Here are our reviews:

DEVICE: New Pantech Burst Android (myself and my friends call these our $100 iPhone killers) from eBay & CL for ~$100 (TIP: to get the phones unlocked by AT&T if you don't buy one unlocked, call them and tell them you bought it from a friend and are headed to Europe and you need the code, but you're going to activate with AT&T as soon as you return. Have unlocked FIVE devices this way on the first try!)

PROs:
Nice screen.
Easy, free upgrade to ICS.
Good build quality, weight, and feel (love mine with the $20 Otterbox Commuter Case from Amazon, too).
Dual Core 1.5
16g onboard, can accept up to 32gb microSD
Works great making GrooVe IP (with Google Voice) calls on a good WiFi connection--you won't need a MagicJack, Ooma or other devices at home, just use your Pantech Burst for no minutes off your calling plan.

CONs:
Poor battery life, so you'll need to turn off stuff you're not using (BT, WiFi, brightness, and so forth)
Speakerphone is almost impossible to use because of echo for the person on the other end (your end of the conversation will sound great)

If you have other questions, please post for all to see and I'll respond on this forum.

BTW, I've ALWAYS had CDMA service (Sprint or Verizon) and this is my first foray into GSM. So far I like it. Reasons:
- easier to root/unlock phones
- more compatibility with the rest of the tech world

PLANS: $30 T-Mobile prepaid, PlatinumTel prepaid, or whatever. Listen to Clark Howard school his radio audience about how lame any plan with a contract is and how foolish it is to tie yourself up with, given what's coming in the way of options, and coming FAST.

ICS: AT&T plans to update this for Icecream sandwich (march 2012): http://allthingsd.com/20120322/at...id-phones/ (In the coming months, AT&T said it will also update 10 other phones and tablets, including the LG Nitro, two versions of the Motorola Atrix, Pantech’s Burst) (another article, which lists the phones to be updated: http://www.phonedog.com/2012/03/2...ng-months/ - also from March) - see attached screenshot of FB post

On Facebook on Sept 10, Pantech said "update will be coming soon". (Sep 27 is the date it will happen)

- David Buco, 9/26, 11pm central time, pantech facebook post: I talked to a rep at PantechUSA over the phone. He said that a separate app will need to be downloaded from their site - plug in the phone to the computer, start the app and update should commence.

Rooting :

Easy way to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/a...1347882351

- Turn on USB debugging before running the bat file.
- Just extract that file and run RunMe.bat. Choose option 4. Let it boot 2 times as it goes. Quit from the PC command window after it boots up and is ready.
- Then update Superuser app, and choose Root in its preferences.
- Then get Super Manager free from App store, give it root permission (settings) and now you can remove stuff.

it gets pretty good reviews at $100. It has been recommended by many SDers in the past. I'd buy one if I didn't already have a SGS3

SGS3, one phone, to rule them all. :worship:

(until the SGS4 comes along, of course)

By the way, if this were about $20-$25 cheaper, I'd buy a few for eBay / resale as they go for $120-$140 in new and unlocked condition.

Cirrus 03-06-2013 04:38 PM

I have one that I gave to my mom after I upgraded but it's actually 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S3 cores and you can't overclock it any more than that. Pretty fast phone in general though some issues with storing things on the SD card because of the skin and Google Music flips out and tries to store all the cached songs on the main app partition and uses up all your space, oh and Google Voice integration is totally broken in the dialer (voicemails crash the dialer, you see the calls as going to the google voice # in the logs, etc.) It's a good phone for the money no doubt but definitely not high end and the camera is plainly terrible.

Like most AT&T phones, it only gets 3G on PCS (1900), so you can only get that on T-mobile if you are in one of their re-farmed areas. Check airportal.de for a map of those reported refarmed areas.

I switched to android sg3 from iphone and it was a great regret. If you're thinking of doing it, stick with a jailbroken iphone. The 'freedom' they say android phones have is a joke. Yeah, there's great freedom for developers, but none for the user. I could customize and tweak the iphone to exactly how I wanted it, but with android you're forced with the decisions the dev's decide upon with their own roms.

Best smartphone out there for about $100...

Ok, I've purchased six of these over the past few months for myself, family, and friends. I'm our unofficial IT cellphone guy, so I know these phones very well.

Here are our reviews:

DEVICE: New Pantech Burst Android (myself and my friends call these our $100 iPhone killers) from eBay & CL for ~$100 (TIP: to get the phones unlocked by AT&T if you don't buy one unlocked, call them and tell them you bought it from a friend and are headed to Europe and you need the code, but you're going to activate with AT&T as soon as you return. player911 03-06-2013 08:16 PM

Meh. It's ok as a phone goes. Probably cheaper then a 2yr contract and $99 for a cheap flip phone.

Low resolution, low Amoled screen. This is basically similar to the Nexus S... even looks the same kinda.

tinobob 03-06-2013 08:17 PM

I bought one of these (in used very good condition) from this same seller about 5 months back. Pretty sure it was and still is the best value Android ICS phone out there. Been very happy with the phone.

cnet calls this phone one of the 9 best new devices for 2012

Parachute07 03-06-2013 08:48 PM

104.99 now?

sparksoni 03-06-2013 09:10 PM

I have this phone. It has treated me well so far for the last 6mo. Right now I have it on the Straight Talk unlimited plan and I get 4g speeds, and almost always have a signal. I tried T-mobile and it wasn't good. I had maybe E or 1G speeds at best. T-mobile uses different frequencies than what this phone does for their high end speeds. I have a lot of music and a couple movies on it. The battery lasts almost all day if I'm just listening to music. If I use firefox or watch videos it drains the battery about like most phones. I would almost say that this would be a decent buy as just an mp3 player and wifi cruiser even if you don't want it as a phone.

SuperLlamaS7 03-06-2013 09:15 PM

Mine is super slow and buggy. Always crashes, I would avoid this phone for anything more than $20 aa a backup or burner for foreign travel.

ElGato01 03-06-2013 09:19 PM

This may sound odd, but how is the audio quality on these? Is anyone using theirs as an ipod and a phone?

EG

Sorry, my Note 2 is better than my GS3, imo. I love the bigger screen. And I only paid $37 for my Note 2 (before anyone asks, yes, on contract, and yes, i realize on contract and no contract pricing is not comparable)

anyway, this phone seems like a decent deal for a lower end android.

this way you can charge the phone and surf

sfo_giants 03-06-2013 10:19 PM

bought this as a backup phone, rooted and running Gizmolord ROM, even better than most $400 dollar phones I would say. The ROM is pretty stable and the battery is better than or equal to my S3 I would say. I have sold my S3 now.

I'm not the person you quoted, but I paid a similar price as him when I bought mine from T-Mobile during the black friday deal. I believe it was a $300 rebate, and when I ordered it on the phone via customer care, the rep gave me a one-time usage credit for being a loyal customer (~$175).

However, I did need to upgrade to the 'unlimited' plan for one month, but right after I got the rebate card I changed back down to my standard cheap-o plan.

IIRC it ended up being ~$50 after taxes and rebates and credits.

Excellent phone for the price. Check out our previous deal thread. Has lots of information:

gtd2000 03-07-2013 12:11 AM

I got in on this deal first time around last year - fantastic bang for the buck at that point in time for sure

Battery life does suck indeed - charging it up 2 to 3 times a day is the norm...

Sometimes there is a problem with the phone charging - it will eventually charge but it can be a nuisance.

Performance is great - very snappy indeed.

Speakerphone is essentially useless - I think this is a problem caused by the microphone - I can't use audio recordings of anything - it's simply not clear and completely hopeless. I have other cheap phones that record very well as a dictaphone.

I get 8m download speed using AT&T with Straighttalk and shows 4G on the display.

Build quality is very acceptable - an iPhone looks pretty clunky by comparison in my opinion.

You can do Skype video calls via WiFi pretty clearly but quality was not great with mobile network in my case.

By yourself a cheap headset and this is a very decent smartphone apart from the battery life...

kit10dog 03-07-2013 12:57 AM

I have it too, and I love it. I don't feel like 4" is small by any means, homescreen is well done and everything fits great, good for book reading, video and other staff. I have not encountered any problems with it at all. Easily unlocked, rooted, upgraded to ICS, killed some ATT staff on it to make it even faster. I love screen, cameras, storage size and SPEED. The only downside for me - 4 buttons on the bottom are not always responsive, sometimes you have to press button several times to register touch. But it's not that big of a problem most of the times. For $100 it's the best ever I have seen, for a new phone. I have purchased a few more to resell

No, there's no way to block it. That is how AT&T identifies smart phones and nails people with a data plan. There are reports on the internet that if you're using a phone that AT&T doesn't officially support, then they can't force a data plan (for instance, T-Mobil specific phone). But I have yet to test such theory. Others have and claimed success.

kaukauls 03-07-2013 02:14 AM

I bought the red burst from them last year. It's a good phone for the price. Everything looks new. There were no scratches or blemishes, but when I went to AT&T to get a new sim card, the guy said it was a display model. He couldn't tell if it was a demo or strictly display. It was actually a replacement phone because the first one had a vibrator issue. The store was really good with the exchange. They sent out the replacement and return shipping label pretty quick. So they have good customer service, but I don't think their description of NEW is accurate.

BestDealer83 03-07-2013 04:24 AM

And since the first thread that was created months ago and until now in this new thread - no one can confirm if this thing has already been upgraded to ICS OFFICIALLY without rooting.

Just because you are lazy to learn by yourself you are blaming the devs ? Most of the devs on xda learned by their own and they just share their work. Its your choice to use their work or not. There are plenty of guides to learn to mod your android phones. Jail breaking an iphone is joke.

+1..Just one of the many reasons why I dumped them.

I am loving my T-Mobile Value Plans. Yes, IT IS a commitment (contract), but since I am using it for family (3 lines), and only one needs data ($10 for unlimited DATA, upto 2GB full speed then throttle) - it makes perfect sense for me.

Only thing I liked about ATT was their coverage. T-Mobile has "some" coverage issues, but we still have above average coverage..

I want to get one of these with the proposed T-Mobile spectrum reframe but I am waiting to see if a next-gen nexus 4 is released with the new Qualcom LTE chip. At this point if I find one cheap on CL i'd pick it up.

Correct. I bought it at best buy, pm to sams club 98.88. Best buy also had a $50 gc promo. Somehow they messed up the pm and gave me a little more. I told them about it, and they just shrugged me off.

michi098 03-07-2013 04:53 AM

Seeing this is a quad band, it should work fine in other countries, correct?

I'm somewhat tempted, but there do seem to be a lot of compromises. Debating between this and getting a Blu phone for a $100 more.

kit10dog 03-07-2013 05:02 AM

It has ICS

It has been upgraded to ICS officially already, you just have to do it manually through Pantech

lllGurulll 03-07-2013 05:11 AM

Read tons of reviews on this and decided to go for it. Hopefully I don't run into the band charger problem some have had with it.

I purchased the red one though from the same seller and will use it as a Gophone. May try the Airvoice Wireless $10 per month plan since I don't talk a lot anyway. Been looking for something that was cheap and buried my Pantech Crossover. This does that VERY effectively. heh

well it won't work on non-reframed t-mobile. LTE chip won't be much use since LTE is basically all over the place as far as frequencies go. I am considering a used one of these because it looks like it is going to take forever for my exhibit to get an unlock code (damn t-mobile). If you are going to go out of the country a pentaband phone like the blu is definitely the way to go if you plan on doing more than just talking.

Thanks, I am overseas several times a month. Using a crappy Nokia E75 with no data right now. Have been tempted for a while to get a smart phone and some limited data over there. I think you're right, the Blu will probably be the better option for me.

Damn I purchased just in time then. Went up just a few minutes after I bought it. Either that or they increase the price base on how many are currently sold.

Wvga (800x480).not bad, considering the phones price point

BestDealer83 03-07-2013 05:52 AM

Once this will be $89 - ill bite, these last minute mark ups are annoying - so fuk em.

jdawgman05 03-07-2013 07:02 AM

likely dumb question here - I have no interest in the phone capabilities for the time being, though eventually would like to set it up for international use (when I travel occasionally).

Have wanted to get away from Apple ipod touch for music, occasional pictures more so due to the higher price for those products (lower resolution unless I pay more).

So, ST use for music/photos, how does it fare?

And, can I use it for wifi only without setting up a contract on any provider?

moelsen8 03-07-2013 07:41 AM

yeah i went back and forth on impulse buying this, would probably make a nice little backup phone/pmp. but the price has jumped up twice now. F em.

She was using a fliphone before and doesnt use google voice or google music or the camera so none of this phone's weaknesses matter yo her, quit being a drama queen.. she doesn't even use a data plan since she thinks its a waste of time to surf the internet on hour phone when out and about.. she just likes using it to text and get gmail at home and make wifi calls with talkatone which it works great for..

Turn off GPS unless you're using it and battery life is very good

You do get used to it - mine appears to run out of power faster than the one I bought for my GF.

I have a charger in the office at my desk, one in the car and one at home, so I'm seldom without charging options.

It might simply be that my battery is at the bottom end of the scale compared to others.

I suppose it's not that big a deal to buy a spare battery or two on eBay if you are out and about for the whole day.

My GF is saving about $35 per month since getting this phone and using Straighttalk Unlimited compared to her "limited" plan with Verizion and a "free" phone.

Compared to my old Samsung Galaxy Apollo - battery life is horrendous - it only needed charging up once per day (at night) and was used most of the day.

Looking at the battery use on the Pantech today here is the breakdown of power use:
Bluetooth = 23%
Cell Standby = 23%
Phone Idle = 22%
Maps = 10%
Gallery 6%
Camera 6%
Etc..

I've not actually used it, apart from going to the settings so far :look:

I'm not sure why you would say you can't customise an Android device - I used to do that in the early days of android but now I just use the standard layouts as they "just work".

I've never had an iPhone, so really don't see what the major differences are other than cost..?

I can take and make phone calls..
I can watch videos
I can surf the net
I can download files
I can video conference
I can do OBD testing of my car via BT
...etc., etc..what am I missing out on with an Android device?

dpham00 03-07-2013 08:38 AM

Verizon is typically more expensive. I pay just under $45 (including taxes and discount) for my share of the family share plan on Verizon which includes unlimited unthrottled 4glte. I have limited minutes, but never come close to it, and use Google voice for texts.

This post clearly states it's UNLOCKED in the OP. If you buy one that's not unlocked, call AT&T and explain that you got the phone from a friend or relative and want to activate it on their network, but you're headed to Europe first and need to unlock it. Be cordial and positive.

All 6 of the Bursts I've purchased on craigslist or ebay were unlocked using the "European Vacation" method on the first try.

I tried this phone a few months ago on Straighttalk service with both Gingerbread and ICS. At times, it ran very smooth and pretty fast. But almost always, it would eventually bog down and I would have to shut down apps right and left. Also, the battery life was hit and miss depended on settings.
Overall the experience was frustrating in that I loved it when it worked, but it did not work for me enough of the time. I got my money back by reselling on fleabay so no real loss.

right now I am using my wife's old iPhone 3GS, unlocked much more satisfied.

I agree, how can an unlocked branded phone be new?

I did read that if you could turn off the 4G the battery life would improve but with the standard phone there doesn't seem to be an option to drop down to 3G or suchlike?

Not experiencing this, after all, no phone is perfect--but I do think this is a great value for dollar. Having said that, most of your issues sound software/app related, which isn't necessarily the phone's problem.

that's the thing...i have used over 60gb a month before, no sweat on Verizon, plus Verizon does have the best total network coverage. But of course, you are paying a premium for Verizon. Luckily for me, i use little minutes and no texting, so pricewise, Verizon isn't really costing me much more than other plans, since other carrier's unlimited plans include unlimited talk and text, which I have no real use for. But for cases of high talk and text usage with lots of data, I could see how it could be quite costly on Verizon.

Well to be objective you do have a legitimate concern there...

I'd say in 99% of cases it's perfectly OK to Good.

There's sometimes a situation where the call quality is fairly unclear but I'm not sure if this is something to do with call signal strength.

That's only ever been while chatting with my GF (with the same phone) and she, or I, have been in a low signal strength area.

gtd2000 03-13-2013 07:48 AM

I've also recently noticed that BT transfer of photos on my Win7 laptop doesn't work - works perfectly on my company XP laptop.

Seems to be a driver issue that I've not had any luck in resolving.

I just use a cable as a work around...

A few notes after testing this exact phone (a few of them, actually) on PTel Mobile:

PTel, in conjunction with Google Voice has a few minor issues:
-call quality is acceptable, but not great... getting volume right seems to affect voice, touchy
-When calling over WiFi with GrooVeIP, the calls are fantastic, but when you call another person, a bug causes your Pantech Burst to automatically switch to "speaker mode." Just quickly click the speaker icon twice to turn it off--annoying but not the end of the world. Contact http://www.snrblabs.com/ to report this bug (the more, the better).
-The speakerphone is horrible FOR THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END and they will experience echo. Fix anyone?
-Feedback that the camera sucks is greatly overexaggerated, imho, seems to work fine for a 5mp phone camera.

I'm looking for similar feedback about using this phone on the $30 T-Mobile unlimited data plan (100 voice mins., unlimited text, unlimited data w/1st 5g at 4g LTE where available).

Get your free microSIM here:
http://slickdeals.net/f/5905524-F...gn=tu-9999

Then order the plan here:
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.co...y-4g-plans (scroll down to the $30/mo. plan)

I missed the 100.00 price point and wanted to buy 3 so I've been holding off and checking back periodically on the ebay page to see when it will drop again. Usually it says "Limited Quantity available" but yesterday there was a time when it said 9,500 or so available. Oops. They've got a LOT of them still so it WILL drop again, probably sooner rather than later after they get the first big batch of orders shipped out.

This is definitely true - the speaker phone is a complete waste of time if you are any distance away from the phone - you need to put the mic to your mouth when you speak.

Recording audio with this phone is also a complete and utter waste of time...

I still think for the money... it's hard to beat.

Thanks I didn't realize I was using PTel network. I am on my in-laws t-mobile phone plan which has unlimited calling, texts, and 2Gb of 4g per month and after that unlimited 2g. They added us to their line. I am such a cell phone newbie. I just don't want to spend $115 and then find it doesn't work.

Strikercyb 03-15-2013 11:30 PM

are you all receiving new phones? both of my phones came but 1 with some scratches around the charging port and the other with a slightly dirty inside label (under the battery). The boxes look strange with green round stickers on them (1 on each marked "OK"). Seemed used/refurbished to me.

prankies 03-16-2013 11:24 AM

Seems like a great deal on a pretty beefy budget smartphone. This and the LG Optimus L9 have very solid specs for the money.

LG Optimus L9 wins on screen, battery life, and GPU. Pantech Burst on internal storage and CPU clock speed (though the CPUs are closer than they appear, since the Burst's Snapdragon 3 CPU needs higher clock speed to get the same performance as the L9's Cortex A9 CPU).

Both apparently have problems with the stock ROMs in a number of areas. The folks over at XDA have solved many of them.

I got my fiance an L9 several months ago, but at this price I may have been tempted to get her the Burst instead. For her usage/needs, the savings probably would have been worth it.

If you are willing to put some time into fixing the phone's quirks, this may even be a great budget/backup phone for a power user.

mine came in same condition, unsealed box, with some stickers, although cable and charger were in sealed up plastic. the cardboard box almost looked like it was a copy or reprint. phone was in great condition on the outside, but after a while i saw that it had pretty noticeable screen burn-in.. on any white or light screen i could see a big bright circle near the center of the screen, as well as what look like horizontal bars below it. i couldn't unsee it after a while, so i've sent it back for an exchange. i kind of knew full well that we wouldn't be getting sealed up boxes straight from the factory when ordering "new" phones on ebay for $100, but for the price i paid, i was pretty happy with the phone otherwise. i'm sure they're all used to some degree.. i think someone on here said they were told that they might be display phones or something (which could explain the burn-in). you have to also expect they'd have to open each and turn them on so they could unlock them (i highly doubt you can buy new and sealed carrier-branded phones unlocked). come to think of it, mine had already been upgraded to ICS already, which is a manual upgrade... that kind of ticks me off now thinking about it..

fyi, anyone wanting to stay unlocked don't revert the software to gingerbread. it'll ask you to put in the sim unlock code again, which isn't provided. the seller did seem willing to help me out here (and i did revert mostly just to test this, in addition to making sure the phone was completely wiped clean and back in stock form).

They've got a LOT of them still so it WILL drop again, probably sooner rather than later after they get the first big batch of orders shipped out.

Yeah, I just checked and it says 9,078 available

Hmmm, I have had a few issues with mine rebooting on its own for no reason. I have also noticed that it slows down quite a bit when I multitask a music app with a GPS app. Anybody else having issues like this?

It is almost as if it is only utilizing one core rather than both.

What case you guys are using for this phone?

healthylaugh 03-20-2013 10:06 PM

Otterbox Commuter

Other than increasing the echo in speakerphone mode, I LOVE this case.

The feel, weight, and quality of the Otterbox Commuter just has that "expensive/secure" aesthetic.

I've seen them for $20 for the gray model on Amazon (best I see now is $25):

The case looks great. But wow, it's like 25% of the phone cost! :)

Thanks for suggesting this option, repped. No doubt the case is pretty good, but I am cheap and will hunt for a cheaper option!

ebay has lots of options for cases...

I hear you. I just love the "feel" of this case...

A friend has a simple silicone soft cover (without the harder plastic shield) and she likes it. I think it was ~$5 on ebay. Here are a bunch of results (check ratings when possible):

Has anyone else had problems with the phone getting bogged down in memory and having to reboot it quite a bit? Wondering if I got a bad unit.

cyclops13 03-22-2013 05:40 PM

Received mine today, similar observations as others. No way this is a brand new phone!

The box was not sealed, looks flimsy and there is a small deep scratch around the charging port and a bit bigger light scratch towards the bottom on back cover and the frame!

What are you guys doing about it? Any luck taking this up with the seller?

Seller seems pretty concerned about keeping their 5-star rating and willing to work with you to make sure it stays that way. They respond to emails with such forced niceness that it's almost annoying to read (and I'm pretty sure it's mostly scripted too). I'm sure they'd refund you if you return it and pay the return shipping.. unless you can get them to pay it. I sent mine out for an exchange because of the burn-in on the screen. I didn't try to get them to send me a prepaid label or anything, but if I experience the same on the next one I get, I definitely will be then.

FYI - I just installed the new CM10 on mine and it functions wonderfully!!!! No slowdown at all. Evidently the stock firmware with root was the problem.

Hurry! Only 8,819 of them are left!! ;)

How to root this phone and install CM10??

Can anyone please provide the easy-to-follow steps to root and install CM10 specifically on the Pantech Burst here in this thread, or perhaps some helpful links with the same info?

I poked around online and got a little intimidated with the results.

TIA

Not going to make any promises here but I will try and put something together for you in this thread. Give me a few days though.

I just ordered mine on ebay, so I would be interested in the instructions as well.

Also, you said rooting messed your phone up. So do you recommend not rooting?

I misspoke. Rooting didn't mess up my phone. Rooting and keeping the stock OS messed it up. Once I upgraded to Jelly Bean with CM10 all the problems went away.

healthylaugh 04-04-2013 11:23 PM

Rooted! but now what??

Ok, I successfully rooted my Pantech Burst using this youTube tutorial:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLEvsG0ECF4

Just follow the directions, he's really good about taking his time and explaining step-by-step.

NOTE: I did get the <waiting for device> message after getting into "fastboot boot prestoroot.img" at the command prompt... DON'T PANIC, just go back to the device manager and find the "Pantech Android ADB Interface Ver1" file (should be there if you properly installed the Pantech PC Suite). Just make sure you click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer," because I kept missing that and got frustrated.

Now that it's rooted...

Can someone please provide a clear path to what to do next?

I want to install Jelly Bean, as lllGurulll suggested, so that would be great if you could steer us in the proper direction, because as you mentioned, I'm still stuck with the ICS upgrade.

Also, instruction on how to install CM10 would be much appreciated.

TIA

I just got my phone on Saturday ($80 used on ebay from phonestoreusa). I loved it until I noticed a big blue circle burned into the screen. Good to know that I can exchange, which I will do ASAP. The phone was flawless except for swirl scratches in the upper right part of the phone where it had been physically tethered. These are definitely display models.

UPDATE: Just got my replacement phone yesterday. No screen burn in :) phonestoreusa has great customer service; don't be afraid to buy from them and don't be afraid to get the $80 phone in great condition. I did a full night's charge. Now let's see how it performs today.

I just rooted as well.

Next would be install clockwork recovery mod (register for gizmolord):
http://forum.gizmolord.com/androi...ech-burst/

Then install CM10 (jelly bean):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...?t=2128303

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE :::

-First of all , If In case Any loss happened Neither the Dev team or me is responsible for that . Though Nothing should happen 99.9% .
-Boot into CWM Recovery . Either 5.x or 6.x ( by Attn1 one [Preferred]) . Everything will be safe . Don't believe in any myths of cwm 6.x is dangerous and all . For reference -> These recoveries are one my self tested .
-Clear Wipe Data / Factory reset and clear dalvik cache from advance menu .
-Install from SD/EXT-Sd ( Where you put simply select that one)
-Choose zip and confirm action .
-Reboot .

Since CM10 is still under development, I will wait to try to install.

FYI, to anyone who gets this phone, get screen protectors before you start using it. After two days of light use and carrying in an empty pocket, my screen is already showing scratches.

I can't say that I agree with that statement in my experience.

I've been using mine since around October without a screen protector and there isn't a single solitary scratch on the screen....

It's in my jeans pockets most of the time but I always make sure there are no keys or coins to scratch the screen.

They added us to their line. I am such a cell phone newbie. I just don't want to spend $115 and then find it doesn't work.

Was anyone able to try this on T-Mobile? I'm contemplating picking up two for my wife and myself. Just looking for some feedback.

The LTE part of this phone works in Tmobile if your area has it, confirmed myself and by HoFo forums, 12-24mbps easy, it's not in many cities yet. 3G/4G/WCDMA/HSPA+ depends on whether or not T-mobile has refarmed 1900 frequency in your area. If your city is refarmed, you'll see 3g/4g speeds on 1900mhz, check out this user reports website: airportal.de to see if it is in your area. If your city has neither LTE nor refarmed 1900, then it's only EDGE for you.

fwiw, i got the "great condition" one from this seller, sent me one that looks like it was dragged behind a car, seller said it was normal to have one or two blemishes. I did not consider that 2 blemishes, so I returned it and ordered a new one from another seller for 120$. still waiting for the refund, and still waiting for the other seller. such is the slickdeals hunt, sometimes you luck out, sometimes, well, lemon is putting it mildly.

I'm using the phone on a Tmobile MVNO no problem. If you want to use data, absolutely make sure the places you want to use it are refarmed as atlaswing said. EDGE speed will drive you crazy. My house is in a refarmed area, but my office isn't, which is exactly the opposite of what I want :(

That sucks. The second 'great condition' one I got had paint chips around the bezel, but the screen and back cover were flawless.

Is this a good price for a new one ? $119.99 + Free shipping.

I was looking for a good Android, unlocked phone with 3" to 4" screen, don't care about LTE ? Any suggestions would be great. Price up to $120.

Yes, that is the best price right now, and most of us have ordered from that store.

LG L9 was a good deal at $180, but I think that's over.
