QVC has the Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 R Micro ED Digital Zoom Lens in silver for $99.99 plus S&H, shipping, and tax here:

http://www.qvc.com/Olympus-40-150...?$uslarge$

This lens is for the olympus and panasonic micro four thirds cameras.

This is the lens on amazon for $199.00:

http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-M-Z...s+40-150mm

The description on QVC is very vague but members of the mu-43.com forum have confirmed that it is the new "R" version of the micro four thirds lens in Silver color.

BB88 04-03-2013 05:17 AM

The link is the older non R version

DDD424 04-03-2013 05:59 AM

The description is unclear but members for a popular micro four thirds forum report that they received the "R" version in silver.

glam 04-03-2013 06:17 AM

Picture shows 14-150.

DDD424 04-03-2013 06:34 AM

Yeah, qvc is all jacked up with their pictures. For their 17mm Olympus lens, they show the f1.8 lens in the picture but the description is for the f2.8. User on m43 forum reported receiving a R version silver 40-150mm. I wouldn't mind if they sent me the pictured lens though.

shnitz 04-03-2013 06:53 AM

Good price. I use this lens on my Panasonic G2 and really enjoy it.

If it's any consolation, even if you receive the non-R version, it is mechanically identical to the R version. The R rating came about because of the 14-42mm. It had slow autofocus initially, and then when they sped up the autofocus, it was still too noisy for video; your movies had the constant whirring of the lens' autofocus audible. So, they re-designed the 14-42mm and gave it the R designation, which let users know that it was acceptable for video use. With the 40-150mm, they realized that the lens already was highly enough designed for video use, so changed its looks and added the R to the name. The "old" version has the same optics, the same autofocus motor, same materials, etc.

How does this compare to Panny's 45-200mm Zoom Lens (besides the obvious longer zoom)?

This is what one reviewer said. "Far more compact and lighter then the Panasonic 45-200mm , seems sharper and on par with the reg 4/3 version." I had the 45-200mm but sold it because it was way too heavy and bulky for my GX1. I don't mind buying this but worry about not having OIS as Panasonic doesn't do IBIS.

deshwasi 04-03-2013 11:01 AM

whats the diff between older & newer "R" model?

I'm still waiting for this on backorder from Adorama. Is it 6 weeks now? Anyone else?

Still waiting. Just got an email response earlier today from them on the ETA.

"We apologize for the delay.

At this time we have the item on order. However, there is no official ETA from the manufacturer.

Please bear with us as we are the mercy of the manufacturer. We will ship the item as soon as it arrives.

We apologize for the inconvenience."

Is there an "easy" way to get micro 4/3 lenses on a "non-micro" 4/3 body?
Is that a silly thing to want to do?

I've seen adapters work the other way around (regular lens on a M4/3 body). I wouldn't know why you would want to though. From what I can tell, the non M4/3 lens are usually less expensive for equal quality/specs.

That's what I was wondering. Thank you!

I ordered mine on February 14th from Adorama and its still backordered. Got a couple emails from them since saying its sill on backorder and they don't know when they are getting more. Ive seen it got back on sale for $99 a few times since i ordered mine so I have no idea whats going on there. I hope I actually get it and they don't just cancel my order or something.

QVC is OOS now

saveitman 04-03-2013 06:34 PM

wasn't it waitlist only from the start of the thread?

Designx 04-03-2013 08:00 PM

Good deal - I'll wait the 45 days and see what happens - not in a hurry for this but now my really nice (and cheap) Olympus Pen camera bag is too small for a second lens - just big enough for camera and attached lens.

This is the bag ive been thinking about getting. Looks like it should be able to fit a camera with attahced lens plus 2 more lens. Price is right and its not too big which is what im looking for.

Just received in an e-mail that my lens are shipping. This is even with the backorder.

sautz1 04-09-2013 11:54 AM

Mine is on backorder and I noticed they have them in stock, so I emailed them a few days ago with the links and saying I'd be happy with black or silver... I got a canned response about them still waiting on the manufacturer and they don't know when they'll ship mine.
I'm going to call them one I get some time.

Received my lens from QVC yesterday. I can confirm it is the 'R' version. Or at least mine was.
