how different from the Sapphire cardhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6814102882
The product detail is same word for word, the price is same AR, both are none-gaming card, but for real, which one is better?

They are essentially the same card produced by different board manufacturers, the performance should be virtually identical.

thanks. That is what I had in mind. maybe the difference would be the manufacture service (if there is any), and of course brand.

Can play 3D movies on HTPC?

The_Doug 03-16-2013 06:28 AM

I don't see how this is a good deal. It's comparable to modern integrated graphics.

For those whose boards don't have integrated graphics, or whose integrated graphics has crapped out, or who requires dual video outputs, this is a good deal.

in short, no.

the HD5450 is somewhat equivalent to the SandyBridge HD3000, thus, the ivy HD 4000 would be better than the radeon hd 5450.

but imo, for streaming hd video, you probably can't tell the difference. gl

Thanks guys!

These were $7ar last year

price is going in the wrong direction - and time for $10 6450 deals

wirelessfreak 03-16-2013 09:31 AM

Would this fit in a hp proliant n40l? I wanna make it an HTPC

I remember that xx50 cards are mini cards (I think).
But it seems that this micro server is not upgrade friendly.

TIA

I distinctly remember you saying this before too, "price is going in the wrong direction" - seems like a favorite saying of yours (not knocking on you, just an observation hehe)

It's true though.

And for the purposes of this card (aka non-gaming), I went with instead the $9.99 AR 5450 512 MB a few weeks ago link. Pretty much no difference to my HTPC use, really just needed it for the HDMI port. Can also dual-display.

If you need a card right now, you can get this. If you want to spend as little money as possible to get the non-gaming capabilities you need, the 5450 512 MB dips to $10 occasionally.

no fan, excellent!

gaughan333 03-16-2013 10:33 AM

i use this on my htpc, it streams 1080 well. The lack of fan is also really nice. And to answer the earlier questions, i use it because my board didn't have hdmi

DrGroove 03-16-2013 03:47 PM

This is a really old/weak card, you can a current generation card for not much more.

edit: For example, there's a $20 zotac GT 610 on newegg that is more powerful

krazyatom 03-16-2013 04:22 PM

supports eyefinity and crossfire? nice
