I have had mine for about a year. I highly recommend. Arguably the best 2.1 computer speakers for the money.

spydersdeals69 06-22-2013 07:17 AM

Had mine for about 6 months now. Very good sound, excellent bass. Better than a soundbar for sure, for those thinking about going that route.

mtgredline 06-22-2013 07:21 AM

I'm using these speakers, highly recommend them. Great sound all around.

Klipsch promedia 2.1's are better and frequently on sale for $99

Sure, if you don't count the cost to repair them every few months. *prods the customer reviews section*

slightly cheaper. Refurb but still Logitech refurb stuff I got has yet to break on me.

Tempted to buy thanks to this, but can't decide. With geekbert it brings the price down to $80 shipped vs Amazons $108.

I have a broken set in my closet I will sell you for $99

KamikazeJello 06-22-2013 11:09 AM

Replaced some ProMedia 2.1 with these speakers. Great sound, the two sets are on par with each other in my opinion. My Klipsch started acting up by having higher volume on left channel at low volumes, this the replacement with Logitech.

i've bought 2 pairs since i thought this too. 1 of them the sound control on when you set it all the way theres still sound leaking out of left speaker.

second pair the 20cent clip to plug the speaker into the subwoofer broke, rendering the entire system useless unless I fix it somehow.

better sound... perhaps.. but not the build =/

this. one volume has so much higher than the other one that at 0, my left one is still loud and the right one has no sound.

Sodalink 06-22-2013 11:20 AM

It's a tough call, but 90 warranty vs 2 year warranty it's a big difference. I bought a set of Z5500 used 5 year ago used. After 8 months they broke and I called Logitech even though I had no clue if they were under warranty still. They asked me for the SN # and set me a whole new set without asking much. Luckily I got the new revision that did not have the RCA cables and ugly big power transformer. However, that was a $300+ set back then which I got for $180.

I'm tempted to get this set, but the fact that Amazon charges me taxes now it's making me double think about it.

Good price for this set. It usually hits this price a few times a year through Best Buy and Amazon.

I currently own these and have owned two sets of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers as well. Very comparable systems. To me, the midrange on the Klipsch sound fuller than the Logitech's satellites but the sub on the Z623 goes quite a bit lower / louder than the Klipsch. I'd say an EQ/processor can probably correct some of the shortcomings on the Logitech midrange. If you're using the set for gaming, movies or bass-heavy music, I think most people would be more pleased with the Logitech system. You'd be surprised how much air that 7" sub can move.

I've also experienced some of the known quality issues with the Klipsch - the first set I picked up from the store broke immediately when I tried to plug in the satellites to the sub. The electronics/layout of the Klipsch sub/amp are where most of the quality issues originate. I'm a fan of Klipsch in general too (loved the old KG4 home speakers and currently use the RW-12d sub in my living room).

That is debatable. I listened to both. Had I not done it blind, I might have been swayed to Klipsch, but if you do a blind test, I'd buy either and I ended up with the Logitechs. I paid $100 a year ago & have been very pleased.

They're good but I've had these for 2 months before it got faulty. Am much pleased with Z623, still going strong after many months of heavy use.

PM to Staples and use a 25 off 75 coupon to make these $75 + tax.

Save your $$. Z-2300 is plenty good.

lotreaglesfan 06-22-2013 02:51 PM

love mine. have had them for almost 2 years now and still sound amazing for the price! got them back when they were 90.

tinymonkeyt 06-22-2013 03:20 PM

Mmm, if I'm not exactly an audiophile but I do enjoy good sounding music (and I watch movies with my roomies pretty often), would this be a good investment?

How big is your room?
in my opinion, I heard these at my school in the cafeteria and I could hear it across the room

b1gbleu 06-22-2013 03:32 PM

I've had great luck with Logitech and their support came through when I needed it. My z5500 is running the living room sound system quite well! Plenty of power and never any distortion

Mmmm, it's not too spacious, since I share with someone else. Like an average college student apartment double.. (not sure if that helps at all)

That would have to involve calling in or ordering online right?

EpicBob 06-22-2013 03:54 PM

I'm quite happy with this set. Way better than the $500 5.1 system I bought in 2004.

Absolutely. I use it on my PC for music and gaming, and hook it up to my TV and consoles for gaming and movies. Great sound for the price.

Yes correct - phone order

xanthan2187 06-22-2013 04:54 PM

I've had these for about 2 years now, and the volume pot is always scratchy sounding. I'm constantly having to use contact cleaner on it.

webhappy 06-22-2013 06:08 PM

I'm surprised promedias are known for build issues. I have a set I got off eBay refurb'd for ~$70 ~7 years ago, and they still work fine for me. The only issue is that dust builds inside the volume knob's contacts, so I have to wriggle it around once a month to clean it a bit (but I get the same issue on my Fiio E10 so this is probably a common issue with analog volume adjusters). One downside is that the power button is way behind the sub, so I always leave my promedia 2.1 on; maybe turning it on/off frequently damages it?

TheBaffler 06-22-2013 06:37 PM

i've owned three pairs of these, both had problems with one of the satellites after about 8-10 months. The first set had really bad buzzing noise but the second was only noticeable during low volume. That said, I thought they sounded great and would probably get them again if I really wanted a cheap pair. I sold the third set after about 10 months on craigslist.

The reason why I would buy logitech again is because when the first set died, I called them to get a replacement and got it 2 days later.. when the second set had problems.. they replaced it again. Two day shipping for both replacements. They paid for shipping.

The newer ones aren't built as nice as the old speakers, so there are more problems if you buy them now.

I have a pair of z623 and they sound good. I just ordered a sound card so we'll see how much better they can be. z2300 are still superior though, wish they still sold them

dn3g3l 06-22-2013 08:29 PM

is a sound card the only option to connect my htpc that's using an hdmi to connect to the tv if i want to use this speaker set?

Does you tv have headphone or rca out? You could use that if you want to run all tv audio through it.

munkymonkjr 06-22-2013 08:53 PM

would strongly consider and recommend - if my refurb Z-2300 weren't still going strong after 4 years (+??? before refurb).

everix 06-22-2013 09:07 PM

I'm tempted to pick up a pair of these for myself, but I can't justify it since I already have a really nice headset that I use for most of my audio needs lol.

kicker618 06-22-2013 09:08 PM

how much better are the ones in OP's post than this ? http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-LS...gitech+2.1

Have them and they are great! Please Quote, interested on opinions
