It was a price mistake. Was supposed to be only with a camera purchase. Likely these will get canceled.

travfar 03-18-2013 10:32 AM

After I got the OOS message, I added again and got it. Would have gotten 5 but I didn't want to miss out getting at least one. Now when trying to buy more it's OOS again.

examante 03-18-2013 11:10 AM

Order canceled.

Which sucks since I lost my rig a few months ago and didn't have enough money for a decent lens after a new body and plane tickets. I leave in 2 weeks for Costa Rica with a old photography teacher of mine who invited me to go with her on her National Geographic shoot

Anybody know of any other deals, even if they aren't this good?

You can also rent equipment for reasonable prices.

primetime2113 03-18-2013 11:13 AM

Yeah, you're generally not allowed to take it out of the country. On top of that I'd need it for almost 2 weeks and my only cc is a discover and practically full from other gear.

I may still try it though

I don't really want to ask after already being so generous taking me and paying for my lodging (or writing it off). My other concern is that her equipment is extremely expensive. I'm worried she'd say yes and that I'd also need to ask for the kind of protection that equipment of that price requires when in a jungle

Did you max out ur CC on other photography gear? And want to only take one slow lens?

If there's a Fry's Electronics near you, they have Bower lenses which are great and cheap. Manual focus only, but much better/faster than this lens.

Well for the price I would have been happy. I already have a 18-55 kit lens and a 50mm f1.4 but really need something longer. I bought a used t4i body for $200

Mainly plane tickets on the CC. And school stuff

I do have a Fry's, so I'll give them a look. Thanks

I'm fine with manual.

I actually have very nice film gear, which I might take and use when/if I have the time. It's all completely manual

Well I bought it from a someone I know pretty well. And it was truly bare--no battery, charger, strap, etc. It was a pretty good deal though

Meh, for $2,800 for body only, there are better choices... even in the Nikon lineup. I prefer Canon simply because they are the defacto standard. All the how-to's use Canon and describe Canon, for wedding and event videography for DSLR's everybody shoots with Canon, all the custom firmware mods are for Canon, nearly all the deals on SlickDeals for lenses are for Canon... etc.

watahboy 03-18-2013 12:45 PM

The 75-300 lens goes down to $100 with coupon code 13226. Surely not as great of a deal, but it makes it $20 cheaper than most stores.

The 55-250 is a far better lens than the crap that the 75-300 is. The 55-250 is the cheapest quality telephoto you can get from canon. Though it can be had for 100 quite often in new camera bundle deals.

It came with my t3i bundle(camera + 2 lens). It was $999 - $400(rebate turn into a check) - $220(sold the printer at this price) = $380 and now selling it on ebay at $755. I only took about 100 photos. I never again will get SLR camera. It is just too big to lug on vacation!

It can be annoying, I took the grip off of mine finally just to make it more portable.
I recommend looking at some of the mirrorless cameras if you want some better quality than a point and shoot.

Thanks for the reply. I showed them the exact link. They were reluctant to sell the lens for that price and they said I need to buy a camera to get the discount on lens. I told them my friend bought the lens without buying a camera. They asked me to bring my friend's receipt to pricematch.

I placed two separate orders and one shows "processing order" (delivery date of 3/20...moved from researching to available status) and other is still showing "researching" (with delivery date of 3/19 which I know is not happening).

Is the researching one going to be cancelled or what? Should I do a chat and see what the situation is?

Delivered. It was leaning up against the door when I got home.
