I've owned this headset for a year. It's excellent. The suspended wire cable head band is super comfy and the ear pads too. You can wear this hours on end with no pressure problems. (Although, depending on the frames I wear for my glasses, sometimes that can influence comfort)

The plug-in for the Xbox 360 can be left in place and you can plug the headset into that or disconnect and use the headset on a PC no hassle. The Xbox 360 connector is pretty long too, so much so that you should make sure you're not tangled up if you need to get up and grab something. Not sure how the connector and the PS3 work together, but if it's remotely similar then no one should have any problems.

The retractable mic is very good also. It's pick up distance is pretty good so don't put it too close to your mouth. Clarity is high as long as you don't try to eat it. Setting a proper distance should be easy as it's very flexible.

I highly recommend this product, especially at this price point.

This headset is for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Expand features tab on site to see that it is included. (Site is just saving space on headline bar by putting only PS3)

Hi, how does this compare to PDP AfterGlow AGP.1 Headphone? Thanks in advance.

Crios 03-24-2013 06:59 AM

Had this thing for two years. Everything about it works great. If you're careful about handling the headset (don't fling it across the room like I did sometimes), it'll last a lot longer.

blacknute 03-24-2013 07:32 AM

Have v1 from when they were icemat - fixed it with zip ties. Love it.

Been looking for this!

nick_dev 03-24-2013 07:33 AM

I have been waiting for this since last time 1saleadat had on sale. I bought one for a gift and tried them on and they were so comfortable only to give them away cause I had already told the person. Thanks op. Repped.

jrizzy 03-24-2013 07:37 AM

for some reason Bens is having issue with ppl checking out atm...

=============
Well this is embarrassing, but something went wrong.

We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly. Sorry for any inconvenience.

3IfByAir 03-24-2013 07:38 AM

I was looking at these yesterday. Awesome find!

Side note, instead of the confirmation page, I got an error. I did get the confirmation email, but the order status link doesn't work. It looks like my credit card was already charged, so hopefully, I receive them without issue.

Repped.

Yea after I submitted my PayPal payment, it directed me to an Oops, something went wrong page. Needless to say, I still got an email confirmation with my order number.

PFX7 03-24-2013 07:40 AM

Curious about how this connects to the PS3

Edit : Found it - - - - > faq.steelseries.com/questions/258/How+can+I+connect+the+SteelSeries+Siberia+v2+Cross-Platform+Headset+headset+to+work+with+my+PS3+system%3F

Not the most elegant way out there but I guess it'll work if the cable is long enough.

TekkenLord 03-24-2013 07:42 AM

Can this be used as a standalone headphone for mp3 players or smartphone?

MatchPoint 03-24-2013 07:42 AM

Great headset. I use it with the PS3. Anyone know if you can use two of these at the same time. Not sure if the PS3 will know what to do with two USB mics.

Yes - but I think the cord is pretty long and you'll have a loose cable (the mic)

sumthin_gud 03-24-2013 07:47 AM

8 days ago, i would have been on this like white on rice, but i just got my ath-a900x... man i am NOT dissappointed. do wish the 3d wing design was more resilient though

Thanks, so the cord is not modular? I see an open box Afterglow AGP.1 at my local Target for about the same price, with modular cables. How do these compare, ne1 knows?

Twice with paypal, and once with a CC. Got the embarrassing page on each one. Looks like I'll have to cancel 2 of them, assuming they went through.

Would these still work if I'm connecting my Xbox through Hdmi? I'm guessing it would have to be plugged into the tv's audio out then.

TheChemist 03-24-2013 08:13 AM

I just received tracking info for my orders.

OwaN 03-24-2013 08:15 AM

I got these on the 1saleaday deal last time. They're not bad but I never use them. For one, I don't want the control thing, its some weird USB setup, and the mic doesn't come with 3.5mm extension cable. The headphone is native 3.5mm but the cable is really short so you need either the control thing as an extender, or a dual 3.5mm extender to use it. I also found them to be a bit uncomfortable since the ear-cups didn't fully cover my ears and I decided I didn't like the closed-air design. If I needed them they I think I would have been reasonably happy, but I bought them on a whim and wound up strongly preferring my existing setup of Sennheiser HD555's with desk mic.

It covers all three. It's advertised the same as 1saleaday did last year. They advertise it as PS3 but under compatibility it covers PC, Xbox360 and PS3. I own this, it will work on all three.

It can if you don't mind the mic wire dangling. It's the plug length plus another 2 inches of wire before both the mic and earphone wires combine into one cord.

The mic retracts far enough into headset that it wouldn't be noticeable, you're more likely to have someone see the hanging mic plug.

My local Target has an open-box as i stated earlier for about the same price...The glow of the headphone only lits up when connect to a console or PC (and it is also on/off-optional). The wires are also modular, I think you know what that means. Sound is also pretty decent when I hear from a friend's.

Snap it up then man. I do like the naked aspect of the design allowing you to see the circuit boards.

I've actually torn down old motherboards, flipped them smooth side out, put it in a shadowbox frame, thrown some lighting behind it and used them as framed backlit art. That headset reminds me of that a bit.

VulcanTourist 03-24-2013 08:47 AM

Don't do it. Endless arguments about acoustic properties aside, these will be uncomfortable to anyone with large or atypical ears, and will become moreso over time since the cushions are GLUED-ON and not replaceable. I could never wear them for more than 1/2 hour at a time without experiencing sharp pains in my ears from bruising or pressure.

spyder810 03-24-2013 09:07 AM

Warning to all, the build quality in these are cheap as hell. My friend and I personally have owned 3 pair of these each, 2 regular v2s and the special edition diablo 3s. The Headphones WILL fail (the wires they use are crap) and short out. They're damn comfy and work great when they do, they just don't last no matter how good you take care of them.

Not sure why you're claiming this as this work will with just about anything that take a standard 3.5mm headphone jack

TienD 03-24-2013 09:18 AM

I'm not claiming anything, I'm restating the specs because people keep asking whether it will work with the 2 systems.

And seeing as PS3 and Xbox 360 don't work off 3.5mm jacks, I'd say it's useful to know.

compsandstuff 03-24-2013 09:50 AM

Don't really need another headset but wouldn't hurt to have one. Get this or not?

ashanev 03-24-2013 09:54 AM

Siberia V2 is the greatest headset I've ever used. They are insanely comfortable. The retractable mic is nice. I hope to never use a different headset. I mostly use mine for Skype'ing during Starcraft 2. This price is so ridiculously good that I might have to snag another pair should mine ever fail (though they haven't in ~2 years, and appear to be in new condition).

The "control thing" is guts of this headset. It has a mic mute switch on it so when someone comes in the room while your gaming you can cut off the mic so the gamers can't hear your private discussion. It has two volume dials on it as well. One controls the game volume and the other controls the chat volume of everyone playing (this is not mic input level). So in the two extreme cases, you could only hear the game's volume (muting all chatters) or you could only hear chatting and mute the game sounds. I use this with the PS3 and I think it is great. Wish it was wireless though.

I have the headphone jack (extending from control thing) plugged into my Onkyo receiver which is connected to the PS3 via HDMI. The USB plug on the headset (extending from control thing also) is plugged into the PS3. I assume all chat traffic (in and out) go though the USB and that's how the chat volume and game volume can be controlled seperately.

Just got back from Target, and decided the AGP.1 is also not for me. The cord is too long and heavy. It is only modular in a sense that you still have to carry around the in-line control module. The headband is also too tight to wear for a long time.

adaweawe 03-24-2013 11:07 AM

After trying one of these "gaming headsets" I realized I prefer the lighter Bluetooth headsets are also available in Bluetooth. I really dislike the big ear muff covers especially on hot days and long play sessions because years get really sweaty and it is a really uncomfortable feeling because your years get really hot and moist. However for $30 or sometimes $20 you can find a on sale year but style lightweight Bluetooth headset which also comes with a microphone. These are much lighter and much better in terms of comfortability the sound quality is really good to especially if you go for a better brand. That might cost you up to $40.

However I think is worth it because ergonomics is very important especially when gaming you don't want to constantly be distracted by your headphones they have to adjust or pull-up and fan out to let out the moisture to evaporate. Not to mention the heaviness of a larger set of headphones is also a distraction because sometimes you get itches that you want to scratch and headphone is blocking the area that you want to scratch. And of course the headphone is the thing that caused the itchiness in the first place it being so big and having so many places that are touching her head that could potentially cause it to itch.

The last thing is that these big headsets if you have long hair can really patdown and mold the shape of your hair on top of your head and have to take them off especially after a long play session you'll find that you have a "bad hair day." That means you have to waste time trying to correct the shape of the hair on top.. With a smaller lightweight Bluetooth headset you don't have to do this.

damn, ordered these thinking they have volume control and mute mic button on the main cord. Can't use the USB because that bypasses my soundcard.

prankies 03-24-2013 12:40 PM

This should be the standard retail price of these things. "Gaming" headphones are junk compared to their non-gaming counterparts.

I would highly recommend spending the extra $10 on a pair of Samson SR850s if gaming is your primary goal. They will be immeasurably better in every aspect (aside from the built in mic, of course).

These gaming marketed peripherals are always garbage. Don't let your gamer confirmation bias cloud your judgement--these are NOT quality headphones. I have owned these, the Razer Carcharias, and some other "x-treme gamerz" marketed crap, and cheap wiring and components always fail within a year (usually somewhere along the headset's volume/mic control or below one of the earcups). Sound is hollow and lacks detail when played alongside similarly priced sets. The soundstage is passable (a necessity for first person shooters), but still nothing to write home about. The only real positive for these is the decent microphone.

And if you ever listen to music, really do yourself a favor and drop that extra $10 on the SR850s (or any one of many $40-$50 open-back headphones by a company that actually specializes in audio products).

ikisat 03-24-2013 12:55 PM

Bummer didn't check early enough today last few deals on these I've gotten them for $50-90 and resold them on Amazon for $180.

Any one who got them they're an excellent purchase they're easily one of if not the most comfortable headsets ever made. Sound quality isn't the best I've heard but it easily tops the low quality from brands like beats, logitech, razer, skullcandy, etc.

lol, I'm in that club! The parts that enclose around the "muff hanger" part split apart pretty early on, on both sides. Didn't want to bother shipping them back so just ziptied them. Other than that, they've been beaten up but held up for years. I would toss them on the floor, they'd fall off my little hanger hook to the floor, I'd play things at max volume and use them as desk speakers instead of headphones, etc. The extension cord went out after a while, but the main two-foot cord coming out of them is really strong. That's a really good external mic they had too.

Three main things I'd say about the V1s, (other ones may have similar features, or not):
1) Super comfortable. I could literally wear them all day and not care.
2) Open-back design. That generally means sounds are more separated, (a very good thing), but if you're buying headphones so others can't hear what you're listening to, you're barking up the wrong tree.
3) I sometimes hear people say how bassy they are. I don't think they're bassy. At all. I have the "Xbox 360" 4xb (5xb that doesn't fold flat) and would say the same thing about them.

The 4xbs have a really thin plug wire compared to the V1, btw. Not sure about the V2. The V1 cord is so strong I could use it to re-enact the scene in the Spiderman movie where he hangs upside-down from a web to kiss what's-her-face.

I have the "Xbox 360" 4xb with extra "Xbox" controller thing with volume controls. If it's the same, the USB is only used to power it. It makes things very loud if turned up, though mine adds some electrical interference noise even on low. It has regular headphone and mic jacks otherwise that you plug into your sound card.

Hmm, these say "audio mixer," but it doesn't mention the Xbox thing. Looking at a pic online, I assume it's probably similar just without being able to plug into an Xbox controller.

Short answer, these will work with your xbox.

FTFY

I don't believe he has tracking info yet. I'd be damned surprised, as I ordered multiples of these, have confirmation, but they don't even show up yet in "MY Account" on their site.

phobic 03-24-2013 02:12 PM

dns106 03-24-2013 03:12 PM

I understand what it does and how it works and I don't want it, plus I want my sound output through my sound card rather than through the USB DAC

Terrible customer support. I ordered these on Saturday and paid via PayPal. When PayPal returned me to complete my order, their (Ben's) site errored out. However, I received a confirmation email from PayPal AND Ben's Outlet confirming my order. I contacted Ben's this morning to verify and was told that my order DID NOT go through and that they can no longer honor my order as the item is out of stock. I have an email chain to prove it.

SDBVIII 03-25-2013 02:07 PM

Uh-oh. Similar story here, too. Anyone who got the error of "this is embarrassing" but got a confirmation, may want to email them to check the status. Here's what they told me when I checked:

Quote:

Thank you for contacting Ben's Outlet,

I apologize for the inconvenience and your order did not go through.

A hold generally occurs when you try to place an order and it does not come through on our end. This hold generally remains for 24-48 business hours, at which point it will be removed.

Please feel free to contact your bank for further information regarding this hold.
Problem was, I paid Paypal and got a confirmation from both Paypal and BensOutlet.com. Hopefully, it won't be too much hassle to get my money back.

dealslasher 03-25-2013 03:26 PM

So did anyone get an order of them???

Kayski 03-25-2013 03:39 PM

Same thing here. Payment went through but had an error when i was purchasing it. Confirmation and everything..customer service said it was processed and my payment is on hold. Pretty bs customer support kept giving me generic answers.

What did you guys say when you guys talked to support? At least yours was different and said yours was processed.

WhatsYoFlava 03-26-2013 05:40 PM

Anyone get a shipment confirmation yet?

Nedlinin 03-26-2013 09:25 PM

Well, I ordered and got the embarrassing page.. Credit card was charged and I got the confirmation email..

But today they credited my card back.. Didn't say anything to me about it but it's looking like my headset isn't coming :-(

stook 03-27-2013 11:24 AM

Same issue - payment went through then they tried to say it was a hold on my bank and the order got canceled. Shady dealing, putting customers at risk with their credit card and getting publicity. We need to make it bad publicity and boycott. F them.

elusus 03-27-2013 05:09 PM

So i went ahead and emailed support and they told me that my order didn't go through. I paid via paypal. They told me that it will take up to 48 hours to receive the money back...

xecutionkrk 03-27-2013 07:07 PM

they refunded my charge. :| waste of time

ferrit 03-28-2013 11:47 PM

It's been 5 days with no communication on behalf of the seller. Funny how they claim that they 1-2 business days to get to unprocessed orders and here I am 4 full business days later with not even a "Hey we screwed up" message.

SaidTheWhale 03-31-2013 03:13 PM

They haven't refunded my money yet. Haven't got any tracking info either. Did anyone actually receive a headset?

elusus 03-31-2013 11:39 PM

THey haven't refunded my paypal transaction either. So I went ahead and filed a paypal dispute. I'll find out soon enough whats goin on.

Same here, emailed them twice and have heard nothing. Guess I have to file a dispute too.

AaronG3835 04-08-2013 07:38 AM

Had the same experience. Got my money refunded via PayPal. Would NOT recommend doing business with Ben's Outlet.

Funkorama 04-08-2013 11:34 AM

Diablo 3 mouse pad arrived. This has not.

jrhuang 04-09-2013 09:12 AM

Reply I got 2 days after contacting them through their website:

"Hello,

I am truly sorry for the inconvenience.

It appears that there was an issue with our system when this order was placed that caused the order to have a "failed status".

I will transfer your case to our refunds department to release funds.
If there is anything else I we may assist you with, please inform us."

We'll see if I receive the funds...

jrhuang 04-09-2013 01:00 PM

Received my refund a few hours after receiving the previous response.

Ph4m 04-13-2013 03:20 PM

Haven't gotten my headset yet....
