3D glasses for $20 that are supposed to work with this TV. Ordered a pair to test.

TV Deal still active under a different Ebay item#

Ebay has this TV listed by Newegg under 2 different item #'s. The original link from the Frontpage deal has been increased to $999.99. This link http://www.ebay.com/itm/290884247642 takes you to Neweggs second listing where it is still $879.99 with free economy shipping. Hate to see people miss out because it has now shown up as an expired Frontpage deal.

GaGaGeGe 03-20-2013 02:40 PM

is it a good TV? specs look good to me, but seems like no one is showing interest here

Here is the reviews from Amazon on it. 4 stars with 59 reviews.

returning my 60PNE530A for this (I paid $951 out the door with 8.25% sales tax)

I gain 2 HDMI inputs, 3D, Smart, $70 and wifi connectivity.

hopefully I lose the buzzing sound but I can't complain.

CriticalCritic 03-20-2013 07:08 PM

In for 1! You can't beat a Plasma (600Hz? Say goodbye to motion blur!).

I'm returning my 60PM6500 for this/ I paid $820 out the door for it at Sam's Club 2 weeks ago tomorrow. But with this I gain 3D, wifi, smart TV features, and extra HDMI and USB inputs! Otherwise it's the same model that I already have.

I really don't care about the wifi and smart TV features, but it's worth the extra $60 (and the headache of taking back the one currently in front of me) in order to get the 3D functionality. I can't wait!

I predict this goes FP at midnight...

cheepdood 03-20-2013 08:24 PM

Some info I see missing from OP's post:
Estimated annual energy cost is $35
The active 3D glasses are ~$45 per pair.

Will the 3D glasses go down in price over time? I don't need them right now but I don't want to wait and pay even more later should they go up in price or become scarce.

ksycip 03-20-2013 08:29 PM

Tax kills this deal for me. + $79.20 in CA.

Got in on the $950 special with 2 3D glasses from US Appliances a couple of weeks ago. FS and no tax.

A few posts from different sites say that the Samsung Active 3D glasses work. The one with replaceable battery sell for around $20. There is also a rechargeable pair. I am going to use my credit card points to get a couple of the Samsung 3D active glasses with replaceable battery after my 60PM6700 arrives.

I bought this a year ago at Groupon for $1299. They are awesome.. 3D glass are expensive..I bought one for around $65 from amazon.

ebrevolution 03-20-2013 09:07 PM

I actually bought one of these TVs about a year ago. Its pretty neat

MatchPoint 03-20-2013 09:12 PM

Been waiting for 55" or 60" plasma. Was hoping for a Panny but this is really cheap and feature rich and the reviews are good. I'm in. The $300 Yamaha receiver just arrived today so my gaming room will be functional soon.

Now I need some decent surround speaks for a 11'x 14' room. Already have a sub I can use.

Actually the Groupon deal a year ago was for the 2011 model that used more expensive RF 3D Active glasses.

I bought it too. Model LG 60PZ950 and have been happy with the TV and its 3D. I saved another $200 by using Shop Discover which was %15 savings at the time.

I dont know about this years Lg plasmas but put it this way. panny's are in a league of their own with blacks and color accuracy. imo, it would go like this Panasonic>Samsung>Lg. With that being said, Lg's are the best bang for the buck. My brother bought an Lg pv550 and I got Panny st30. If i wasn't anal about having the best black levels, I would have gotten an lg too.

jjvcrew 03-21-2013 02:12 AM

How is the Lg pv550's 3D compare to ST30 ? Because I own 55" ST30 too and thinking about getting 60" and up ......

kwsheeha1 03-21-2013 05:11 AM

I have an LG 60 inch Plasma TV and it's great. I wonder how well LG will support the Smart TV function.
I had 2 LG Smart TV Blue Ray players and the LG smart Tv box. All of them did not work well with Netflix. It would constantly rebuffer. amazon video was OK. Support was no help. I got a Roku and have had no issues. But this is a great price so if the Smart function works well, that would be a bonus.

seriously, for the past 2 years, between both sets, i've only watch 3d twice. Once for each set. i don't watch enough 3d to notice any difference at all. To me they both look great.

I think the buffering is do to your connectivity and how fast your internet is. The lg plasma we have does good with netflix but we're in a big metro area.

When it comes to plasma stick with Panasonic.

cosmickc 03-21-2013 06:19 AM

Been looking at this tv for 2 weeks. I've read bad things about the soap opera effect and you can't shut it off. Any thoughts on that? Also, does anyone know if I can showroom this tv or a different model? Thanks

piercene 03-21-2013 06:27 AM

I bought this TV a couple weeks ago for $950 w/2 pair of glasses. Its a nice TV! I haven't had a chance to try out the 3D yet, but Xbox looks great! The screen is glossy, like most plasma's so if you have a light source behind you(like a window) you will see the reflection in the screen. I am planning to buy some blackout shades to solve that issue. Another thing to note, this is a beast! Super heavy, around 100#'s, so have someone ready to help you move/lift it. That being said this mount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1 holds it perfectly!

Panasonic may have a slightly nicer picture, but you cannot beat the bang for your buck while still getting a good picture with this LG.

They fixed the soap opera effect with firmware updates months ago. I just bought this TV a few weeks ago with the $950 US Appliance deal. It has been fantastic so far, no regrets. :bounce:

Active 3D :\ I have a 47" LG Passive 3D I'm looking to upgrade to a larger size TV. Think I should jump on this or wait for a lower price passive 3d TV from LG? This will be used as my main TV in my living room. Any thoughts?

+ $35.20 in ebay bucks

What's the practical difference between active and passive 3D?

I'm guessing, passive 3D has cheaper glasses but poorer viewing angles.

Not 100% sure something like half resolution for active vs half refresh rate for passive.

My big concern is 3D glasses prices. Since this will be the main TV the fewest number of people that will be watching a 3D movie at a time is 2, but most cases will be 4-6 people. It's hard to start a movie when not everyone can watch it. :\

Why can't people just buy a Panasonic plasma and be safe?

Ruination78 03-21-2013 07:11 AM

Panasonic is considering getting out of the Plasma business soon. So I would be safe and go LG or Samsung.

Purchased this TV about 6months ago for $1,100 and love it. Great screen and no issues.

Grompy 03-21-2013 07:14 AM

Ended Up jumping on the deal. Glasses are about $50 a pop

AG-S350 are the glasses for this TV.

Cheapest glasses on ebay atm. Maybe a good thing to use your EBay bucks on.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-AG-S35...4d0a033164

Also an amazon review led me to these 3D glasses that are supposed to be compatible with the TV they look sturdier than LG's.

How would that be safe? The article says "nothing has been decided." New Panasonic plasmas are releasing this year that supposedly have an even better picture quality than the highly acclaimed models the year before so Panasonic is still in the plasma market. If anything people should be encouraged to grab Panasonic plasmas while they're still available.

sc2 03-21-2013 07:39 AM

Don't have space for any more TVs (unless I start throwing away perfectly good older plasmas), but damn that's a great price. Would jump on it in a heartbeat ;).

I plan to put this behind my projector screen in the basement. I have been curious about 3d but some of the smaller sets just aren't worth it for what they are charging and something only a little bigger could cost 1k more.
I could see the lines on a passive pc monitor so I am hesitant to try it with a bigger tv. This may even end up replacing my projector for most uses.

repped

Dealbro22 03-21-2013 09:03 AM

I have the 50" version of this TV. I absolutely LOVE it, and I paid ~$800 for it around Christmas time. I haven't bought the 3D glasses yet, but honestly... $880 for the 60" version is a great price.

Theycallmechad 03-21-2013 09:04 AM

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on this deal, but am not overly excited about the LG-ness of this Plasma. Do 3D, Smart/Wifi, Panasonics in this size ever go down under a grand? I haven't been watching because I wasn't previously in the market.

Thanks!

Panasonic will probably not announce new models and continue research although they will milk the current technology and sell Plasmas for a long time. This rumor/article has been going around for some time now although Panasonic is in deep shit financially. If Panasonic quits too, it would be tragic for Plasma aficionados.

I passed on this deal when it was on US Appliance for $950 with 2 3D glasses. My logic was- I dont care so much about the 3d and wifi, might as well pay for a 65 inch with better picture (read panny/samsung)

But darn, it is hard to find a 65 inch tv on sale.

If I do get swarmed- im going to hide behind 65inches of pure awesomeness- probably turn on some Walking Dead so the the zombies walk on by. However if they like the show and hang out, ill be left with no choice but to use the metal edge.

What the heck, bit the bullet. Newegg was selling it for this price on their site last week but seems like it is better to buy it off of eBay. They have a 30 day money back and free return shipping. Worth trying out to see if it is better then my LED.

Where do you see free return shipping?

Edit: Never mind, I see the free return shipping now on eBay. When I looked @ this tv last night, it said otherwise. I even asked Newegg this question, but no response yet.

Please note that you guys can use the Samsung SSG-4100GB, or the Samsung SSG-5100GB (pairs and are compatible) with this set - no need to use the LG active shutter glasses. The Samsung's are much cheaper to boot.

Already ordered mine for pickup from Best Best. Need to check out the 3d compared to my passive before making the final decision. BB sells them for $19.99. I believe Amazon might be a $1 cheaper. Even after buying a few pairs of glasses the TV is still a great price.

Also need to take into consideration the amount of time you watch 3d vs 2d. The 2d picture should really be the deciding factor here. O know the largest complaint about active 3d is headaches and eye fatigue so as long as it is doable in small doses it should be fine. Also, the reviews are great on the Samsung glasses as another large complaint with active was the uncomfortable and heavy glasses used. People say the Samsung glasses are light weight and very comfortable to wear.

this LED set is really 60Hz so you may experience motion blur with this set:

I'd get the LG plasma instead.

"New condition" ? Does that mean "Brand New" or "like new" as in refurb/open box?

whiterabbit76 03-21-2013 05:30 PM

Wonder why newegg dont just sell off their own website. Ebay listing price and commission are pricey.

Meaning brand new.

Still looks fishy to me the way it's represented on the ebay ad. You'd be surprised the games marketers play. Nowhere on that page does it say brand new. An item can be in "new condition" and be used/returned/demo, etc.. You guys are gambling based on what I read. I'll pass, but good luck though...

Really dkraut?? I don't mean to be nasty but what part of this ebay description don't you understand??

***New: A BRAND-NEW, UNUSED, UNOPENED, UNDAMAGED item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store***

You get free return shipping anyway..... :)

Then why are they selling through ebay? I've bought a lot of stuff through NewEgg.com and never had a problem, but I've never had to go through ebay to get it. Sorry guys, but I have a high level of distrust for anything sold through ebay. Deal is probably fine, but like I said, I'll pass. Cheers!

A lot of companies have eBay stores. You will be surprised to see probably all your favorite shops sell things on there.

There is nothing crazy about the price either. Newegg was selling it just for a couple dollars more on their own site last week. They are probably just looking to unload their stock and eBay is a great place to do it.

You can go on Newegg's own site and chat with them about it if you have any questions. If you don't want the TV that is one thing, but don't hesitate to buy because it is through eBay. For the consumer you actually have more protection buying through eBay because vendor is even held to higher standards.

Yeah, I don't quite understand why they go though ebay but I've bought newegg stuff through ebay before and it was okay. The price for the stuff they sell on ebay is usually "slick" so they may have some pricing agreement with the manufacturers that they can't sell a product for less than a certain price on the main newegg site. Similar reason why you have to put something in your cart before you can see its price.

Reps to whom ever calls them and finds out why they go through ebay.

Purchase this TV from their site and you don't like it. You pay a 15% restocking fee and also have to pay return shipping.

Purchase this TV from eBay and their is no restocking fee and they pay the return shipping. Who really cares why they do it. Toys R Us even has a store on eBay! You people are looking into this a little too much and are coming to the wrong conclusions.

Even for the sake of price matching, other stores won't match eBay prices so all the business will go to Newegg and not it's competitors.

Kremerica 03-22-2013 07:35 AM

I was thinking about buying, but glossy screen may be a problem for me with glare from a window in the room. The only other thing is the brand, LG vs. Panasonic...

Great price though!

I seriously doubt this will happen in the next two years. If it did this wouldn't affect warranty status, anyway if that's the concern. No reason to buy a sub-par LG plasma.

I had this issue yesterday and was frantically calling customer support so i wouldn't miss the deal. Turns out paypal likes to put Holds on your cards even if you checkout as a guest. Spoke to another rep and he said "Its a bug in the system", asked to be transferred to a supervisor and he fixed the problem.

Basically create a member in paypal, add card, call customer support, speak to supervisor.

I hate paypal...

My 47" led lit sammy lcd uses about 120 watts according to the kill-a-watt. But this being quite largeand plasma to boot i think a few dollars a month more isn't bad.

jackass124 03-22-2013 03:52 PM

any links to a red-hot bluray player deal to go with the new tv?

jttx 03-22-2013 03:54 PM

Sorry this going to be long if you want to think again before buy and LG product.
I THINK TWICE BEFORE BUY ANOTHER LG PRODUCT AGAIN, I BUY THE TOP OF THE LINE 3D LG TV (60PZ950) AND AFTER THE MAIN BOARD REPLACED AND TWO OTHER BOARDS THAT THE TECH TRIED TO SEE IF THAT SOLVE THE ISSUE, THEY CAN NOT BE ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE TV.
Now they want me to pay for a technician to come home again to check what is wrong with the TV, Of course I said NO why I’m going to pay for another visit when the LG technician cannot be able to solve the problem in two previous visits.
I spoke to the supervisor and he told me that the tech reported the problems was solved, I’m almost sure the supervisor LIE.
I have to say that they replaced my 6 pairs of 3D Glasses because the ones they sold with the TV have problems, But that cost me at least 5 calls to the LG customer service and 5 or 6 emails.
WHY DO I HAVE TO CONTACT LG CUSTOMER SERVICE SO MANY TIMES AROUND 12 TIMES BTWEN CALLS AND EMAILS WHEN THEY KNOW THAT THE 3D GLASSES FW.63 SHIPPED WITH THE TV OR BUY AT ANY DISTRIBUTOR STORE HAS PROBLEMS.
The sad thing is that I have few LG products that I have to keep it until they die so I replaced with another brand.
I have an LG refrigerator also and the service the technician coming with the front display and Main board because I have problems with the refrigerator too, the display came with a broken plastic that I have to glued with epoxy but was to the inside and that part does not have any vital function that affect.
They also replace the main board and one hour after the tech leave the refrigerator STOP WORKING and before the problem were the front display only but anyway they replace the main board too, CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY REPLACE A GOOD BOARD THAT WAS WORKING WITH ONE THAT IS BAD.
Thanks that I asks the technician if he can leave the old parts he check the order and doesn’t ask to return the old parts, he leave my original board, I replaced the board and the refrigerator start working again.
That is why I’m done with the LG products,
They are pretty and looks modern BUT
I think they are still the same GOLD STAR products of the 80s that nobody buys because they lack quality.

Bizill 03-22-2013 04:10 PM

That is good to know. I currently have a lm7600 and the glare is terrible. The only thing that saves it is the ability turn up the brightness. Was afraid the plasma would have the same glare without the ability to turn it up as bright.

How would you compare the picture to the lm7600? I think the lm7600 has a gorgeous picture, kind of doubt a plasma at this price can even come close but we shall find out soon enough.

After a long debate, I just picked one of these up last night at the $880 price - thanks to the OP for posting this! I had my heart set on a 55" Samsung LED Smart TV, but this seemed like a pretty great deal. I also thought the picture quality looked great on the one I saw at Fry's last night.

As 60" smart TV's go, is this a pretty rock bottom price? I am waffling a bit on my decision today. I am concerned I am paying more for a 60" when a 55" will do, and that I will come a cross a better deal in the next few months. Any thoughts from those who know more about this than I?

Finally, is there anything I need to watch out for with a Plasma as opposed to an LED? I have heard that image burn can be an issue, but most people seem to think it is less of an issue with the new generation of plasmas.

I don't think you are going to find a smart, 3d 60" TV for less then this whether it be plasma or LED. Any cheaper and they would be paying you to take it.

I believe IR (Image Retention) is more of an issue then actually burn in. IR is just temporary and could usually fade away after watching other things. Depending on how bad the IR is, could take several weeks to no time at all. My impression is that is much harder to get burn in on today's plasma TVs. Usually you would notice the IR before it became burn in and you can take the appropriate steps to remove it.

Thanks for the advice. I have been watching the deals on these for over a year, and finally bit on this one. It's more than I wanted to spend, but it looks like an amazing TV. I'm looking forward to receiving it!

What glasses should I get?

What are some good cheaper glasses that will work?

I saw mentioned here a couple times that some of the samsung 20 dollar glasses work. Is that in fact, the case?

jlo8720 03-25-2013 07:37 PM

I bought the official ones (A something) they are $50 everywhere.

Ill probably buy the samsung pair as a backup/guest pair.

jlo8720 03-25-2013 08:17 PM

and does anyone have confirmation on what remote this version ships with. their page says "mr 3 mode or something, but the various sites say different things.

Bizill 03-26-2013 01:11 AM

Picked mine up from trucking company today vs waiting for tomorrow. Love it so far. Got Avatar on it right now just to see some POP.

Comes with standard remote, and not that optional one. Now, off to find some worthy glasses.

Mine just delivered and it's a standard remote. No touch controls like there looks to be on the "magic" remote.

Also came with 04.02.05 firmware. In the process of updating to 04.10.06 at the moment.

jlo8720 03-26-2013 08:11 AM

Thanks black civic, mine is supposed to be delivered in the next couple hours, will have to go home to accept the delivery, but sadly I'll have to come right back to work.

jlo8720 03-26-2013 08:29 AM

Can anyone conform if the 2012 LG smart phone app works with this TV (android), as the model is not listed in the compatible Tvs. Tia

I am pretty sure it does since the TV supports the motion remote. Also, anyone who is upset that it does not come with the motion remote in my wife's words to me...she hopes I keep the plasma just so she does not have to use the motion remote that came with our LG led. She cannot stand it and I can see why a lot of others complain about it also. If you do not plan on browsing the web and doing a lot of typing then it is pointless and is more of a hassle then you think.

It is a gimmick that is geeks like but for day to day use it is not that practical.

blk00civicsi 03-26-2013 09:18 AM

I had no intention of even using my remote. My harmony does all the work. No reason to not continue to use it.

jlo8720 03-26-2013 09:21 AM

Which harmony? One of my main TV used is the Blu ray via ps3, rendering the harmony 700 use less

Harmony One. The PS3 has a Harmony adapter that converts the RF to Bluetooth. May want to check it out.

Wow, you guys are getting them delivered quick! I ordered mine on Saturday night and the tracking is claiming it will take until April 1st to go from California to Oregon. Are you guys getting them faster than the tracking says it will take?

I did what an earlier poster said. Mine was supposed to be delivered friday 3/29. As soon as I saw it hit locally (from LAX to DEN) I called and asked how to schedule delivery. They offered to deliver today. Delivery guys were here within 15 mins of calling.

Call (800) 888 4949 when you see it land locally. They'll get it set up.

jlo8720 03-26-2013 10:47 AM

Just used my lunch break to accept the delivery and box up my old PN60E530A3FXZA, will return that tonight and unbox this LG shortly after.

According to LG there are 2 model versions. 60PM6700-UB has the standard remote. 60PM6700-UD has the magic remote.

jlo8720 03-26-2013 01:20 PM

Mine arrived 2 days ahead of quote. I'm outside of Dallas and mine shipped from Memphis

blackfriday 03-26-2013 01:32 PM

Just got mines delivered 15 minutes ago and I live in Philly. I can't imagine I could have done better getting this for 791.99 plus the 30 something in eBay bucks that I'll use for glasses, a true slick deal indeed!!!

jlo8720 03-26-2013 02:41 PM

Ebay bucks?

Too late to earn on this but you can register here

http://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...nding=true

This nets you 2% back on your eBay purchases (more if you use BML)

It's great if you buy there a lot.

In case that link doesn't work.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/eb...html#bucks

1/2 way down should say something about enrolling here.

pthaxton 03-26-2013 06:02 PM

Do they set the tv up or just bring the box inside? Thanks, getting mine delivered tomorrow morning.

TV should be here tomorrow. Already have the samsung one from amazon. Will try to test when I get off work around 5pm EST and let you know.

The app works (and takes screenshots).

Remote say already confirmed above, but yes it's the regular version. Firmware info is in above photo

eric3316 03-27-2013 10:37 AM

The Samsung 5100GB 3d glasses that are about $20 works with this TV. I had mine delivered yesterday and can confirm this. I am guessing the 4100GB will work as well as the 5100 is just a newer model.

To the person asking about delivery, they just drop it off.

jlo8720 03-27-2013 06:50 PM

cant find either the samsung or the official LGs in my city, will have to get some this weekend while I'm travelling for easter.

thanks eric3316 for the clarification.

I did through their ebay store. It was much less than buying directly through them. I got ebay bucks on it too (2.28).

They even honored my 35% coupon (via partial refund after purchase) which knocks it down to a very low price of ~75+tax for 4 years.

pthaxton 03-28-2013 09:54 AM

Yea, they just brought it in. The box was damaged and they wanted me to sign that it was in good condition... That was a no go. I signed the thing writing in that it was damaged. Thankfully though it ended up being fine and everything works great.

I love the tv and the 20 dollar Samsung glasses do work. Only problem is they really hurt my nose. Does anyone know if the lg ones are more comfortable? Might be worth it for me.

I think the LG has an extra piece for your nose. I didn't look closely at it, but I saw a piece that looked like it snapped onto the bridge

CriticalCritic 03-28-2013 11:30 AM

Mine just came in today. It's in great condition but there's no magic remote. Can anyone confirm whether this was supposed to include the magic remote?

blk00civicsi 03-28-2013 12:38 PM

Standard remote here as well. I don't think any of us will be getting one with the magic remote.

MatchPoint 03-28-2013 08:20 PM

TV won't display ESPN3. Flash does not work in the included browser. The only "over the top" video you can get are the ones that have their own app included with this TV. For example, there is a Hulu plus app, you tube app, netflix app, etc. If the content uses flash and you want to view it, the TV must have an installed app for it. The intelligence of this smartTv is very limited b/c of this IMO.

The TV is pretty awesome though and the Samsung glass work. Just ordered another pair. Played COD BO Zombies on PS3 in 3D.

TV does give off some heat . I had to open a window after running it a couple hours in a 11x11' room.

jlo8720 03-29-2013 02:40 AM

I have one stuck pixel that sticks sometimes (blu) depending on the input/status. It comes and goes, but i cant figure out if its input specific or something. Will reboot and unplug my cords to see if that fixes. thankfully its in the upper corner.

jimmer_5 03-30-2013 09:07 AM

Got mine yesterday! I called and was able to move up the delivery date. My wall mount and HDMI cables arrive on Monday.

First impressions:

- This thing is huge - it feels bigger than I expected when I got it in my home (I did go look at one in the store before purchasing). I almost have buyers remorse - I probably should have gone 55" or smaller based on the size of my living room.

- It has hookups for RCA cables, but when I used an RCA to plug in my Blu Ray player, the image is Black & White and grainy. HDMI cables are on the way.

- Netflix app works well although trying to rewind is difficult with the remote, and typing is extremely tedious. I really want a keyboard that will hook directly into the TV - will a Logitech wireless work? I am thinking about this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wi...g+keyboard

- I have got a lot to learn! I am upgrading from a 27" Toshiba CRT that I bought in 2005, so I have a lot to learn about setting this up properly and using the smart features. REading through the setup menus and the smart features, there were a lot of things I didn;t understand. It almost feels like a giant smartphone.

Tv came in and I'm loving it!!!

Go to your purchase history on ebay, and on this purchase, under order details, is a link to add a warranty. You have 30 days to buy one if you want.

jlo8720 03-31-2013 08:39 PM

does the screen stay on for a couple seconds after powering down? it appears gray like its 'warming down' or something.

Grompy 04-12-2013 01:34 PM

anyone have a screen cap of the return policy? I don't recall seeing item must be unopened to be returned. Did it?
