how are those headphones?

and take notice everyone McAfee and AVG are 1 REBATE PER PRODUCT TITLE PER YEAR PER ADDRESS... 1PC and 3PC are generally separate product titles (at least as far as people have reported)

I had to do some repair on my beloved SONYs that I told you about... must have stretched the cord going into the earpiece... luckly it allowed me access and I was able to rig it a little... hope it lasts otherwise Im gonna have to go buy a new pair of them and then turn the bad one in for warranty (like you did :worship: )

Sounds like a plan. You're gonna have to be forceful to get a return shipping label though. The Sony CSR didn't give in until I gave them the business. :boxing:

trying to figure out if its worth using one of my remaining coupon codes on a damn $5 cable...

stamp + envelope + tax = 87 cents... so it would still be a 13 cent moneymaker!!

comeback 06-14-2013 01:23 AM

there seem to be 2 rebates for headphones

It's a targetted coupon code, usually you only get it if you've bought stuff recently. You're welcome to try it to see if you're eligible!

Thanks for the reminder. I added it to the Wiki. I take it you didn't purchase the other two HDMI cables, hoping that they would all be in stock at the same time?

Unfortunately, they've been selling out lately... the one yesterday only lasted until like 7 AM.

Pfft, nope!
I've purchased the 6ft, 10ft, and 15 ft cables. I have lots of active newegg accounts for maximum coupon usage ;). I've still got 2 coupons left! My problem is that, there's still the 15th and the 16th for possible HDMI cables, so if I use one of my two on this one, and better ones pop up, i'll be screwed :P

Look how sneaky newegg is - I didn't believe they planned things out like this at first but this is clearly obvious.

An hour after the rebate expires ($10.99 rebate) these suddenly come back in stock and are $4.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6817994085

So they really do count on rebates not getting processed.

I guess we'll never see staples-like easy-rebates from newegg.

They can make it up to us with another net-to-zero event for June ;)

Forever..

Seriously... NewEgg takes a long time to process rebates. But ultimately, you get your check.

Think of 3 to 4 months.

Will they honor the rebate if you use a coupon code? It clearly says "Not combinable with any other offer." and I would think a coupon code would be an "other offer."

While it certainly makes the deal less attractive, it definitely doesn't kill it.
You're getting a pair of headphones for like 2 dollars. Slightly less if you have a CC with cashback (one even has 5% for NE) or use CB sites.

Actually, it's not a check. It's a prepaid amex or visa card. You wait 4-5 months to get it, then you have 6 months to spend it before fees or expiration.

I don't understand why rebates aren't illegal. It seems they only exist so that people will either forget to send in the rebate or mess up the rebate they send in, which will allow a company to sell a product nobody wants.

I highly recommend anyone who doesn't get their rebate, for any reason, to report the company who offered the rebate to the better business bureau, report the website that had the after rebate product to the better business bureau and to also file a credit card dispute for fraud.

JaTaN 06-14-2013 12:33 PM

No one is forcing you to buy the product and/or send in the rebate -- if you don't like rebate items or you have a habit of forgetting to send them in then wait for deals without rebates

corazones 06-14-2013 01:19 PM

Thank you for your vulgar reply. I will offer an anecdote to the contrary.

There used to be a site called YourFree360Games where you can sign up for offers and get credits for 'free' games. One company I dealt with named 'Hydroxatone' refused to accept my return of their item. I decided to file a dispute with the BBB and Hydroxatone responded to the case I opened by not only refunding me but telling me to not even bother returning the item.

It was a good experience for me. I recommend considering it as a course of action in the future, it may not provide any results, but I'm all for empowering consumers from shady business practices. Leave no stone unturned.

I tried that in the past when one of the lesser used retailers decided to renege on a rebate and claim that what we slickdealers purchased wasn't an eligible product. Chase got involved, but couldn't do anything because I ordered the product and they fulfilled it. I'd still file a CC chargeback again since it's pretty easy to do, but there wasn't much that came of it.

Eventually, we SDers got our rebates.

Also, BBB has no legal authority which is why some people don't like them and/or make the mistake of putting too much faith in them. That being said, I filed a report once over a rebate and eventually got the money.

A lot of us on slickdeals do hundreds of rebates per month x12 month a year... so in the thousands...and most of us have 100% success rate getting them back.... if you forget to send it in thats on you, if you dont fill it out properly or follow the instructions to the letter then thats your fault... if it gets lost in the mail (ive never had it happen once, knock on wood) and you didnt scan your forms before mailing them as a precaution... thats your fault.... FAR doesnt really mean FREE.. its basically a coupon for a big discount but you have to put in a little work to get that discount and you have to meet deadlines.... 98% of slickdealers who do rebates dont mind the little extra work and the cost of a stamp to get many items for nearly free... we often donate items to friends family and shelters (yes their are even rebates for toasters, irons and so on)

if you dont like rebates you dont have to do them... means more FAR items for other people to get

no you are not... my preferred headphones are these sony over the ear hook headphones
http://ak1.ostkcdn.com/images/pro...547057.jpg
they let your ear canal "breathe a little" and still provide great sound...and you can hear a little bit outside noise so its safer if you are walking on the street near cars etc... if you dont want to hear the outside noise you just push them in a little more...

I cant stand the older ipod style ones they never would fit in my ears. hurt my ears after wearing them for a few minutes and they always fell out with the slightest movement...

but I do like to use earbuds when mowing the lawn... I dont have to increase the volume bc the earbuds provide more outside noise suppression... but yeah I dont find them comfortable and they make my ear canals sweatier... and the also fall out a lot... but here is the little trick for those of us who hate them... do this right here and it helps

URGENT question: What is "the receipt"?

The Rebate form says that "a copy of the receipt" should be included in the envelope.

What is the receipt?

1. Is it the NewEgg email with subject line "Newegg.com - Invoice"?
2. Is it the NewEgg email with subject line "Newegg.com - Order Confirmation"?
3. Is it on my NewEgg account online, when I click on the Invoice #?
4. Is it something else?

I've never done a NewEgg FAR promo before, and I don't want NewEgg to invalidate my submissions.

Please help.

JaTaN 06-28-2013 02:53 AM

Invoice -- I always print mine from the online account

Order History -> click on the invoice # -> click on the print button that shows up -> it'll open your invoice in a new window

You just have to print the order info only -- you can skip the bottom "Return Policies" section

oilspill 06-28-2013 03:03 AM

thanks.

Thanks, Jatan. That means I could print just page 1, and skip page 2 (trailing portion of the Return Policies section).

Yep -- just make sure all the order info prints out (rebate centers don't care about the return policy info)
