Will you be making this level of witty repartee for all clothing deals posted here? If so, I for one can't wait to see your level of disappointment when you find out Banana Republic clothing doesn't actually have bananas on it.

flychica 05-15-2013 02:47 PM

Swim is discounted too! Awesome stuff!

amypalmer25 05-15-2013 04:30 PM

I kinda agree with maddog2099. "Origin Penguin" is a silly and confusing name for a clothing brand. Besides, I was hoping to see some penguins too :)

VWGator 05-15-2013 05:43 PM

Purchased some polos

The shirts seem about as thin-built as Express, which I suppose is a little thinner than GAP. If that helps...

If you don't see penguins, you aren't looking at the pictures.

They plaster their penguin logo on just about everything they sell.

RealD3Al 05-15-2013 06:51 PM

eh...prices still a bit high...marshalls carries Penguin brand..T-Shirts are around $15-20$...shoes in the $30's...just bought some sandals for 12.99 same ones on the site are 35.99...ill pass

Go a size bigger than you normally would. After you run them through the washer a few times they shrink to the normal size and fit well. I purchased 4 polos last year and found that out, thanks OP bought 2 more polos and 2 tshirts!

Those shoes are some of the best looking casual shoes I've ever seen. DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) had them in brown and navy for $69.99.

Just out of curiosity...are your feet narrow? Many reviews state that standard or wide feed need not apply.

wide18receiver 05-15-2013 07:06 PM

How are the sizing of the shoes compared to other companies? I am looking at the Penguin loafers... I wear a size 11 in Nike if that helps.

It's actually called "Original Penguin," and since it's been since the mid-50's I'm guessing they're sticking with the name despite the confusion it's causing some people.

I'm waiting on this info as well...particularly for those of us with wide feet...

littlesashimi 05-15-2013 07:19 PM

bought some shirts at the store last week since they have the 30% entire store deal. i would say they have a bigger selection of ties at the store. as for clearance shirts it depends on which store you go. bf normally wears medium but when he does laundry he throws ALL this clothes into the dryer so the lady suggested getting large. just to give you guys some comparison the bf wears medium for H&M clothes.

Thats what you call a 3rd degree BURNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! Although they are sorta small and not as well known as other brand, Original Penguin make great clothing. I love their ties really colorful bought a few way back myself full price. Sux for me. I recommend!

I'm not the OP but I have those same shoes (bought in a similar sale). My feet are narrow, and penguin shoes tend to fit my feet better than almost any other brand. So if your feet are not narrow, they might not be for you.

I guess standard. I'm 5'7 and weigh 140, if that's helps. I'd post a pic of my foot, but I won't have access to a comp for a bit and some ppl might have a foot fetish on here.
Anyways, they fit my feet perfectly.
My foot is about as wide as one square of toilet paper. Hope that helps.
And yes, these shoes are damn pretty. I did order the backup pair.

For the last couple of months, they've only had 9,9.5, and 10, I think. It makes me think they stopped making this particular shoe and just getting rid of what they have. I wear 9.5 so it works for me.
Besides, I have an above average package, so I'm fine with my current foot size than having clown feet. =P

Rewatching Rescue Me and so far Garrity has worn a Penguin shirt and Tommy has worn a few.
Things you notice later...

Their polos are cut pretty slim. I wear a large in most brands (Charles Tyrwhitt, Perry Ellis, Ralph Lauren) or a medium in some others (JAB) and couldn't even pretend to squeeze into any size of their "Heritage Fit" clothing. I even upsize to XXL in their "Classic Fit" polos.

mr.green 05-16-2013 08:15 AM

This.

Won't have as great a selection but the prices at Marshalls are about 50% less than this "sale".

duenor 05-16-2013 08:23 AM

great clothes for dainty men.

Marshalls selection for Penguin is mediocre at best though, at least in my location. Youre definitely not going to find print shirts or oxfords. All Ive seen are plain or ugly polos and t shirts with a blaring Penguin logo.

Yep. Website portrays some pretty skinny people.

Maybe I shouldn't even make an attempt to wear this brand.

iviyth0s 05-16-2013 11:22 AM

So overpriced, sale or not...

duenor 05-16-2013 12:05 PM

They're not just skinny.... they look atrophied, lethargic, and possibly infected with some sort of unpleasant VD.

True. All depends on where you are.

blurped 05-16-2013 12:23 PM

Where the hell is the clearance or sale items? TF

F%^$ original penguin. I bought pants and a hole formed after two weeks.

c4chomdetta 05-16-2013 07:52 PM

I never tried their clothes, but their shoes are awesome. I like a lot of the styles and they're really comfy. Pretty pricey though, I usually get them only when I can get a 40% code.

ya i agree. $30 for a "clearance" t shirt still doesn't seem like much of a sale. That being said I have found some excellent deals on this site during some of their past sales, I think it's a function of them having extra of certain inventory (& therefore reasonable pricing before coupon) and getting free shipping.

FernandoVenezuela 05-17-2013 07:25 AM
