i think the "iHome for android devices" is $5 at my local staples 3 weeks ago.

qrychefan 04-18-2013 09:17 AM

It was $19.90 on Saturday of last week at two stores around me. Will check on the IPod one when we go this weekend.

Plug in the SKU where partNumber=XXXXXX

Also look close as the Low Stock will appear grayed out.

That is the nicest feeling and worst funtioning keyboard ever invented. Returned two of them, I think Microsoft released without testing at all. Range is 18 inches, and still there was stutter after repeated installs.

Scored a ID91 for 24.99. They had some for Android devices too for 12.50, but wasn't interested. Thanks OP. Repped.

These are on the standard staples clearance schedule, in 3-6 weeks these will be 90% or 95% off, at bit more than the 75% off they are at now...I'd reccomend waiting till that final drop ( aka 90% off).

Might be sold out by then, can you get cash back if you bring in a receipt?

I doubt they would do cash back for clearance items.
You could return since you're not satisfied then re-buy it then if they are still in stock.

fl00b 04-18-2013 01:47 PM

I had the 6000 keyboard which is the same one as this but included the number pad as a separate bluetooth accessory and hated it. It's a great design but suffers from range issues and it tries to save power by turning itself off or something after a while so you have to wait for it to "wake up" again after pressing a key before your key presses are recognized. I originally bought it for HTPC use but it pissed me off so bad one day I threw it across the room and broke it. Good thing I only paid $10 for it when it was on sale.

I live an hour away from the decent stores. I don't have the luxury of waiting. Have to head over that way to get some Prom shopping done for my daughter SO no extra trip. $10.00 more is okay with me.

Thanks so much! I was at BJs earlier today and purchased the iHome for Android for $40. Sooo not a slickdeal. I saw your post and took a 15min ride to my Staples even though it showed no stock. Low and behold it was there on the shelf, at retail but rang up for $12.50. :)

Repped!

busdepot 04-18-2013 05:57 PM

At my Staples the Android iHome rang up at $19.99. He marked it down to $14.99 for me but wouldn't do $12.50.

My Staples doesn't mark either which is great, except for when I'm trying to discover a deal not already posted on SD. Wish there was a way to find out the price of an item at a local store without having to bring it to the register for a price check, or alerting an employee by bringing the employee to the item for a price check...

It is if your micro USB hookup is on the bottom or side of your phone. Mine is on top, so not as functional as it might be. I actually thought it didn't matter which side was up, but my phone, LG Marquee, only wants to go in one direction

Yea the 3.5 wire and micro usb wire is short but you can always buy your own wires long enough to reach your Marquee? I have an Amaze 4g and LG Nexus. Should fit.

game4life 04-18-2013 08:57 PM

I never see the clearance items at my Staples. Do they have a table or a section in the back of the store? Or is it just simply marked down in the appropriate aisles?

I feel like I never find these clearance items cause someone from SD comes and picks them all up before I get there, LOL

Sometimes they are on the table...other times they will be still in the case (next to other mp3/tablet speakers/radios).

mrtrance 04-18-2013 09:48 PM

Are you guys finding these on the shelves or are they in the back and you have to ask them to check stock. My local staples had neither of the iHome products on the shelf or tags and when I had them check inventory they said none was available (even though it shows low stock clearance on the site and by chat rep told me store had 3 of the android ones).

Is there another section where these might be since the only spot I checked were where other iHome and headphones are stocked on the shelf next to the cell phone aisle.

Is there some case at staples that stock mp3s and other items that I am not aware of?

The ihome should be next to the headphone/earbuds sections. Note there are 2 earbuds sections, and it should be in the section where you see sony/skullcandy earbuds. Well it really depends on the store though, since their planograms are different depending on the size and layout of the store.

Bingo! The ihomes for the android and kindle are most likely in mid stock or the clearance section. The one for the iPhone is likely to be on the shelf by the earbuds

How come it was ringing up at a different price at your store? Isn't a .50 means it is a national clearance? Anyone else getting a difference price for this instead of the $12.50?

These are listed as this at my staples;

ihome ios - clearance 69
ihome android - clearance 49
Keyboard - 49

They ring up right, just really marked wrong.

They were above the ink behind a curtain. The store still has 3 in stock and a few android.
I also got my 5% rewards and took in 10 dead ink cartridges for an extra $10 in rewards come June.

the aftermarket ones don't work? they overcharge like crazy for that adapter... sheesh.. plus I think they only offer it in white which is kinda ugly considering the unit is black, iphone 5 is black... sigh

zyx987 04-19-2013 04:09 PM

any opinions on using the Android one with s3?

The bottom of the phone is not touching the base ( there is no support on either side of the micro-USB plug ) so the phone basically sits on the plug leans to the side and wobbles. I'm afraid it may result in problems with the micro-USB port down the road. Any thoughts?

I mean you can try but from my experience since lighting was released, after market lightning to 30 won't do anything with docks.

jonhern 04-19-2013 05:04 PM

went to a staples that said they had both at low stock clearance. They had them but listed at full price. Took it up and rang up at op listed price. I got two android ones and my brother got two iphone ones. Thanks.

also there are some mac formatted portable hard drives half off clearance. $51.50 for the 1 tb one and $41.50 for the 500 gb. western digital brand. once i find my receipt ill post sku in a separate thread.

Bought the ihome for android from office depot a couple of days ago using $20 worth of free wrapp OD gcs and a $10 off $40 competitor coupon from office max, spent $15 oop. Went to Staples yesterday and picked up 2 ihome for android for $27.xx. Took back the one from OD and the clerk gave me the refund entirely in cash ($34.xx)! So figuring the $20 in gcs that I got refunded as cash I paid $7.69 for both ihome for androids. Thanks OP, I'm glad I saw your post!

Can you stick something in between the space so that you can make the phone touch the bast? Modeling clay comes to mind, since it is so moldable, removable and cheap, but I am sure that there is another slickdealer out there that can offer up a better idea.
I do agree with you that the phone hanging onto the plug and leaning to the side is probably not the best idea.

Looks to be the same as the android ihome, just with a red base instead.

yeah, mine is doing the same thing. The iphone one is definitely better, but they only had to design that for one phone, the android one needs to be used with so many different kinds of phones so you get a clumsy design with having to plug it in by usb and head phone jack. My brother got the iphone one and it comes with a remote which is pretty nice as well. The Bluetooth ones for andriod are probably the way to go, but $12 is a good price for what you get, would have returned it if i had paid full price for this thing.

cosigning on the iphone one being better.
I haven't used the remote yet (and I am sure that I will lose it soon), but I did put my ipad on it WITH THE CASE ON and I was still able to get it to charge. If I would have known that I could charge it with a case on it, I would have paid full price for it a few years ago!
LOVE THAT THING- (thanks again op!)

The android charger isn't all that special for me either. I will probably try to mod it into a charger for something else. The prongs look like the might fit the gps...
That is what I get for not testing it out in the store. I fell in love with the price and decided that I was going to roll with it x2.
At least it doesn't take up too much space in the closet!

The one in Camelback over by Best Buy had about 8 or 9 & elliot rd about 5 id91 yesterday still tagged at 99.99, but we all know what they're ringing up. Actually all the damn stores here in AZ still have $99.99 tags still by them...I smell employee re-sellers all over this damn town lol....I was forced to buy 1 @ $25 by the little 1 while on vacation, but will wait till they hit about $10 to clean out my town!

I got the last one at the Naperville store. It was in upstock and not on the shelves. It took the salesman about 10 minutes to find its hiding spot. Thanks OP. I have been wanting a device to play and charge my iPod touch.

Iced_Thi 04-24-2013 09:19 AM

I went to 2 of my local Staples stores. The first one had it marked as $69.99 on the shelf, but it rang up at $24.50. Tried to use the OfficeMax 25% off coupon and was told that they do not accept competitor coupons.

The 2nd Staples I went to had it marked as $49.99 but it rang up as $24.50 again. I asked the cashier if they accept competitor coupons and he took one glance at the coupon and accepted it. Ended up being $18.38 + tax = $19.90. Pretty good deal.

Link to OfficeMax 25% off coupon, YMMV if they will accept it:

Hooked it up last night and am overall pleased with the sound quality. I like that I didn't have to remove the case on the iPod Touch to use it. The remote is also convenient and the overall look is pretty nice.

In case you were looking for something to do with the Android iHome, this is what I did.

I picked up one of the Android iHome alarms at my local staples. First, I tried charging my Android on it but, like many of the reviews on Amazon stated, the phone feels too precarious when perched on top of the microusb charger. Plus I didn't like the way I would have to plug in the audio every time I wanted to play music on my phone.

Rather than give up, I started thinking about other things I could do with this and I decided to make it a Bluetooth radio.

I found this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/HomeSpot-NF...s=homespot and it was perfect. It was small, powered by microusb, and as a bonus it paired via NFC. There were some smaller Bluetooth adapters out there, but they were battery powered and charged via microusb, but I figured that since the battery wasn't necessary, that this would be a better solution. An additional bonus was all the cables included with this.

Unfortunately, it went out of stock for a few days, so I only just got it today. It's exactly what I was looking for. It's tiny, and mounts right on the dock. NFC pairing works great.

If you want to get creative, you could open it up and fit the circuit board entirely within the cubby in the radio and then hide the NFC antenna in the dock. I started doing this (hint, the case screws are hidden under the feet), but I stripped one of the screws holding the circuit board in I was unable to remove it. Maybe sometime in the future.

My only complaint is that it is quieter than I was expecting, but for $40, you have a great alarm clock radio with Bluetooth audio.

Yes but the published list of items had to be taken down due to abuse. As a result I scored a WD My Passport HD for $38.50 - $7.70 (20% coupon) = $30.80. Oh and I found the mobile keyboard for $12.50. Staples Clearances rock. Too bad we can't get the reports anymore.
