This is a pretty good deal too for an external DVD burner. I picked one up for my Macbook Air. AmazonBasics DVD Burner [amazon.com]

Normally $31.49, now $13.41.

Good deal on USB flash drives: 64GB starting at $15.46 [amazon.com]; 16GB starting at $4.80 [amazon.com].

also good deals on used sandisk extreme pros (95mb/s)

Anyone here have experience with used memory cards from Amazon?

remixedx3 04-16-2013 07:09 AM

I got two of the 64s for my BlackBerry Z10. Thank you!

yorkiemomkandis 04-16-2013 07:09 AM

Thanks! I wasn't aware Amazon made lightning cables. I'm always breaking mine or the ones I get off eBay just stop working. Hoping this one is a little better...

If it's in "like new" condition, you're good to go. These are INCREDIBLE prices! I snagged a couple 64gb and three 32gb.

OmnificOne 04-16-2013 07:15 AM

Grabbed one of the 32 gig MicroSD cards, great deal, repped!

javaking_1000 04-16-2013 07:15 AM

Nice deal! Picked up a SanDisk Extreme 32 GB SDHC Class 10, like new for $15 and change. I've been looking for a deal on a 16 or 32GB SanDisk Extreme for months now!

Thanks OP!

From past experience, Amazon Warehouse like new items have been in package still, but the packaging maybe have been slightly damaged, so they can't sell it as new anymore.

Personally I would spend a little more for the like new condition. The good or very good ones, might have been customer returns.

The lightening cable is great quality and pretty long too. I bought a new one from Amazon two weeks ago for $14. Dang it! I should've known they would eventually put these on their warehouse deals. The Amazon cable is much better quality than what Apple provides.

ram4miles 04-16-2013 07:21 AM

Thanks OP. I got the lightning cable.

Daddyofthree 04-16-2013 07:21 AM

Sandisk recently admitted that at least some of their MicroSD cards had issues, I assume it has been fixed but just FYI if you have a gopro or high performance smartphone, their Ultra card has disappointed a lot of people.

lantzuh 04-16-2013 07:22 AM

great deal but i cant risk losing my data if this is a used product :/

TheBeginning 04-16-2013 07:22 AM

Sick deal on the 64gb micro sd. Already have 2 for my 10inch and 7 inch tablet. Grabbed yet another one for my phone.

Why would you trust any non-redundant storage to such vital data?

Hefner413 04-16-2013 07:26 AM

For you android phone users.... I'm likely going to be getting my first android phone this July (tired of my iPhone and I'm up for contract renewal in July)... I'm not settled on a phone yet, but from what I understand, most have microSD expansions, correct? Should I pick up a 64gb? TIA.

I've heard the same on at least the 64gb cards. I'm not sure what the resolution is (replacements?), but it would suck to lose data because of it.

Actually, I'm seeing a lot of phones move to internal storage, but many still have external storage. You would certainly pay a lot more for that 64GB to be internal rather than external!

Yes most have microSD. And it all depends on how much storage you need (how many apps you plan on having, pics, etc) and how much internal memory the phone you want already has.

Amazon cables are really good. I use one on my ipad 2 and one for my nexus 4. I use the ipad one daily and its still working. cheap cables usually last 2 months before they stop working and this one still charges and sync after 6 months of heavy daily use.

Thanks OP!! Just picked up the MicroSD card for music on my phone. I've heard similar things about issues with them but for this price it's worth the risk. I won't have anything on there that isn't also on my PC so I'm not too worried.

Awesome deal on the 64 GB Microsd.

Just a heads up, but I ordered a Vita in "Like New" condition last summer, and they're not kidding. Came with everything, everything was in pristine condition, couldn't even tell it was touched. Would never hesitate to order "Like New" from Amazon Warehouse.

Samsung has microSD cards, htc seems to be passing on them.

Note that some Samsung phones have issues with SanDisk older ultra cards that are manufactured last year. I don't know which these are, but I would pass if you have a Samsung phone

It's important to learn to cite and also not be a condescending ass. This is an issue I never heard of on XDA and which the article itself states seems to affect a small percentage of users who have Galaxy S3.

So if you don't have an S3 you should be in the clear if going from what this article. If you have one, you shoudl be fine anyways.

Thanks for wasting everyone's time in the first place moron.

I can only see 64 gb for $49, not $23, do I look at the wrong section?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-li...328&sr=1-6

I think used sd card would be ok, ssd has about 1 million write/read lifetime, so unless the card is being abused, it's almost impossible to go to near close to 1 million lifetime

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Sandisk does their warranty based on serial #, so these cards should still be covered by the lifetime warranty.

Bought 2 of these in used-very good condition: SanDisk Ultra 64 GB SDXC Class 10 Flash Memory Card 30MB/s SDSDU-064G-AFFP for 21.86 + tax each. Needed for Canon Vixia HD camcorder. Good deal?

I wonder this too. I saw this posted first thing, got sidetracked at work, and missed out. I need a handful of additional cards for vacation and wish I had just ordered first thing today.

Pretty true. Many C6 and C10 cards are good for high speed sequential writes, but can suck on random activity like you'd find in a tablet or phone. The sandisk C4 products usually get great marks for random reads/writes, often superior to more expensive higher 'class' cards. The class thing is also nearly complete BS as there is huge variances in the performance within those classes.

So look at benchies, buy the card that suits the need. A c10 with great sequential write performance for HD video recordings, perhaps a sandisk C4 for most other applications in tablets and phones.

oh man, I was so close to checking out before I realized your link is for the class 4 (as you clearly mentioned, I just didn't read it lol) - still a good deal, thanks!

Baguda 04-18-2013 07:28 AM

Up until this thread I didn't even know Amazon sold used SD, micro SD and USB flash drives. Since flash devices have a limited number of read/write cycles, unless the used devices are lightly used I'd be concerned they may not have much life left on them and wouldn't be worth the discounted prices. Just when I thought I've seen everything, I see something new, though I haven't yet seen Amazon sell used underwear yet.

Never heard of a lightning cable. Apparently it's a new proprietary interface cable for newer Apple iPhones and iPod Touches. My only Apple device, a 4th generation iPod Touch, doesn't have that type of connector.

Good that you realized in time. I bought it to use to Root and load CM10 on my Nook Tablet. I have read that this card (Class 4) is the best for that purpose.

also good deals on used sandisk extreme pro (95mb/s, i added links to wiki)

SGogo 04-18-2013 11:58 AM

I am wary of these...

Sandisk has a lot of fake cards in circulation. These have slower speeds, shorter lifespans, or other problems that are not always easy to see immediately.

I generally only buy Sandisk from Amazon (or another reputable distributor) to make sure I do not get a fake.

How do we know somebody didn't buy the real one from Amazon, then return a fake in the package?

Amazon clearly isn't able to test the returns...

I had a friend who recently got taken on a sandisk 64GB CF card. Bought from some random vendor, not amazon.

It showed up as 64GB, formatted fine, but would not take burst shots on his Nikon D700, it was just to slow. He then found out was a fake. They look pretty much like the real ones...

I think these guys print up labels, then buy something like this and put the labels on them:

Oh. In that case if that had been mentioned and I had seen this thread in time I would've bought some too. When Logitech sells new product like this they call it "dented box". When Amazon says "used" to me that means it has been used by someone else. They should used different words, though I know getting Amazon to do anything is like 1 person trying to push a sleeping giant.

Regulus 04-19-2013 08:03 AM

I bought four of the 64 gb cards. Only one of them was in a sealed package. The other three were in plastic baggies, and at least two showed signs of previous use. I have tested three of them so far with H2testw. Two of them tested out OK. One of the cards only shows 30 gb capacity even though it is labeled 64gb, so that one at least is a counterfeit and will be going back to Amazon.

On the ones that showed 64GB... did they prove out at 95MB speeds?

I wonder if there any other way to test if these are real?

I don't know what speeds these cards are supposed to have, but H2testw is reporting about 8.2 MByte/s write and 17.4 MByte/s read. This has been pretty consistent for the three of the four cards that are the correct capacity (64gb). This is using a USB 2.0 adapter.

These numbers sound slow...

The amazon buyers of the new ones posted ~75-90MB/s using crystal disk mark on sequential... but you might be limited by your adapter.

I am not sure the best way to test if you dont have usb3 reader or a fairly new computer with a bus connected card reader.

Maybe somebody else can chime in.

On closer inspection, the one that doesn't work has a noticeably darker shade of read

SanDisk Mobile Ultra 30MB/s or Extreme 95MB/s?

They were Ultra's. The fourth one was OK, so three out of the four were OK capacity wise, maybe not speed wise. Looks like people on Amazon were getting around 10-11 write and 20 read, so mine were running about 15-20% slower. I think I read someone somewhere got speeds more like I got, so I'm not convinced they're fakes, especially since the capacities were correct for the three, and there were no defects detected on them.

H2testw is more rigorous on finding bad flash, rather than getting potential max speed. I have similar results to yours as well.

You should be able to run CrystalDiskMark, 5 x 100MB and get around 19-20 MB/s read and 11-12MB/s write.

If you had USB 3.0, read goes up to 42-44MB/s!

I bought the 64gb microSDHC. There are already two folders in the card: Music and 'Tablet Work'. Scanned with a file recovery program to determine when the card was returned (and if anything interesting), and found 1897 mp3 music files. If you end up returning this, you really should do a 'complete format'. The card was last used Feb 11, 2013 (and the songs are in a genre that I never listens to...)

p.s. I probably should not have scanned it and it may be morally wrong by some standards.

RMA to Sandisk? It should be covered by the lifetime warranty. That way you can at least be assured of getting a new, genuine card.

Yeah, I entered an rma yesterday. I'm not confident SanDisk is going to accept the Amazon invoice that says it is a "used" card. Also not confident that if they do accept the rma, that when they receive the card they find it to be a legitimate SanDisk.

I was able to get it formatted by doing a full format, but it still failed during the h2test after about a gig of written data. Also had slow write speeds, only about 40mb/s.

Started the return process with Amazon as well.

MrScientist 04-27-2013 05:34 AM

my rma was accepted. if anyone else is going to try it, on the rma form, they ask for how the product was packaged. i answered "as advertised." that way i was still being honest (it was packaged as amazon advertised) and it didn't sound like someone just threw a card in a plastic bag and hoped for the best (which is what really happened).

since they accepted the rma which had the serial number on it, that also means my card was legit, just bad.

great rma process btw! sent a ups shipping label so i don't have to pay for shipping.

GG5072 04-28-2013 05:04 AM

Does anyone have an idea if these are genuine ones ? Many SD card sold for cheap generally are bogus and the do show the disk space what they promise to have but actually they got only 2 GB space and once you are over 2GB, they overwrite on the old data without even prompting.

BarackHObama 04-29-2013 10:39 AM
