This is the same tv they had for $1499 on Black Friday. Noticed it went down another $100 since Saturday.

HemanC 03-12-2013 11:30 PM

Add in the shipping cost, it's about the same price as TigerDirect. Tax free for some in TD.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applic...No=7370296

Costco has way better warrenty and return policy though.

mitchflorida 03-13-2013 05:09 AM

Best Buy and Amazon have matched the $1598 price, free shipping.

Got this on BF. Very nice I think, but blacks were not as good as my mitsu 73" DLP. Bring I was able to sell the DLP at the same price I paid BF a year earlier, I sold it. Still happy with the Vizio 70.

HemanC 03-13-2013 08:41 AM

My dad does, our family is using a 55" right now. The CC are hard to see if he leans back on the couch to get comfy. I am thinking a 70" or up could help but 80" are a grand more than the 70".

I don't have any experiance with Vizio. How's it compare to the Sharp?

I can't believe people would spend this much money for a tv and then get a vizio.

vizio = pos

I think the only other choice for brand in this size is a Sharp Aquos and I would definitely rather have that.

mitchflorida 03-13-2013 12:33 PM

This Vizio has gotten good marks, better than the Sharp.

Does anybody know if I can buy Squaretrade warranty for 3 years if I bought TV from Paul'sTV.com?

mitchflorida 03-13-2013 01:35 PM

sure, if you bought it new less than 30 days ago.

Generalizing Vizio as a POS brand is probably accurate since they have more POS sets than not, but they have had some exceptional sets. For instance as a bedroom TV I have one of their last sets to feature full array / local dimming, the XVT473SV, and the picture is superior to any of these edge lit POS TVs available today. Which is why I'm waiting for the Sony XBR65HX950 to drop in price to replace my 6 year old Mitsubishi DLP.

UtZ 03-13-2013 05:00 PM

Got this deal on BF and the picture quality is awesome with my 360 and media player.

leafsfan 03-13-2013 05:07 PM

Amazon Prime members - additional $30 off with code PRIMETHR + free delivery (and in most locations, no tax).

Too bad my place isn't really big enough to have a 70" TV.

You sir, are wrong, hahaha. I love Vizio, never had a problem. Yes, not quite as good as a Samsung or Panny, but damn close. Absolute best of the "bargain" brand, if you'd even call them that. No, they dont manufacture their own panels like Sharp, but they have such a good product either way, and keep their prices low!

burticus 03-13-2013 06:29 PM

I would consider a Vizio for a smaller tv (bedroom use) I guess. But if I'm buying a 70" monster, nah.

mitchflorida 03-13-2013 07:39 PM

I got strictly by the reviews and everyone says Vizio 70" is better than Sharp . . and cheaper.

I bought a mitsu 73 inch anyway . half the price

iwilltake2 03-13-2013 07:52 PM

I hope this is a nice set. My husbands job gave one away a few days ago and the guy that won sold it to my hubby for $1000. I pick it up tomorrow.

TXGoat 03-13-2013 08:02 PM

My father picked one a few weeks ago and has some trouble with the sound. https://vizio.custhelp.com/app/an...h-my-tv%3F He came from a Mitsubishi DLP that everyone seems to be suckered into buying. The DLP was a big steaming POS so even if this Vizio has some problems, I doubt it will be as problematic as the Mitsu.....

usacamaro 03-13-2013 08:14 PM

Sharp is not that great. I had 2 60" with screen issues. I just settled

hard to say, but I know that the quad-hd displays are going to give screens of this size a run for their money.

1080P on 70" ---- i don't know if I'd want to invest that much into such a display.

If you're going to do 70" or more, do it right and pay the necessary money. I do know there's no way in hell I'd ever spend $4400 for an 80" + Sharp or whatever size it was that's at Costco now.

My father went to Costco to see if they would refund him the difference in purchase price he paid for this TV a few weeks ago. They wouldn't, so now we have to pack this TV back in the box and return it as well as cancel our Costco cards. Granted, we were thinking of returning the TV anyways because the sound goes out and sometimes the Closed Captions turn on by themselves. So much for good quality and good customer service.

No, I'm saying it's only been about 2 weeks since he bought his TV and they wouldn't refund the difference at the Costco we bought it from. What's also sad is the TV was on sale just a few days before he bought it and they said they wouldn't sell it to him for the price it was a few days before he was ready to buy. Reading some of the Costco customer service reviews, I sure hope you're an exception based on what I'm reading.

I'm sorry, but if you miss a sale, you miss a sale. I never knew stores had to honor a promotion even after it had ended.

Hey funny guy, he was responding to someone who is questioning the quality of Vizio TVs, so his comment was in the context of the conversation, your comment however is both unfunny and pointless.

Ryvin1 03-15-2013 10:50 AM

Bought this TV BF and I think it's a great TV, the picture is really nice. I checked the rating before I bought it and this model got great reviews and they are well deserved. I think it's a slick deal when I got it, those that are crapping on this because of the brand without looking into it are missing out. Most of those that have seen mine were impressed and some shocked when they saw the brand based on how nice the picture was. I've been really happy with it so wanted to add my experience of owning it for the last 4 months.

Sure, and as a consumer then you're within your rights to return the TV within the return period for a FULL REFUND.

LOL! His opinion about his tv is just as pointless as my father in law's about my 27" tube tv. Since I need to spell it out for you, vizio is a budget tv, that is no doubt more prone to failure than a more reputable brand such as sharp. Any company can have issues with their products, but budget tvs will no doubt have more issues than their higher end competitors.

I dont know though, how long will it be until tv is broadcast in 4k? I didnt even think the vast majority were broadcasting in 1080p?

Also, if one's couch is roughly 25' from the tv, is the increased resolution actually noticeable?

Sorry for all the questions, im not extremely knowledgeable in this area.

Brooklynite 03-17-2013 03:38 PM

Vizio or Sharp, thats the question.

Do you know who makes the LCD panel? Vizio doesnt make anything, its just a brand. Not too many guys out there make 70 and above mass production, Sharp is one of the only ones.
This TV comes in FILM mode as default just like the Sharp (which makes feature movies look like home recordings) so I am guessing this may actually have a Sharp panel with Vizio adding the smartTV apps.

hahahaha, no, its just the family room really, it got i think a 7'-8' extension from the builders original plans and it is by far the largest room in the house.

Highagain420 03-17-2013 05:36 PM

Sams Club is $1548 too. Instore and fs online.

Debating whether to buy the 70" or this 65" for $1588

http://www.samsclub.com/sams/vizi...navAction=

http://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-6...V/21311920

Guessing it comes down to features vs size. Will be using this in bedroom to give my short throw projector (Optoma GT750E) a break. Would the 240hz + 3D on the smaller screen be worth the 5" size difference?
