Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STBV3000100 $99.99

Same deal as the current one from Staples, but from amazon. I thought the staples deal needed a filler item, but that was only for the $10 off coupon and doesn't apply anymore, so this only matches that deal.

Well, the Staples deal from before was for $89.99 - but that expired at midnight. The filler was only necessary for the extra $10 off coupon, so that no longer is necessary.

The Staples deal is still live, and this really only matches it. The free shipping is better at Staples (I'm in MA, and it shows a 4/2 delivery).

You're right, updated the post. I'm glad the prices are dropping in general though.

Lots of deals on this lately. Lowest price since november according to camelcamelcamel

luk350 04-02-2013 03:15 PM

Staples has it for same price after instant coupon, stack $25 off coupon and it will be cheaper than Amazon

ajafkari 04-02-2013 03:22 PM

I am seeing a price of $128.99.

--- Correction, it is now showing as $99.99 for me.

ajafkari 04-02-2013 03:49 PM

Does anyone know if there is a fair reason for me to hold off on this for the fact that it is the "Seagate Expansion" and not the "Backup Plus"?

Research has proved to be of little help except for uncovering a possible problem with heat in the Expansion v the Backup Plus that would reduce the drive's operating life.

needpricedeals2 04-02-2013 03:58 PM

Im tempted to get this at staples, but the reviews on this (3tb specifically) are not good. Since this will serve as a backup i dont want to be jeopardize my data.

However at $24 a terabyte, if you need a spare temp drive, that you can erase and copy stuff on repeatdly and dont really care about the data magically disappearing then you should buy this.

Seagate Backup Plus had a good deal of $120 for 4 Terabyte, which you could price match to Staples, and stack either a $10 or $25 coupon. However for some reason the backup plus has an issue with Windows Backup (you cannot use Microsofts tool, u have to use Seagates disc wizard tool instead).

The best I have found is WD, which appears to have a better reliability in reviews. Plus they also seem to address the software issues better with proactive patches.

NONETHELESS A DEAL IS A DEAL OP! Good Find! Thumbs up and Rep given!

so, what is the average cost of the coupon? then you still have to pay tax. I am tax free and free shipping and 3% back on my amazon card so the deal with staples is not worth the hassle

Thank you, that's what I thought. However, it still seems to be at $99.

EDIT: Never mind, I think you were talking about the Staples deal at $89 mentioned above.

or perhaps the fact that the drive inside is a 64mb cache 7200rpm sata 6gb/s drive, they plan to remove the drive and use as internals in raid... or even not in raid...
I picked up one of these for 90 at staples earlier this week, well 90.48 if you include the filler to use the 10 off coupon
Pretty easy to remove from the enclosure

Even better idea! Did you see the specs somewhere before buying or just relaying feedback?

Data sheet on Seagate.com site [seagate.com]

bizdady 04-05-2013 11:00 AM

Damn I just bought one Black Friday but Im already down to 1 TB left and my backup 1TB internal is dying out so figured Id get another 3TB :bounce:

Silvas 04-05-2013 11:00 AM

on the other thread someone posted that the reviews on newegg indicated that the drive was 64mb cache, 7200rpm sata 6gb/s... and 90 for a 3tb was pretty decent so I bit.
Pulled the drive out and it was correct. The drive inside was a ST3000DM001

How did you get it without tax from staples? Or did you not include that in your price?

Edit: it's now 97.99 at amazon!

Edit 2: Back to 99.99. Dang.
