$5 Credit on rockstar games for 1 year

Links are :LIVE!

Deals:Some Other Titles $5 w/ $5 Gaming Credit (Thanks Slomo4shO)credit to dvg

wikipost 05-09-2013 02:58 PM

This post can and should be edited by users like you :)

With regard to the $5 credit, Tony, the Amazon Digital Game rep said the following over on CAG:

Quote:

2. This is me, telling you, do not immediately use the $5 credit, wait, at minimum until 5/29.
So there must be a big deal in the offing that Tony suggests you may wish to hold off a bit before spending your credit. I think it will be a special price on bundled Rockstar games, "As for things in bundles: Max Payne 3, GTA IV, L.A. Noire, GTA IV Complete, L.A. Noire Complete, GTA San Andreas".

There are separate pages for some games; one provides a game code for Steam, another is simply noted as "Download". People often ask if the games will activate on Steam, so if one allows for it and the other doesn't, it may be worth noting.

So if you buy manhunt and get the $5 credit, can you apply that credit towards manhunt 2 and get another credit?

Here's what I am seeing...

$5 coupon to use on Rockstar products for 1 year.

Couple of things about this promotion:

1. The $5 credit can only be used on stuff that is more than $5.
2. You can't get credit with credit purchases from the same promotion. This is a hardcoded system limitation.

So techinally no, but if you buy both games...you will get two $5 credits good for one year and there's going to be many big sales before the end of the year which the credits will prove to be valuable to use on those rockstar games :D

do you know if these credits can be combined to purchase something. or can only one $5 off credit be used on a purchase at a time?

Tony stated on CAG that "as always, credits do not stack".

The other thing he stated was "2. This is me, telling you, do not immediately use the $5 credit, wait, at minimum until 5/29. " Think I'll put that in the Wiki.

On the page it says "Credit must be used by 5/28/2014" but if I click 'here's how' and read the restrictions, under #3 it says "The promotional credit must be used by May 28, 2013."

So does it expire this month or in a year? Anyone know for sure?

TIA!
:)

Manhunt doesn't work on Win7 or later so it isn't much use buying it just to get the credit unless you have XP and plan to keep XP for a while.

Edit: WilliamG told me to web search and I found this http://www.gzwn.net/manhuntpatcher/

Not true. Even a cursory search for "Manhunt Windows 7" will show you numerous ways to make the game work in seconds.

Does this work with Windows Vista?

Just noticed that it's not on steam. Lame.

Nate650 05-11-2013 01:16 AM

Oh man, memories. I used to love riding the lowrider bikes with the long handlebars and watch the wind blow your hair in Vice City. Sometimes I actually felt I was on the bike. When you get that immersed in a game, you know the developers succeeded. :)

Midnight Club II is old but a great game. Online play is super fun stuff.

Probably won't play these games. Only for XP. Reviews said game messed up their computer. Only want the $5 coupon.

You don't deserve to use a gaming computer if a game manages to mess up your entire OS.

Foladar 05-11-2013 04:43 AM

I really am tempted to get GTA: VC but not sure what that $5 offer will be on May 29th, and I don't really buy PC games. Decisions..

Is there a way to buy a second game in this promotion without using the promotional credit on the 2nd game?

I guess making a second amazon account would be an option because it's auto applied right?.

gonepostl 05-11-2013 09:23 AM

Meh, these games are too old. Good deal if you're reminiscing I suppose but I don't even want em for free.

That's moronic, why spend more money than the credit you'll receive for games you won't play?

krazymop 05-11-2013 09:38 AM

Nice. My 7 year old loves Manhunt. Time to get part 2.

Well serious or not, Manhunt 2 is generally regarded as the worse of the two.

I actually meant to emphasize the 7 year old playing Manhunt thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "video games are responsible for violence" people, but I would say a majority of people would find it odd a seven year-old is playing it. I think more than anything it isn't the choice of the parent letting them play it, but the fact that at 7 it would even be enjoyed. I could see them enjoying something like GTA because of its freedom, but not Manhunt.

Well, whatever. Just as long as the boy or girl doesn't decide to roleplay Manhunt with his or her friends. :omg:

Well said. man. Parents should be charged together with the kid when investigation found that " the kid has been an avid player of Call of Duty since he was 13 years old". It's a parenting problem; do not blame games..

I got both Manhunt and Manhunt 2, and have yet to find a working fix for the first game. It keeps crashing whenever I hide a body in the shadows.
