OOS - Deal is dead

badguy774 03-20-2013 09:40 PM

good price but in details it says: EDT SPRAY UNBOXED (M)

Is this not retail version or is it a tester or something? Anyone have any experience buying fragrances from Tanga? Thanks

Good catch. I find it curious that they've pictured it with the retail box, but marked it as unboxed, hidden under details. You'd think they'd display this more prominently since several people would be buying these as gifts.

Unboxed EDTs are identical to their retail versions, but without the retail box. Its still a great value if you're buying it for yourself, like I did.

Switching2Geico 03-20-2013 10:05 PM

Does this smell good?

ustsanpablo 03-20-2013 10:06 PM

In details it also says: No returns...

How do you know? I mean, not trying to get all conspiracy theory on you but, why would you back up Tanga if you dont know if what they are selling is legit?

I have no reason to back them up, other than I've purchased several low-value items from them in the past and haven't had any issues. I've never purchased perfume from them. Unboxed perfume is an industry standard term and I was just explaining it. If you have had any issues with them, I encourage you to post your experience; I'd benefit from knowing too.

i see. had no idea unboxed was 'industry standard'.

not selling legitimate colognes/perfumes without a box seems like an obvious way for a brand to differentiate their products and make it difficult to clone/fake, which is already a big enough market... personally i would be leary with 'unboxed'.... anything really.

Not sure if im going to buy this but any comparison to "essential" ? That's probably one of my favorite EDTs.

corpusguy 03-20-2013 10:49 PM

it's probably a tester.. usually testers are more concentrated then the actual product..

thanks op..

Dough Boy 03-20-2013 10:58 PM

Got one as a gift or for myself, plus I opted for the GQ 1 year subscription for $4.99

tennisplayer888 03-20-2013 11:17 PM

Is this place trust-able? I am pretty sure these are testers, but I have to see if this place doesnt sell fakes or anything first...

bobnsofi 03-20-2013 11:24 PM

Are you sure about that? B/c I would find it highly bad business like for a company to do that... and then that would create trouble for them when there are problems from the consumer. I mean sure if the tester is an EdP and you buy the EdT then that is plausible, but I find it highly unlikely that a tester would be more concentrated.

supersoul 03-20-2013 11:39 PM

unbox =unopened
EDT = eau de toilette which is less concentrated than perfume
Perfume overs 3 years is not good. Its original smell might change after 3 years.
Cheap perfume might be cheap for some reason.
Tanga takes a long time to ship.

lolmudkip 03-20-2013 11:42 PM

in 4 1 - thanks!

Depends on how you store it... if you store it in a dry, shaded, darker place not directly in front of sunlight, they can last decades, I dont expect designers to, but it should last at least 5+ yrs. I mean I have a DKNY BD from 2008 or so, my favorite and I try to savor it, and it is still going strong. My bottle of London is pushing 3-4 yrs. now and it is still going like right out of the box, same with my Gucci PH, the only thing with those is that they are more for Fall/Winter wearing, so it is limited wear.

I still have CK1 from when I was 12-years-old. I am 27-years-old now.

For the price it is worth the gamble, and from reviews it is pretty good sillage and scent-wise, the only thing that is keeping me away is the longevity of it, it doesnt seem to last long.

If you are looking for cheap, long lasting, and overall a good scent. I recommend Nautica Voyage, unless they reformulated, it is my Go-To scent, I really like it, actually smells like the sea. And I get compliments here and there as well.

If you want an AdG substitute, I would say Perry Ellis 360 Red, a bit more sharper with more lemon, but last much longer and projects much better. Girls cant tell the difference when they smell it, but you can get a 3.4oz for around $20-25 which still costs much less than the regular smaller bottle of AdG.

Did you get one of those big 6oz bottles? LOL, I never cared much for that one, but it is definitely one of the better Unisex fragrances.

i think it's actually older than that..that might be when they redid the bottles? :D imo: red > grey > green, but they all smell decent. :)

Thanks for the information! I got in on this order, seemed like a decent deal, but I'll also check out the Voyage sometime. Only cologne (EDT I guess) I've really ever used is Victoria Secret's Very Sexy for Him.

What makes you think this was fake? Deal with this website before?

I will say, I did get a bootleg of this very cologne from a cheap aunt for xmas (along with the white version)... They smelled good, but made my skin itch. I googled it, turns out this one is pretty hot on the bootleg market. I read some of the ingredients they put into the fake colognes and threw this shit away immediately haha.

Good luck everyone!

The only time you are guaranteed genuine is if you buy from Macy's / Dillards / Bonton etc. I know someone who is in the perfume business that deals with mass quantities of perfumes and I HAVE SEEN IT ALL when it comes to fakes.

Now I dont feel so bad about buying this for full retail price at Macy's. The white bottle came out to around $72 when I bought it about a month ago.
