revaaron 03-19-2013 06:18 AM

why can't these be WD40EFRX

ShiZero 03-19-2013 06:25 AM

Also works on WD Red 2TB - $91.57 before any tax. I'd say that's the cheapest these drives have gone for so far.

These have been down to $89.99 at Amazon and Newegg. I loaded up on them last time it dropped this low.

Good price on the 3TB. I haven't seen those below $139.

This is a 3.5" drive, laptop drives are 2.5". Seagate is an external built for normal storage, whereas the WD Reds are built for NAS and 24/7 run time.

The blue is a 7200RPM drive and is the orig general purpose drive, Greens are low power drives better suited for desktop storage.
The cost structure was pretty simple for the longest time Blk> Blue> Green
Back in the old Circuit City days, they and BestBuy were about the only places to carry the Green line so it was a real "consumer grade" drive.

Nowadays WD seems to be pushing the Greens more with claims of low power and longer endurance.

. Caviar Blues have been out since the the line, then the blacks were added as a premium line and green a low power line and more recently the red. So Blues are the orig or base Caviar.

I typed in the code at the end of checkout, but the total price wouldn't change. Even created a new account, no luck.

Type it all CAP, make sure you spell it right.

DamnRock 03-19-2013 08:16 PM

Code isn't working for me as well. I created a new count as well. This is definitely the deal I've been waiting for to get the two 3TB Reds for my Synology.

Some other SDer mentioned the damn code expired at 8 PM Pacific Time, it's 8:26 PM right now.

JPdiddy 03-19-2013 08:28 PM

I never purchased a thing from this site, let alone ever heard of it. I used V.me BY Visa to log in, but yeah, entered the code in CAPS and no luck....

FLOP! :shake:

it was a FP deal last week. It is a network attached storage server.

Too bad

DamnRock 03-19-2013 08:34 PM

It's a NAS (Network Attached Storage) system. The one I got uses 2 drives, I'll mirror them for data backup and use it as a media server to watch videos on my PS3, etc.

Synology are one of the top brands of this type of thing. There was a deal late last week for the DS213 Air for right at $200, which is about $100 less than usual, so I jumped!

Rakuten is just Buy.com with a new name. They changed it a few weeks ago. They still say "formerly Buy.com" on the site but definitely confusing to long time Buy.com customers.

The price will drop no matter what. I just got 1 because of the stupid $25 coupon and I believe my hard drive is dying. I was thinking to get the Seagate External HD from Amazon for $139.99 yesterday.

Why do you need a invoice? Seriously, do you think Santa sent it to you? Invoices are a waste of paper.

I just want to keep track of it. This company is not professional at all.

I have never had any problems with Buy.com in the past. Bought tons of stuff over the years from them. I dont understand the name change. i think was a horrible idea, but they are probably trying to become amazon, unique name instead of something simple like buy.

They were doing poorly and got brought out by a Japanese company.
