DO NOT TYPE IN THE LINK ABOVE, THEN GET TO THE ERROR PAGE AND THEN ENTER IN A VIN NUMBER. IF YOU DO, IT WILL ASK FOR $$.. YOU MUST MODIFY THE ACTUAL LINK ABOVE AND THEN PUT THAT IN THE ADDRESS BAR OF YOUR WEB BROWSER!!

Chai 05-22-2013 10:57 PM

repost, and it only works if a dealer already paid for the report. does not work on new cars.

pinsomniac 05-22-2013 10:57 PM

Really? I'm not sure reposting your own thread is going to give this any more traction.

mswillis5 05-22-2013 10:57 PM

Why did you post this again? Still took me to the purchase a report page.

Tried with this VIN 1G4AG54N5M6459350. Still no go.

How will you "prove" that this works? By looking up a VIN using your paid account?

This does not work.

The only way to get a free report is to list the car up for sale on eBay, and then getting their report.

Yes they do rofl. They tell the manufacture/import date and according to carfax, there are 2 records for those cars.

Here try this one, nearly new.

Its been a great car but I'm curious.
I actually found papers from previous owners in the car so I'm sure there have been at least 3+me.
My timing belt just broke and I had the dealer change it so that should be in there.

Can someone post the right link again ....

JeanDongb743 12-16-2013 01:41 AM

That link works only if someone had previously paid for the report. If it is a new car, it will not work. I suggest you get a cheap vehicle report here: http://www.vinaudit.com/coupon=DLS_50OFF
Only $4.99

Zenbrie 03-05-2014 10:37 AM

Can someone with a Carfax subscription let me purchase 1 report?

MichaelH2974 06-11-2014 05:57 PM

I ran a report using VinCarHistory.com on a 2012 Chevy Cruze available at Hertz Car Sales VIN: 1G1PG5SC0C7199389 I ran a report and it came up clean, no accident and rating it 96 out of 100. YET, Hertz acknowledged that the car was involved in a side impact car crash in July 2013. There is a lot of overs pray on the molding, uneven paint and a paint run. I took the car to a body shop and was told that repair was shoddy and the quarter panel has a lot of filler and then painted over. The body shop said if I wanted to make it right, it would cost just over $2,000. I am curious if Car Fax has a report of the accident. It is a previous rental car.

No vehicle service company knows everything - that's a fantasy. If you, for example, hit your spouse's car on the driveway and don't report it to anybody - than no vehicle history service company will know about it. Or if you have an accident in one of the thousands of locations where accident records are still kept on paper and not on a computer - it's not going to be gathered by any company.

Carfax states "CARFAX Vehicle History Reports are based on information supplied to CARFAX. CARFAX does not have the complete history of every vehicle."

Carfax has the most data; Autocheck 2nd and the other services are a distant 3rd. But none of them have, nor will they ever have, all the data.

Only way to fully prevent repair showing up on any report is to have it fixed yourself. If you file a claim through your insurance company and get your car fixed, it might not show up on carfax but it will show up on CLUE report that insurance company uses.
