it's a no brainer that they're dumping stock because the new one's due
Walmart has it for $299 and it's been that way since the beginning of this month... you might not have a brain if you think this is a deal.

? Correct. Not sure what "an Android thread" even means...Not sure how you can have an "android thread" on slickdeals...since I have never seen a sale on android...

This device is far from worth $298... at $199 it would be a warm deal....

frazo 04-20-2013 01:28 PM

OOS now...Oh well.

manu1 04-20-2013 04:33 PM

When the second gen Nexus 7 is out with a 1920x1080 display and you're holding your two-month-old first gen iPad Mini with a 1024x768 display, then tell me how much of a no-brainer it was.

I fail to see how thats relevant. Retina iPad and Nexus 10 have much higher-res displays then other tablets on market, and people are still buying other options

What happens 6 months down the road with a 2048x1536 mini comes out with nearly 40% more screen real estate and better support for tablet apps and you're holding a 2 month old nexus 7. Then 6 months after that...and 6 months after that :lmao:

Doesn't matter - Android tablets and Apple tablets aren't really in the same ballpark. I have a Nexus 7 and most of the apps are just scaled up phone apps, resolution won't improve things honestly. People have picked sides so comparing android to apple is pointless. I much prefer my android phone over an iphone but I prefer ipads over nexus tablets.

I can't stand tablets with 16:9 screen ratios (or 16:10 for that matter :)).

I think most of us are just comparing savings vs available/upcoming technology.
If I were in the market for an ipad, I still wouldn't be springing on a $30 savings for an end of cycle unit; that's just a bad deal

superfizzo 04-20-2013 08:18 PM

Nobody who wants an Apple is willing to pay this low of a price. Don't they know that paying twice what the computer should cost is what makes Apple so superior to it's counterparts???

My wife paid $800 for hers plus a Michael Kors Case....she doesn't believe in slickdeals apparently...time to leave.

socal9 04-20-2013 08:36 PM

Wow, front page deal with a +5 rating. Is this a record?

Always true, but the 1st gen mini wasn't designed as a long cycle product. Expect the second generation to be a substantial improvement; worth the wait, and the extra $30 ;)

This is true. Hopefully iOS7, and the next gen iPads will bring something impressive to the table.

when yer holding your nexus 7 v2, I'll be holding my ipad mini v2 with the same display... and you'll just be dealing with a craptastic android store that distributes phone apps for tablet screens.. enjoy those scaled apps.
