a dollar...

sirchaox1224 03-07-2013 11:06 AM

I bought the Patriot Memory 16GB Supersonic Xpress USB 3.0 Flash Drive for $9.99 (no tax or shipping). The reviews are solid for this one, 4/5 stars on Amazon/Newegg. Thanks OP! :whee:

candelabra 03-07-2013 11:24 AM

I completed one order and tried to start another. Separate browser. I got the following error:
- Coupon VmePatriot5 is a limited use coupon and can only be used once. Our records indicate you've used this coupon on 03-07-2013.

Any way around that or is it tied to the mailing address? Or do I need to set up another V.me account? Not sure it's worth all that if that's the case.

volatilepenguin 03-07-2013 11:37 AM

I've been out of the loop for a while. Is there any reason to pick up an SD card where the microsd is the same class? Its for use in a nex.

I get the same error. This coupon is one use per V.Me account, apparently.

I am not sure about the solid reviews part even if 4/5 stars.
The reviews for "Patriot Memory 16GB Supersonic Xpress USB 3.0" in Newegg are pretty bad if you actually go through those reviews.
For Newegg, in the reviews it also has the "Ownership" bar indicate how long the reviewers own the device (1 bar is < 1 day. 2 bars is 1 day to 1 week, 3 bars is 1 week to 1 month, 4 bars is 1 month to 1 year).
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820220611
Pretty much the good reviews are from people that own it for a short time (< one month which the "Ownership" has 1 to 3 bars). There are a lot more bad reviews compare to good one for people own it more than a month (4 bars). Tons of reviews said it died/has problem (and/or button for retraction no longer work) after few months of use.
Based on that, seems like this USB 3.0 drive work for few months, then it has a good change of problems after 6 months of use.

I would run AWAY from this deal. Amazon is not all that much better, but I put more weight into newegg's reviews anyway...

That was for the 16GB Cl4 here is the Cl10 which has even worse reviews:

Yeah, a lot of these flash drives that I looked up said it broke after a short time. This one had a decent overall review, so I went for it. If it did break for them, then they could have gone back to change their review (not sure if you can do that on Newegg, but I know you can on Amazon). I guess it's a gamble... For $10, if it works out, then sweet. ;)

Not the greatest storage manufacturers. But got the 4GB microSDHC for just 99 cents shipped! Great deal for secondary uses like in cellphones.

kizersosay28 03-07-2013 05:50 PM

Can't create a V.me account.

"We're experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later"
is the message I get. I guess Slick Deals flooded their servers with all the V.me promos..

should work the same as a sandisk micro sd card...it's just that these will probably have a higher failure rate, but the price is right (at least for the 4gb at $.99 shipped).

sonikku 03-07-2013 09:39 PM

Bought the 3$ 8GB deal. Went through fine

caranddriver 03-07-2013 09:53 PM

Picked up the 32GB USB 2.0 for $12.99. It is actually a $1 cheaper today. It'll be great to throw in my computer bag since it is very slim and lightweight. Good reviews from the limited ones I saw.

My work Dell and my Macbook Pro don't have USB 3.0 sadly so I went with form factor. The 32GB USB 3.0 one that has the rebate has some iffy reviews.

jorgito2001 03-08-2013 07:12 AM

I keep clicking the V.me option in checkout but it keeps opening a new window & cycling back to the Payment screen again & again...not sure if its my work PC that's causing the issue...just wanted to get in on the 8 GB Micro..guess I'll have to wait til later, and if I miss it, oh well. :(

beowulf7 03-08-2013 11:17 AM

The 32 GB USB 3.0 flash drive looks good (despite the MIR), but the low reviews and overall score of 3.4/5 concern me. : \
Edit: The reviews on Amazon and Newegg are even worse. I'm definitely steering clear of Patriot.

anil_robo 03-08-2013 03:54 PM

I placed an order for the 8GB micro SD card ($3) using v.me. I received an email that my order has been canceled due to a "wrong credit card number". I did not enter a credit card number at all, I used v.me. I emailed them back, they said they'll fix it. Just now I got another email that "wrong credit card number?' Never going to buy from beach camera again. Why did they advertise when they could not deliver?

tearsana 03-08-2013 05:21 PM

seems like a lot of the prices got adjusted upwards.

chudddds 03-09-2013 07:37 AM

sd micro, sweet

Quadriflax 03-10-2013 07:15 AM

I ordered both an 8GB micro sd and a 4GB micro sd. I ordered on two separate accounts and with two separate cards. I checked my statement today for the 4GB and I noticed I got charged $0.99, but then apparently that same day I was also credited $0.99, making the 4GB SD card free. The charge for the 8GB card still remains.

Did anyone else get a random credit? I'm not complaining, but I don't really understand what the heck happened here.

mikeinnj 03-11-2013 04:32 PM

Got the 16GB Patriot Class 10. It wont format, and will only read/write at 125kb/s. POS. Not even worth the hassle or returning.

I CAN guarantee it! I actually posted on Patriot's website and then came searching back to this thread (that I used to get mine). I had the 32gb version previously and love it. I even like the the retractable part which seems to irk some people (I like that when i pull it out of the port it 'trips' the switch and it auto-retracts), it feels crisp and (thus far after 2 months) sturdy.

However:

On my 32gb I have consistent, steady write speeds of around 40mb/sec and never lesss than 32-35ish.

On this 16gb I have consistent, steady write speed of 10mb/sec or less. I'm using the same port on my computer, transferring the exact same files and both are formatted exactly the same (NTFS though i tried it back at FAT32 as well) using the exact same program.

Am I missing something, or does the same model vary that wildly between 32gb and 16gb capacities?

Yeah, that's crazy -- I guess in a way it makes sense, like if the 16 just came out WAAAAY earlier and the new one has updated technology. However, you'd expect a revision numbers or 'PLUS' or something :)

So it really is something in the 16gb hardware? I ran HD-Tune on it and got the "70mb/sec" speeds that people talk about, here and in the Newegg reviews, which I imagine is what I would get if I ran it on my 32gb version, but it is sure nothing close to that in practice.

Very, very disappointing...but still open to solutions if I'm missing something. $8 isn't worth the shipping and hassle to try another one but I'd be curious if another Rev.# gives the 35-45mb/sec speeds.
