no touchscreen like the other guy said. and when it comes to hybrid SSD's does 24 vs 32 really make a difference? I mean all it has on there is the OS... how helpful can 8 gigs of extra SSD space be.

How would they know? Do they bubble wrap it?

quyngoc89 05-13-2013 07:15 PM

I would bite if it's $499 like it was on Cyber Monday. Still a good price though.

odguy10 05-13-2013 07:18 PM

Hows battery life? Can i finish a movie on the plane? Is playback of 1080p mkv smooth? Thank you.

I believe the one from Cyber Monday was a different one (the UH51T)...

I don't own this myself but according to this post in a previous thread on the DH51T you can upgrade it.

bjw1020 05-13-2013 08:16 PM

I'll wait till it becomes $500 or lower... :D

Happy

I was lucky to get this computer for around the same price from Best Buy last month, it has 6gb ram instead of 4...otherwise same thing. Very happy with my purchase but I bought it for basic home use. Battery life sucks (about 3hrs) if you leave it on full brightness, but I'm happy cause it works over 4 hrs on 50% or less brightness. Very lightweight (more like 4lbs than 4.5). No backlit keyboard, but I touch type, and there's an on screen (touch screen) keyboard that pops up in Windows 8 and goes away if you start using the manual keyboard.

For those that want a bigger heavier version, there's the s500 for close to this pricing (more or less $50). I wanted light weight.

So overall happy and great price... Hope this helps your decision.

How useful is the touchscreen? I noticed they were becoming more common ever since windows 8 came out, and was wondering if there's a connection there. Also, how much would you say a touchscreen is worth? If I were to get the exact same laptop, but without the touchscreen, how much would it cost?

Windows 8 was designed with a touch interface in mind... It's only logical to have touchscreen hardware to follow.

I believe you can't use it. Give it a try

Anyone have any idea when this resolution will be permanently phased out (like 640x480 and 1024x768)?

vvakko 05-14-2013 12:26 AM

Am I the only one who think the ultrabooks should last longer than 6 hours? the whole idea of ub laptop is portability and I don't want to be stuck to an outlet all day

I would suggest contacting their customer service this morning. Obviously you won't be able to actually use the coupon on ebay direct, but they may do something like refunding you the $50 for the gift card after the sale. I would contact them through their web site as oppose to eBay - Not sure eBay would be to keen on losing their cut on those $50. It can't hurt to try.

Their customer service is usually pretty good in my experience

In theory that makes sense and I agree with you. The only problem is when making a computer that small the battery can't be that big. At this point I don't think they've figured out how you can have a computer with that small of a battery last 6 hours.

Probably in 20 years from now! To most people this is perfectly fine and if this can give them a better price than why not?

piscean 05-14-2013 08:45 AM

Good laptop but only if take the risk of not returning it even if it is broken. I will never buy one from adorama.

Adorama is a Jewish owned business. They're closed until Friday for Shavuot. I don't know how they work their Ebay account, but you may not receive much till then.

Squilly 05-15-2013 12:08 PM

Is Windows 8 preloaded on the SSD?

Thanks, that helps. Hopefully I hear from them soon, as I paid for expedited shipping and need the lappy before next Friday...

No, Win 8 is on main. SSD used for quick start ups (mine starts in 3 to 5 seconds)
